Good afternoon folks.
I have said before on here I am not DCL's biggest fan, there is a quality striker in there somewhere but he has had rotten luck with injuries and is a little too inconsistent for me.
You could argue that he doesn't get the best service but how many big chances just he miss? Quite a few to be honest.
If I remember rightly when Sky did a piece on Darwin Nunez and how he isn't clinical enough when they put up the graphic DCL was right up there too.
He is 27 now, I believe it is a good move for him and good luck to the lad. Hopefully we can invest on a younger forward to take us forward.
Does anyone know if Minteh is a realistic option coming to us?

DuaneyBoy1878

{Ed025's Note - i think Minteh is a realistic option Duaney..

1.) 22 Jun 2024 15:56:49
Rumours are that clubs are doing these deals to bend the rules and avoid sanctions as the rules only dictate transfer money not out of they restructure the ins so as not to count for this year so 100% the dcl and minteh deals will happen like the villa deals did and we shouldn’t have to sell branthwaite by July as we will just scrape through due to these deals. Will prob still have to sell him but won’t have our pants pulled down, good on us villa and Newcastle finding a loophole and sticking two fingers up to the premier league.

2.) 22 Jun 2024 16:25:31
Minteh would be good for us.

3.) 22 Jun 2024 21:26:29
Minted would be mint eh!

4.) 23 Jun 2024 08:54:54
I have to say DCL is a top quality striker playing in a poor side.
Put him in the Newcastle or Man U side and he’s 20 goals a season no problem.
Playing him as a loan striker with no support and he’s feeding off scraps.
I agree it’s time for him to move on, but it will be a big hole to fill if we continue with SD playing a loan striker.

5.) 23 Jun 2024 09:25:22
I kind of get what you are saying Chalkie but there is no evidence that DCL would get anywhere near 20 goals a season.
I think maybe 15 if Newcastle play to his strengths which I'm not sure they will.

6.) 23 Jun 2024 12:34:05
The way we play with just one up top no striker is going to get 15 or 20 goals.

{Ed025's Note - thats my worry as well Harlex..

7.) 23 Jun 2024 23:28:32
Not sure how you can guarantee he gets 20+ goals for United given how bad they are and the fact that Holjund is a much more complete finisher than Dom is and even he couldn't even get close to that.

17 Jun 2024 21:11:38
Gnonto rumours resurfacing. is this just lazy journalism guys?
Surely we aren't in a position to buy at the moment.

DuaneyBoy1878

1.) 17 Jun 2024 22:01:54
Maybe after 30th June. You’d imagine he’ll be leaving Leeds along with a few others.

2.) 19 Jun 2024 23:38:06
Would leave gnonto. I don't rate him at all.

02 Jun 2024 10:21:14
I am very sorry if this has been answered eds, I have been on and off here pretty sporadically lately.
Ed002, what do you think the chances are of Everton going into Administration? You know a lot more about where Everton are than we do at the moment.
There is so much negative news at the moment it is difficult to see where the positive outcome comes from.

DuaneyBoy1878

{Ed002's Note - The issue the club now have is very much time based. £159M due to MSP Sports Capital last month was not paid so they could force Everton in to Administration but will not want to do that. They would perhaps look to take on a partner or two and look to buy the club - but that takes time, but that would be the best option to me and then they could look to sit down with the creditors and restructure the debt. Rights and Media funfing are owed £225M and will also not want to put the club in to Administration. However, the matter of the £210M owed to 777 Partners is dependent on something else. It is possible that 777 Partners will seek Chapter 11 bancruptcy protection whilst it re-organises the business. However, they could be forced down the Chapter 7 route which will see a Trustee (like an Administrator) take over a recover all debts and sell all assets to distribute to pay debts of their own. This would put Everton at huge risk and needing to find £210M or more quickly to repay 777 Partners. A suggestioin that John Textor would look to take the club in to the same group as Lyon and Botofogo is credible. However, it is not something that could happen overnight as he is a part owner of Crystal Palace and would need to sell on first, then go through the whole process to obtain approval from the Premier League, FA and the Financial Conduct Authority during which time the club can only accrue more debt or enter Administration whilst they wait. Right now, the club will have to find a way to restructure at least some of the debt or head in to Administration during the close season.}

1.) 02 Jun 2024 10:56:58
Morning Ed, if John Textor is already involved in a club would he always need to gain approval.

