Be patient with the new manager. If it is to be
Koeman and he only comes back from holiday today he will have things to attend to.
If he travels with Thomsons, then every chance his flight could be delayed.
When he gets back home his wife will want to go Asda or Aldi to stock up the fridge.
He will need to go out for newspaper to catch up on latest sport news.
He will need to clear all his post from behind the front door.
When he looks out from the kitchen window will decide that his lawn needs cutting subject to not raining.
Will need to check his answer phone for any messages.
Just like we all have to do.

Can anyone clarify on the Byram situation. This morning Newcastle reported making an offer and on tv last night Martinez, either sky or BBC north west, gave me the impression Everton only interested and nothing more definite than that.

If what is being said is true and if they don't get a move on, then Byrom could be snapped up by others.

Keenone

{Ed002's Note - The situation remains that Everton are one of a number of interested sides and the club has put a proposal forward and are also talking to the representatives of the player. The critical thing is the kid has the following options: (a) Sign a new contract with Leeds. (b) Opt for a January transfer if the right offer arrives - that would help Leeds out but the player would lose out on a signing on fee - and he needs to think very carefully about his future. (c) See his contract out and consider his options in the summer - including a potentially very hefty signing on fee.}

1.) 16 Jan 2016 13:00:34
Thanks ed002.

{Ed002's Note - I am pretty comfortable that subject to ironing out any issues surrounding guarantees being asked for by his representatives, something will happen in the coming days.}

2.) 17 Jan 2016 11:37:33
Rumours flying around that he's having his medical today. Anything concrete ends?

{Ed025's Note - he is due at everton today anom, i think we are in the box seat mate but nothing is certain yet..

Just heard on Radio Merseyside, a reported bid of £44.2M for John Stones from Chelsea. If they include their first choice keeper in the deal I say take it. Know it won't happen.

Keenone

or Begovic.

2.) 06 Jan 2016 11:15:47
Why would they get rid of Courtois?

3.) 06 Jan 2016 13:10:23
I think Keenone is being sarcastic Swan.

4.) 06 Jan 2016 15:17:01
Winds me up that these rich clubs think they can do what they want. I mean, they have had a couple of days to make a bid but they decide to do it on the day we are set to play in a semi final. We all know they want him, join the queue, but have a bit of class about it ffs.

5.) 06 Jan 2016 16:45:19
Yes Swan, it was a tongue in cheek comment about Chelsea goalie. I wonder if there was any substance in the story that radio Merseyside put out about the John Stones as I have not seen any reference to it from anywhere else. Think Sky would have mentioned it.
It's not the first time Radio Merseyside have been putting out wrong information, but being a local station one would expect it to be genuine.

6.) 06 Jan 2016 18:28:30
To be fair spud the big clubs are only doing the same as we do, just on a bigger scale. We raid championship clubs, maybe we go about our business in a better way than the likes of Chelsea tho.

7.) 06 Jan 2016 22:11:54
Anomblue, totally agree. Just with it being on the same day as a semi final. Although I'm not so sure a bid has been placed like some outlets are reporting.

26 Aug 2015 08:59:30
There is one site reporting that Stones informed Martinez privately last week that he wanted to leave to go Chelsea.

Suggest introduce performance related pay.

Win. Contracted pay.
Win by more than 3 goals contracted pay plus 5%.
Score draw contracted pay less 5%.
No score draw contracted pay less 10%
Defeat contracted pay less 15%.

Also players after a game decide who was worst performer and put them forward to attend after match TV interview. No self respecting player would want to appear. If this can't motivate them nothing will.

Seems to be same old Everton no matter who the players or manager are.

Keenone

1.) 15 Mar 2021 10:26:40
I like it in principle, kinda. But a no score draw likely means the defence has done a good job so you are punishing them for doing their job well 🤷‍♂️.

2.) 15 Mar 2021 12:30:43
See what you mean.

