Always take what the papers say, with a large pinch of salt, however, it has been widely reported that the club have given Moyes a budget of 70mill, that may seem a lot of money however, givern that our neighbours have just spent 116 mill on one player, and seem set to spend millions more, it does put Moyes budget into perspective.
I appreciate that with European football, this gives greater spending power, but, if we are to close the gap to the top end of the prem, and given the savings that have been made getting rid of the dead wood on blowted contracts, I really was expecting our new owner to push the boat out, at least 100mill plus.

{Ed025's Note - i was hoping for more than that PSG..

1.) 19 Jun 2025 21:14:06
I’m with you Ed.

Whilst £70m is a huge amount of money - in football it’s not that much particularly for a team trying to rebuild.

If the rumours are true regards this Barry bloke and the £35m fee then that’s half the rumoured budget gone already!

Hopefully whatever money is available is used wisely for a change and we buy players in positions we need, who haven’t suffered numerous injuries and are a young enough age which will allow us to if need be re-sell them in the future.

{Ed025's Note - yeah im with you Dan, £70m is just not enough im afraid mate..

2.) 19 Jun 2025 21:59:56
If Moyes is astute as he always seems to be and with the possibility of up to 4 loans, it may be sensible not to blow more than £70m.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think its about blowing it Will...its an investment, if you have any ambition you have to keep up with the Jones,s in this league mate or you will be left behind im afraid, imo £70m gets you two above average players on good wages...im afraid we need more than that..

3.) 19 Jun 2025 22:44:49
It might sound like a daft question but what is restricting us so much?

We’ve made losses for 5 years in a row. It can’t just be wages causing us to have such huge debts. I believed it was building the stadium and associated costs but thought PSR didn’t take infrastructure or development into account. Fed up of massive restrictions when we have a top ten attendance in the league and our matchday turnover isn’t awful.

Why are we so broke each year? Where is all the expenditure going?

I’m not saying we should have £100s to spend each year but we have no chance to compete in the current climate.

4.) 19 Jun 2025 22:48:00
I get some of the sentiments but given our financial situation over the past couple of seasons, is it a surprise that we don't have a shed load full of money to spend?

PSR is still an ongoing issue, and we need to manage our balance sheet carefully. Hopefully after a couple of years at BMD we'll be able to have more to spend.

Rome wasn't built in a day guys.

5.) 20 Jun 2025 07:53:39
2 goalies
2 right backs
1.left back
1 central defender
2 midfielders,
2 right wingers
1 / 2 strikers
All for 70 million.

{Ed025's Note - looks like we will be shopping in Aldi Pasty mate.. :)

6.) 20 Jun 2025 10:37:35
70m is more than enough unless you want to pay over the odds for bang average players. let's not forget the league is rigged to allow certain clubs the ability avoid PSR sanctions via creative accounting methods.

7.) 20 Jun 2025 11:26:28
Said it before, sell Goodison to Everton women's team. Better still employ Chelsea's accountants.

8.) 20 Jun 2025 13:02:50
No wonder we’re dabbling in the out of contract market. As people have already mentioned £70mil isn’t a lot for a rebuild

This is potentially why we are looking at the “out of contract market” with additions like walker, to plug a gap til next season. Not the perfect signing but an important one.

Sign 3 half decent players on a free. A few loans.

It means we can wisely spend the £70m on 2-3 young players.

It’s possible to improve the squad with that budget if we are smart.

It’s critical to get those players like Walker though IMO. He can do a job for 12 months.

It personally brings things back into perspective for me.

13 Jun 2025 22:41:28
Even Ferguson, do apparently tick all the boxes, including the one that says, couldn't hit a barn door at ten yeards .
Than you but we have already been down that road with Maypay.
Don't let's be cond again by a Brighton reject .

13 Jun 2025 11:51:58
Ed25. Has Brownhill signed a new contract with Burnley, or is he still available on a free?
18 goals last season, and still only 28, and yes, they were in the championship, but on a free, seems a no brainer as a squad player .

PSGBLUE

{Ed025's Note - hes in advanced talks with Wet Spam i hear PSG..

1.) 13 Jun 2025 20:40:57
Are we in ‘advanced talks’ with anyone Ed or just negotiating with Tetley to sort out Doris’ supply at BMD?

{Ed025's Note - a couple of things have gone tits up lately concerning targets BR, but its very early in the piece yet mate, im convinced we will get a few big names in but think we will have to be patient..

2.) 13 Jun 2025 20:48:17
He must like playing in claret. I'd rather we went for Hamer to play same position.

3.) 13 Jun 2025 22:41:16
Thought you were going to say ‘PG Tips up’ Ed!

Do other clubs experience such troubles with transfers? We somehow manage to have our cockups in the public eye.

I’m sure we will sign more players - I just hope it doesn’t end in us being held to random over targets and paying over the odds in desperation.

{Ed025's Note - im hoping thats not the case BR, i actually trust our owners to do the right thing...and i have not said that for many years mate..

4.) 14 Jun 2025 00:04:08
Hope so Ed.

The business deals so far seem sensible and they have moved some overpaid players on so there seems to be hope.