{Ed002's Note - Yes. He has to sell then gain approval - but it should be easier for him.}

2.) 02 Jun 2024 11:46:59
I was reading MSP were looking to get shares in Tottenham Hopefully just more rumours but were would that put us if it's true Ed?

{Ed002's Note - That is correct, they are talking with Spurs.}

3.) 02 Jun 2024 12:55:11
Thank you again Ed for the detailed answer. This situation is an absolute nightmare.

28 May 2024 11:49:17
Kalvin Phillips - no thank you.
Thinks he is far better than he actually is, we need to stay away from this sort of signing.

DuaneyBoy1878

{Ed025's Note - absolutely Duaney, thinks hes the big i am when really he is a very poor player mate..

1.) 28 May 2024 12:20:03
Hard to argue against his form in the past couple of years. It was not a poor player that Pep saw and spent big on though. Is it possible that he can recover his previous form? Unfortunately, this is exactly the sort of player we can sign and may have to take the odd risk, we are not dining off the top table.

2.) 28 May 2024 12:38:34
Some players are made for one club and I think KP is one of those players. He needs to go back to Leeds where he is loved and respected by the fans, pick himself up and see if he can hit the same levels as he did a few years back. Not a bad player but I was surprised that Pep took a gamble on him, he was never a City type of player for me.

3.) 28 May 2024 13:06:42
Is he to replace Gomes if we get him.

4.) 28 May 2024 13:27:33
I like the look of Sheaf from Cov gents.

He has good pedigree with having spent most of his career at Arsenal, despite only playing for them once.

I have watched him at Cov a few times when I was seeing how Simms was getting on.

A proper midfielder who has the ability to do it all. Aggressive in the press, great at stealing the ball and decisive and clean when he goes to ground.

He is calm in possession, has a lovely first touch and likes taking the ball under pressure to either play it round the corner or spread one out to the flanks to start progressing play. He always looks to play forward and can spray a decent ball. He actually has decent feet too and can get out of tight spaces when the opposition press him and then carry the ball forward.

If we actually have any money to spend on a midfielder when Onana goes, he would be a fantastic signing and would walk straight into our team. Although that isn't very difficult these days.

5.) 28 May 2024 13:59:59
I imagine there would be a hefty loan fee involved and we would be paying a decent chunk of his wages.
His attitude stunk at West Ham.
Surely this is where we need to be using our scouting network and using what money we have to sign a young player that could be an investment instead of dead money.

6.) 28 May 2024 14:58:44
Does anyone know if gana has or will be offered a 1 year extension just curious and for me kalvin Phillips as much as i liked him at leeds an city before injury he struggled at west ham this season i think we can look at other alternatives who could do better but we have no money and i can't see much money being generated if we do sell onana for his replacement so i think loan market will pave way for 1 or 2 signings question is who is out there that can come in on loan with options to buy but yeah interesting debate lads.

7.) 28 May 2024 14:58:47
Only seen him a couple of times on the box. But looks better than what we have, and would be a good acquisition. Hopefully Thelwell's scouts have gone as far as Coventry BN.

8.) 28 May 2024 15:37:31
Gana’s contract’s been extended by a year.

9.) 28 May 2024 15:44:36
Just keep him off the pens Brass. I am sure he laced one of the woodwork against United. Was a shame as he was top drawer in that game.

Jury is still out on Thelwell. For every Tark, there is a Vinagre.

10.) 28 May 2024 17:50:03
Oh dear here we go again with over paid players who have lost there edge, have we not learnt with the rubbish we've had over the years, couldn't even get in the squad at west ham, big no thanks from me.

{Ed025's Note - and me pasty..

06 Aug 2023 13:07:52
I am a bit puzzled about Jebbison.
I am just wondering what the Eds know and think about him.
I remember him scoring against us and then he seemed to disappear a little, I can't remember him tearing up the championship.
Can anyone shed some light on how he will drastically improve us as there seems to be a lot of excitement out there.
Please don't think I am being negative. I will support the lad 100%, just don't know a lot about him.

