Funny to think that a while back plenty scorned the idea of signing Chris Wood because he apparently wasn't good for Everton but this season he's already scored more goals than our centre forward will!

Agreed. Definitely should have got him in 3 summers ago. He's ugly and 1 dimensional but would have been the perfect fit for our hoof ball style. I would have been disappointed as I don't want to watch my team play like that but he'd have been a perfect fit for this squad. Basically Big Dunc without the personality and a lot less of the nut job. Doesn't get injured and cheap as chips.

If, as looks likely, dcl leaves in January or the summer, shouldn't we be looking to upgrade rather than get in a journeyman who's best days are behind him? Be careful what we wish for, CW is a Dyche kind of player but do we all bow want SD to stay in charge? If so, CW is perfect for us!

Don't know what we are doing with SD that's up to the new owners when and if it happens. But don't worry everyone because Woods will never be a Everton player so don't panic lol ?.

Forget the offside one then blue spud, what about the fact that he has outscored DCL from open play since the beginning of last season? Despite having played less minutes by the equivalent of 22 full games. He isn't a world beater but he's a grafter, a nuisance and the clear irrefutable evidence is that he's a better goalscorer than Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
{Ed025's Note - im afraid im with bluepotato here Dbizzle, i dont know what the question is mate but Beto is certainly not the answer for me, i know its all down to personal opinion but i just don see what he offers the team, i find him very clumsy and as much as i want to see him succeed i just dont get what he brings to the party, maybe as part of a front 2 his robust style could take the emphasis away from DCL but i dont think we will ever know under Dyche because he will never play with a front 2 unless its the last couple of minutes and we are behind, get Broja fit i say and hope he brings more to the table than the chuckle brothers who cant hit a bulls arse with a banjo..

Totally agree GD. Got slaughtered for not looking magnificent with tactics that were rotten for him and for 10 mins at a time at best. Even with that, before Moyes coming back and him getting a chance, his goals ratio compared to DCL was chalk and cheese. He's a real nuisance and creates space/ confusion off second balls. the amount of times he's come on after 80 mins and had more shots than DCL had done in previous 80 - yes there's a lack of top notch quality but that fact in itself said something about work rate and positioning etc.

It was clear he was being used completely incorrectly (not just in terms of a few mins here and there - more importantly with the way we played. He's a big lad and the lazy assumption (including from highly paid manager) was that we should be able to lump it up to him. Great to see him shining now that a manager is utilising his strengths rather than focusing on his physique!

Game of opinions Ed. Not saying Branthwaite will definitely be up their with the best in the world, but worth noting that when Van Dijk was his age he was playing for a lower half Dutch team and then signed for Celtic followed by Southampton. Branthwaite was our standout player playing in the premier league last season having done so well in the Dutch league for one of the top Dutch clubs the previous season that they wanted to sign him permanently.

DCL just does not put chances away though Ed, we've seen it time and again for many years. The number of 1 on 1s he's missed in a blue shirt is frightening. Beto was poor today, and is certainly no world beater but the loss today was down to the hideous goals we conceded rather than deficiencies in betos game.
{Ed025's Note - but at least DCL can lead the line and is very good in the air Db, the other useless lump offers nothing, its like having Mr Bean in the side mate..