{Ed025's Note - very much so BR, this is a re-invention of the club and to me the future is looking brighter than it has for many a year mate..

02 Jun 2025 12:46:45
More paper talk about Dohk from our nabours, and yes he's a good player, but 25/ 30 million, when to going rate for fellows is believe to be 12/ 15 milk really does not make any seance. Both have built their reputations in the championship, both look good, so I don't get the disparities in price?

PSGBLUE

{Ed025's Note - i cant see us paying that sort of money for Doak PSG, £10-15m maybe otherwise i would say no deal mate..

1.) 02 Jun 2025 13:43:50
Has only got 1 year on his contract at liverpool aswell scored 3 goals in championship this season me personally havnt seen him play only going by stats but I agree ed 025 15 million would be reasonable can play both flanks but heard he has had 2 bad injuries this season aswell.

2.) 02 Jun 2025 15:06:40
Better championship players out there. He might be decent in 4-5 years time but we need players for now.

26 Apr 2025 09:31:43
I am truly grateful for Moyes saving our club from relegation, and the damage it would have done to our club. However, some resent rumours leave me greatly concerned that we might be about to repeat some of our recent disastrous decisions.

Signing old stars, past there best on big money long term deals. Lindooft, from united, the two from west ham, plus resigning Keane, or god for bid Harrison, such steps are what put us in this mess.

Without detracting from Moyes achievements, it should be acknowledged that our salvation was considerably assisted by the lamentable quality of the three promote clubs.

The future is surly in young, hungry individuals, and yes they may require some polishing, and will make mistakes along the way, but they would have to be real accident-prone to match the frailtys of a Keane.
I hope my fears are routed in paper rumours, I just don't want our new dawn to fail on a repeat of past mistakes.

PSGBLUE

1.) 26 Apr 2025 11:34:41
Don’t believe everything you see on the internet, Moyes strongest asset is his eye for a player, pienaar cahill yobo the list goes on and on even soucek and coufal at West Ham all relatively unknown. Let’s wait until we actually see the signings he makes before judging?

2.) 26 Apr 2025 12:01:38
I totally agree with you PSG. Today’s team sheet speaks volumes. Why oh why pick Harrison yet again and Doucouré and leave out Alcarez. Surely with safety now assured we should be experimenting with some of our younger players to see if they can make the step up next season. Moyes must know by now who he wants to keep and who is not good enough, us fans certainly do. Why keep picking players who in our eyes have no future at the club. Now is the perfect time to blood certain players and maybe save ourselves some money and wages in the transfer window.

3.) 26 Apr 2025 14:29:31
He sees them all in training week in week out.

4.) 26 Apr 2025 14:57:41
Moyes has not saved us. I never liked Dyche, but as quite a few reckoned, under Dyche we would have finished 15th to 17th. Same as with the messiah who a lot wanted back. Both Dyche and Moyes are like a mathematical equation. Both have a common denominator. Neither go out to win. One went out to not concede goals, the other not to lose. All very well and dandy, but, neither methods will get you challenging for a top 6/ 7 place or, winning a cup to qualify for europe. Successful sides go out to win and have big players some with egos. Neither Dyche or Moyes handle egos or big players. Moyes proved this at Man Utd and in Spain. Both build sides with workhorses and then when gone someone has a mess to sort out. I said some months ago Moyes was not the answer for long term success and nothing has changed my mind. So we enter the final games next week and wonder where we will end up. At least not in the Championship.

5.) 26 Apr 2025 15:38:49
Will all change next season Nick, Davey will be be with several new recruits mate, exciting times am glad this season is almost over and he can rebuild in the summer, we stayed up end of mission for him.

6.) 26 Apr 2025 16:27:34
Moyes may well see them all in training but that does not always equate to which players to give time to. I read week in week out how improved in training Harrison is, gets to match time and he is consistently lacking. He may well run his legs off, but when it comes to crossing a ball he is rubbish. We need to give game time to Alcarez, Chermiti, Tim not to mention several in the under 21 team.

7.) 26 Apr 2025 17:58:03
Get used to it, I wouldn't expect much to change next season under DM.

8.) 26 Apr 2025 18:02:14
Of course it does we only see part of it he sees it all, would prefer his judgement myself, but only my opinion also let’s see who comes in in the summer and just as important who goes then we can have a gripe YY.

9.) 26 Apr 2025 18:03:08
Yes SD would have kept us up but we wouldn't be safe yet and if you think that being safe on last day is acceptable then you're mad. Moyes clearly has saved us and saved the fans from the doom. And for the 3rd time in 4 weeks I'll end with "raised form breeds raised expectations" DMs going to get a predictable backlash now but until we sign some new players, we have what we have. I agree Alcarez should play more but clearly something with his deal and the financials is being played out and why not as we are safe. Barely any of us can name a youth player let alone a few to step up as we don't have any close enough. Also we have had 5 seriously tough opponents. I'm chuffed generally but now it's all about next season. This ones done. Still think we get a few more wins and will be in mid 40s and SD would be nowhere near that haul. Get real.

10.) 26 Apr 2025 18:37:39
Sensible post FBS, until Davey has his own new recruits no point moaning our Team is what it is, we stayed up end of now on to exciting times.