DuaneyBoy1878

{Ed002's Note - Daniel Jebbison (S) Everton interest went after Frank Lampard left but it may have returned as they struggle in the transfer market. Brighton and Union Berlin have a declared interest in the Canadian. Wildcard may be Borussia Dortmund or Bayer Leverkusen.}

1.) 06 Aug 2023 15:45:54
I'm with you on this one Duaney, I know stats don't tell the full story in terms of contribution to the team but strikers are judged on goals and his minutes per goal ratio in Prem and L1 are pretty much the same as Simms but Simms has done much better in the Championship
Simms - 1200 min 7G/ 2A
Jebbison-600 min 1G/ 1A.

2.) 06 Aug 2023 18:59:28
As Ed says (in subscript) we don't have a lot to offer or attract. All of that since Moshris' arrival of ridiculous offers and wages for mediocre (Moshris' advisor suggestions) players has for over 18 months now made huge teeth marks in our financial rear end which has effectively zeroed our credibility. Hard to do I know (and my criticism a bit ott) but maybe we need to temper our expectations. None of this Everton have gone for this 40 mill player or that essentially unobtainable.

3.) 06 Aug 2023 19:20:33
Don't think majority people think we genuinely are DFS. Just the usual NewsNow repeated posts.

4.) 07 Aug 2023 09:57:50
He can’t get into the Sheffield starting 11.

5.) 07 Aug 2023 14:59:23
Why would any team buy 2 youngsters for the future when we have no money and need players to come and be effective straight away, if he was in stead of the Portuguese youngster I'd understand, we need someone with a bit of pedigree, weather that happens or not is in the hands of the Gods, personally I think once the young guy signs that's us done, I just don't see who is coming who's better and for a low cost, what we have is what will have for the foreseeable future, unless one of out better players leaves, which would be stupid as we will need them to keep us up.
If we had any money at all, we would be trying our hardest to get them in now, where are they, paper talk is all it is.

How have we got such an injury crisis a week in to the season?
We are so poorly run from ownership, finances, transfers, player management, player selection and player attitude that right now, we are a relagation and the disaster that will come with that waiting to happen.
And I like to think I am generally quite a positive thinker!

DuaneyBoy1878

1.) 22 Aug 2024 15:33:15
Apparently the indestructible Tarks is out. It looks like we may be playing Spurs with a backline of

Myko Holgate Keane Tea Lady.

2.) 22 Aug 2024 15:44:50
Two days of “managers” day probably didn’t help.

3.) 22 Aug 2024 16:35:39
I’ve got no problem with managers days, players are all pampered these days, and it didn’t injure our players last season.
The ‘crisis’ is just another sound bite that attempts to paper over the cracks. The squad lacks depth and quality when they’re all fit. Young and Coleman are too old anyway. A couple of injuries should not derail our squad. It’s embarrassing that SD’s moaning about this now. Should have been addressed over the last few months.

4.) 22 Aug 2024 17:43:48
Only had one day last year. Maybe practicing passing and finishing would have been a good idea.

5.) 22 Aug 2024 18:33:50
sSD doesn't buy the players thelwell does, he is buying in the wrong positions, he is useless.

6.) 22 Aug 2024 19:29:56
Thelwell buys the players and Sean doesn't play them. Maybe he's given up trying to get a young right back, as we already have one. doesn't think we need one. And Sean won't play him.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think Thelwell and Dyche are singing from the same hymn sheet Brass, and im in the Thelwell camp mate..

7.) 22 Aug 2024 19:54:47
Thelwell has just offered young a new contract, enough said.

8.) 22 Aug 2024 20:31:13
So much for the Dyche coaching team employed to get ave them match fit and ready, his probably over done the running leading to too many injuries instead of coaching them.

9.) 22 Aug 2024 21:11:58
Makes me wonder if there is a rift between Thelwell and Dyche ed025.

{Ed025's Note - i think Thelwell has his own brief Nick which is to recruit players of a younger age on sensible wages and a sell on value...which i happen to like, Dyche is very loyal to his favourites and is very reluctant to give new players their head mate, he is very stubborn and would prefer a seasoned pro to an up and coming starlet even if they are total gash, i truly believe that if Garner was fit we would not have seen Tim last weekend, Sean would rather trust the old guard rather than let the youngsters try to prove their worth and thats why we are seeing serial under performers like Keane, Holgate, Doucore, Young and even McNeil playing on a regular basis....the sooner he goes the better for me..

10.) 22 Aug 2024 23:01:39
I've been saying it since day one but slated for it.