3.) 15 Mar 2021 17:17:23
Also, a score draw against Man City would be a good result, but a score draw against Shef Utd wouldn’t be.
They’re paid to train and play in matches - that gets them basic pay. What we need is lower wages and more bonuses linked to opta stats like pass completion, tackles, km run etc.

4.) 15 Mar 2021 18:41:20
Don’t think that bonus system would work JB as they’d all just run around the pitch.
If they don’t make a pass will be 0 from 0 so 100% if they don’t tackle will be 0 from 0 so again 100%.

5.) 15 Mar 2021 19:12:51
Do your job, simple as. To many Managers coaches seem to go with their established senior players. Look beyond the trees and maybe the wood will come into view.

6.) 15 Mar 2021 19:53:53
Iwobi would earn a fortune if it was just based on running around. Gomes would owe us money.

7.) 15 Mar 2021 20:01:34
If they did just run around the pitch that would be an improvement for some. Suggesting someone would make zero passes to get extra pay is a bit daft no? What I’m saying is, performance related pay has to be on top of a minimum wage - you can’t take someone’s wage away because they’re not as skilled as another player.

8.) 16 Mar 2021 00:09:44
Have you noticed how many teams, city included play the ball around in their own half with no opponent close a 1 yard pass, then back to same player, sometimes adding up to four passes for a player in their stats.

You can look and think wow that player made 20 completed passes in a game, when in reality, it is less than half that.

Take pass stats and accuracy out of the game, and you might just se players, playing short passes to each other, with no pressure on them.

There are questions to be asked whether Everton's existing goalkeepers are good enough for what we expect from them.

Do we stand by them or else look elsewhere?

There is newspaper speculation that Man United would be looking for £40 M for Henderson and today Burnley would be looking at £50 for Pope. Obviously it's a lot of money for those two when one is not a first choice and the other plays in the bottom half of the league.

If the club were faced with costs like that, would it be better to stick with what we have and spend to strengthen in other areas?

I'm sure strengthen in other areas would be priority at the moment.

Keenone

1.) 26 Feb 2021 12:34:13
I think the goalkeeper area probably does need looking at. However if Pickford can play like he did in the Derby every game then we’d be fine. He looked a lot calmer and maybe he is finally maturing and will be the keeper we need going forward.

If not then it’s tricky.

Are Henderson and Pope that great?

Henderson was brilliant for Sheffield United but he had a good defence in front of him, however he can’t get in the Utd team ahead of de gea even though de gea has made numerous mistakes.

Pope appears outstanding but would he be as good in a different team? Burnley are set up very defensively and he has good defensive cover from his centre backs at Burnley.

Fingers crossed Pickford sorts himself out for the rest of the season and we won’t need to replace him.

2.) 26 Feb 2021 14:20:02
I would be surprised if Jordan didn't feel he was 'skating on thin ice' with Carlo personally, and must know that 'howlers' are accepted only if they come with very, very long intervals.
That said his recent performance at Anfield gave us hope that he can conquer his demons so to speak, as it was without doubt a match not without massive scrutiny.
I think this one is in our much respected manager's hands because CA will want his defence as solid as he can make it.

3.) 26 Feb 2021 14:51:07
Worth his weight against Liverpool though eh!

4.) 26 Feb 2021 17:46:26
They would be same level at best with Pickford. Dommarumma at AC on free transfer, I'm sure he is already lined up by someone else. If we did buy new keeper and sold Jordan, how much would we expect to get in today's market for him?

{Ed002's Note - Donnarumma is not moving to Everton. That is not even an option. Everton interest remains in Robin Olsen joining permanently.}

5.) 26 Feb 2021 19:59:35
With Carlo saying he will continue rotating the goalkeeper it is up to both of them to perform well to justify their selection. This should not only benefit the team it should benefit them individually. Didn’t such a situation work well with England years ago with Clemence and Shilton rotating.

It also give the manager a good look in Matches at his two goalkeepers.

6.) 27 Feb 2021 01:16:56
Albon Lafont is a good young keeper. Think he is at fiorentina but out on loan back in France. Highly rated and maybe fiorentina would cash in at right price. He may fight for place in Italy though.