11.) 23 Aug 2024 01:44:32
Spot on Ed ? defeat at spurs playing his favourites. but will win midweek in the cup with a changed line-up if player's are fit. and SD will be talking his usual bollox then totally change the team for the weekend match.

{Ed025's Note - i really fear for us this season RON, i dont see 3 worse teams than us im afraid..

12.) 23 Aug 2024 07:17:24
Dreading this weekend now. I know hope springs eternal and all that, but, I can see us getting a drubbing at the weekend.

13.) 23 Aug 2024 10:41:27
We’d better hope others get points deductions and we don’t! Sorry state of affairs.

17 Aug 2024 17:04:44
This is horrible, Brighton have been the better team but not by 3 goals.
The 2 more pressing issues are 1 - This feels like groundhog day with proper protocols not being followed with VAR in our games.
Eds I can't remember the actual game it was but we had a penalty decision that was as clear as day not given and VAR didn't review it last season. maybe you can help with the game it was.
We are 90% of the time on the wrong side of horrendous calls, I remember Allan getting sent off against Newcastle a couple of seasons ago and even Carragher said it was a booking all day long but VAR intervened and got the exact frame that made it look like horrendous tackle.
My other major concern is how do we improve this squad now? Young should never pull on an Everton shirt again in my opinion.
Why didn't O'brien start?
I agree with a lot of people on here an unproven Dixon is better than Young. at least he has legs, and let's be honest he can't defend any worst than Ashley.
I remember people complaining about Tony Hibbert, Leon Osman and Steven Naismith starting every week under Moyes. I would give anything to have players with that quality, passion and drive in our team now.

DuaneyBoy1878

1.) 17 Aug 2024 18:15:39
Sean Dyche on Jake O’Brien “The reason why he didn't start is because Michael Keane's had a very strong pre-season and he's a very experienced Premier League player. Jake hasn't got that experience [yet] but he'll learn quickly. "

2.) 17 Aug 2024 18:29:18
Could have easily been 0-5 and they were way, way better than us.

3.) 17 Aug 2024 19:09:54
PLB that’s the worst cop out I’ve heard. If Keane was so good why did O’Brien feature in so many pre season games?

He insults supporters when he reasons this way!

4.) 17 Aug 2024 19:21:43
O'brien would have stepped up with Tarks alongside him.

5.) 17 Aug 2024 20:55:28
Didn’t OBrien play in the prem for Palace?

05 Jul 2024 09:13:05
Just going to throw my two pence in on the DCL debate.
If he does leave he does with my blessing, I have spoken about how clinical or not as the case may be. But the facts are he has resched double figures in goals twice in 8 years for us.
Surely there is a younger striker on a lot lower wages that could lead the line just as well.
Broja is young and only going to get better and he is a unit, Surely worth looking at getting him in on loan? Plus it is another reported 120k a week off the wage bill. I don't know enough about Sekou Koita to really comment bout him, although his scoring record looks pretty good.
As Ed025 said if any player wants to leave let them, whether it is Onana, Branthwaite or DCL, all of them are replaceable. remember, we have only had 1 good season out of Branthwaite. If he leaves I believe Greaves would be an excellent replacement.

DuaneyBoy1878

1.) 05 Jul 2024 10:08:18
As you mentioned in you're post i agree mate he also goes with no grudges from meself if he doesn't want to sign new contract and thinks he can get with better team like a Newcastle or even a chelsea as back up then good on him but we can't let his contract run down so hopefully we can get 20 25 million but we do need a replacement for dcl question is who.

2.) 05 Jul 2024 11:01:52
At least he has been honest and said he wants to go to Newcastle as long as Everton get best deal possible for him that is the priority for club and exact situation with Onana as DCL both expressed their desire to go elsewhere.

3.) 05 Jul 2024 11:19:26
Whilst I agree that we shouldn’t have anyone at the club who doesn’t want to play for us, I don’t understand what you mean by saying JB has only had one good season for us? That’s not down to him.

He played a handful of games for us and bagged at Stamford Bridge and was then sent out on loan to Psv who wanted to keep him.

He then came back and was unused at the start of the season even though Keane was playing abysmally as per usual. When he finally got in, he stayed in the side and put in a brilliant season at such a young age.

The lad has absolutely everything as a centre back and his scope for improvement is scary when you consider the fact he came through late at Carlisle, so will not have had anywhere near the same schooling/ coaching as a young lad at a PL team.

He is 10 times more important to us than DCL or Onana and if he stays and performs to the same level, which I see no reason why he won’t, we can then genuinely ask for £100m + for the lad.

4.) 05 Jul 2024 11:38:59
Don’t think JB will be going anywhere Sean knows he’s too good a player to sell, as for DCL we get £25 million then yep good deal time for him time to move on, not his fault all the injuries he’s had i wish him well and look forward to his replacement.

5.) 05 Jul 2024 11:42:45
I like and rate Dom more than most seem to on here. His goals however are replaceable. JB would be harder to replace imo.

6.) 05 Jul 2024 11:51:41
I would love to keep jb think the lad has his world at his feet i imagine the bigger fish will come calling for him at somestage but if we can have him for just 1 more season while we are in transition then happy days for me BN on onana mate i havnt seen one game since he has joined us where i have fought blimey he's a beast but might be just because are squad isn't good enough where if he went to a arsenal or a man United am sure he would fit in with the quality of players they both have at there disposal.

7.) 05 Jul 2024 12:32:46
Looks like he’s not going to Newcastle they can’t sell Callum Wilson good news for me because I would like DCL to stay.

{Ed002's Note - Once Wilso is sold, and they are in talks, they will return for DCL.}

29 Jun 2024 21:40:37
Not Everton related but how sick must Joachim Andersen feel, gets a goal cruelly took off him then gets an awful penalty decision given against him.
These decisions going against Denmark are shocking.

DuaneyBoy1878

1.) 29 Jun 2024 22:23:57
English officials for you.

2.) 29 Jun 2024 22:49:12
Game’s gone. Danes were robbed.

3.) 30 Jun 2024 07:27:56
I turned it off after that, ruined the whole game, never off side for me, and how in the hell was that a penalty, games gone mad and it's being ruined by idiot looking at a TV monitor.

4.) 30 Jun 2024 09:09:55
Feel football is almost dead now after watching that last night. Absolutely pathetic display by the officials/ var / so called rules.

5.) 30 Jun 2024 10:36:11
For me he was offside even before VAR and it was definitely handball. I thought Michael Keane had changed nationality! Put you arm up like that and it will go against you 100% of the time.

Having said all that Denmark I thought were very good again Germany. God knows how our lot a draw against them.

6.) 30 Jun 2024 11:55:43
Never handball BlueJohn.

7.) 30 Jun 2024 15:42:09
Technically was a handball JB, but in no way is that how football should be, horrible decision given, exact same in regards the offside, Denmark can rightly feel hard done by.

8.) 30 Jun 2024 16:01:10
Which is what I meant.

11 May 2024 18:30:42
I am a Sean Dyche fan, even I had a wobble during the 15 game winless run.
Where could he of had us without the points deductions, uncertainty and lack of transfer funds?

DuaneyBoy1878

1.) 11 May 2024 19:35:29
So did I mate but he’s done a great job with the Team he had, he did what he was brought in to do.

2.) 11 May 2024 20:08:35
Agree Duaney, but thing is the calibre of teams we played in that 15 games, in a few of those we actually played better without getting the results than a couple of the games we have won recently.

Sean and the players deserve the credit. We will be in the same scenario next season with potential of a high turn around of players.

{Ed025's Note - a win is a win i suppose Mocker but my god it was turgid, i enjoyed about 10 minutes of the game mate but the rest of it was disappointing to say the least..

3.) 11 May 2024 20:33:11
GB do you honestly think our squad is weaker than what went down if you don’t mind me asking your opinion? If you do that would say SD has done a good job. If not it is expected us it not I get the points deduction is why we are we are. However I still think we have underachieved.

4.) 11 May 2024 21:22:31
I can't wait to get my holiday in Rhodes out of the way and those stupid Euro Championship Football finals, then we can have another season of Drossball served up by Dyche. I hope the new owners keep him. Bring it on. In Dyche we trust!

5.) 12 May 2024 10:28:32
Without the 8 point deduction we'd be 11th. With more cash and better squad presumably higher.

Without all the pressure around the points deduction? Don't know, sometimes it seemed to spur us on.

I don't know if it is still there.
There are quite a few pubs near Turf Moor but obviously they will be packed with Burnley fans.