{Ed077's Note - Nantes have an option to buy him from Fiorentina.}

7.) 27 Feb 2021 12:10:00
Pickford looked in better shape both mentally and physically in the derby, if we are looking to replace him our best scenario is a solid end to the season and a good euros! Maybe cash in if he stands out for the right reasons

Few options around
Rui Silva keeps getting mentions and out of contract in the summer
Gazzaniga at Spurs is rumoured to be up for sale this summer and has only 1 year remaining and could be an experienced option along with Romero who is out of contract this summer
As mentioned Pope and Henderson would be pricey
That Lafont is highly rated but as mentioned there is an option on him
I like Freddie Woodman myself ever since the England U20 sun has the right attributes for me and could be good value, perhaps in battle against Romero being rotated.

8.) 28 Feb 2021 11:31:36
He definitely looked like he had lost a bit of weight ST.

9.) 28 Feb 2021 23:02:13
Swiss guy Sommer at Borrusia Monchengladbach for me.

17 Feb 2021 09:10:26
Tiredness is being put forward as an excuse for some recent performances. Tiredness may be the REASON but is not acceptable as an excuse.
If the club and the players are serious about playing in Europe, then they have to play 2 games a week at times through the season to be successful. Therefore it is the players and clubs responsibility to get them fit to play these games.
The depth of squad may not be as most would like, but to progress then it is most likely the same starting 11 will be used most times, ie, the best 11.
They've got the best gym equipment that money can buy, the most time free to spend using it. So crack on and get fit and earn your wages.

May be the club or players have no desire to finish in the top 4 and qualify for a Champions League place.
May be the same have no desire to finish 5th or 6th as this would mean playing in Europe on Thursdays and Premier league on Sundays. That would interfere with their Saturday night social life,

I go back to the days when John Moore's was running the club and I'm sure he would never accept performances match after match that are on display today.

My personal view at the moment is that
Richarlison has decided he is leaving in the summer, Sigurdson should not be at the club never mind being a vice captain, and thirdly the club could face another Lukaku situation in that a big offer comes in this summer for Calvert Lenin and they let him leave without adequate replacement.
Carlo didn't accept performances like this when at Chelsea so shouldn't accept them now at Everton.
A new No1 goalkeeper is priority this summer to replace Pickford (Pope from Burnley) and another striker.

Keenone

1.) 30 Jan 2021 20:11:15
would offer pickford and kenny to burnley for pope. did feel as though pickford was guarding his near post to much and left all the space to his left for wildon to score, can't blame him for the result as we never looked like scoring.

2.) 31 Jan 2021 10:23:51
I suspect Calvert-Lenin is the work of predictive text but he ought to change his name to that immediately.

3.) 31 Jan 2021 16:55:45
Don't know why Burnley would take Pickford and Kenny for Pope.

07 Nov 2020 14:33:33
Three consecutive starts with Sigurddson, three consecutive defeats. Doesn't that tell you something. The fact Richarlison missing for the three games is obviously a miss but less relevant.

Woburn, all clubs will be loosing money, therefore nearly all clubs will be looking at loan players to come in or buy at below market value so for Everton to hope to sell players at current market value is nigh impossible I feel. Everyone needs to be patient I feel for the next 12 months before we get back to some normality. At least if they can loan players and get them off the payroll will be a bonus.

Read on sky page, Spurs interested now in Sissoko. Whether genuine or not remains to be seen.

Keenone

{Ed002's Note - Whilst Newcastle has said they have had no offers for Moussa Sissoko at this time, they are choosing their words carefully as there have been offers but none close to being acceptable and none even half of the asking price. An approach from Napoli was expected to yield an offer but the price was far too high for them and they won't return as business is complete for them. Everton, West Brom and Spurs are interested but at a much lower price than is being asked. Crystal Palace have already been scared off by the price. Unless a significantly higher offer is made he will stay where he is.}