11.) 26 Apr 2025 21:38:28
Dyche this season didn't remotely look like getting us to 15th. TFG made the right call at the right time and it worked out forbtheir investment.

12.) 27 Apr 2025 09:41:20
Yam Yam, which several u21 players should get game time?

13.) 27 Apr 2025 10:43:32
Martin Sharif, Omari Benjamin, Roman Dixon to name but 3. Our current strike force week in week out sadly lacking, we could do worse than giving these guys a shot. Same with Dixon. Ok they might make mistakes but it’s all about getting experience and seeing how these guys can step up. We have nothing to lose in our last few games and who knows we might be surprised.

{Ed025's Note - i think your right YY and cant believe we are playing the same 11 virtually every week mate, i dont want to have a go at at the manager because he has done well results wise but should he really be playing players who have no future with us?, or do Leopards never change their spots?, we will certainly have a better clue when next season starts when hopefully we will have cleared out the dross and brought in some good players..

14.) 27 Apr 2025 16:49:14
I don't think we should have an under 21 team. We should play the u18s there instead as it will teach them how to play against bigger, stronger, faster players as i find u21 to be sterile and doesn't provide the appropriate schooling for young players.

Any players they thunk potentially able to make the first team they could send on loan to Championship or abroad to prove they can make it. The list of previous players proves this to be a more effective method to develop players.

15.) 27 Apr 2025 18:00:32
Think Ipswich Leicester and Southampton kept us up.

16.) 27 Apr 2025 23:42:49
The one answer to concern about Moyes. Our new owner are not big on sentementalty, they have shown at Roma, if the manager does not deliver, afder they have put in squad building support, he is very quickly, down the road, regardless of their attachment to the clubs history.
So, I am far from convinced the he is the man to return Everton to football's top table, but the proof of the pudding will quickly show in the results, but please, no more players brought in at the fag end of their sell by date, big contracts that if they don't deliver, cannot be moved on because they are on redicles wages.

17.) 28 Apr 2025 18:07:04
DM has given us what some of the fans, me included, thought was beyond our capabilities, that is PL football at BMD.
When I read stuff about the Hammers and the predicament they are in now and how Potter has pretty much failed to ignite them, I wonder what's next for us, TFG as previously mentioned seem to put results before over sentimentality etc. .
Our new stadium plus investment in new players will certainly be a new benchmark for the supporters and owners alike, I hope David Moyes does well next season, I really do because I am sure the scrutiny dial will be turned up a tad.

18.) 30 Apr 2025 08:11:01
Didn't people say the same about Dyche when he was in charge? 'He sees O'Brien in training every day so he knows what he is doing" Mmmm.

Till July 1st, the whole bit in the gutter press about who we are going to sign, or who we have missed out on, is all ill informed nonsence. frustrating yes, but click baite crap, I'm pretty confident the new management team will get it right. From a personal view as long as we don't bring in player at the Twilight of there career I will be happy with their decisions.

19 Jun 2025 10:57:00
In two or three years time, Dibling, might be a player, but, givern our budget, are needs are for players, ready to go now.
Investing in young player with potential, is a good strategy, but, young under developed players, at the right price, yes, but this boy, played for Southampton, last game at goodison, no impact and taken off, so, a year or two, may be some player, but big money now, not what we need.

PSGBLUE

1.) 19 Jun 2025 11:19:30
Are we being linked with him?

2.) 19 Jun 2025 12:17:45
Is Dibling better than what we have right now in the positions he plays - absolutely he is. He can cover the entire right side and judging him on his attributes, would also be able to play in the 10 comfortably.

Judging a player off 1 game is pointless. The game was a dead rubber. Their season was over. It was our last home game etc etc.

There is a reason the big clubs are after him. The lad has bags of ability but also has the physicality to deal with the roughness of the PL. Having both of those at the age of 19 is why top sides are after him and we certainly don't need to worry about him coming to us or not this summer.

3.) 19 Jun 2025 14:18:06
any other year i'd say yes to Dibling, however yeah agreed for the money he's not quite ready to be a main main man, so we're better spending elsewhere

if we had a set squad and were comfortable in most positions no brainer, but in a summer like this it's a no.

4.) 19 Jun 2025 14:22:05
It seems that some of our fans don't know what they want. They wanted players in at start of the window even though we are all still dealing with psr until the end of this month. Some don't want players over the age of 30, despite our player of the season being a ripe, old age of 35. Some have called for young players to be bought, especially those with resale value, yet we bring in young players of that ilk and that isn't good enough either!

5.) 19 Jun 2025 14:54:01
The only link to this lad was when Talk rubbish said he would be better coming to us than Liverpool or one of the other Sky Six.
All a load of cobblers.

6.) 19 Jun 2025 17:47:34
Spot on BP.

I couldn't really care less about the granular details of who comes in and with what profile, other than one fundamental factor - do they improve the team and make us better on the football pitch. Other than that, who cares.

7.) 19 Jun 2025 18:41:29
Couldn’t have said it better.
If we buy a player who improves our team for this season then I’m all for it.
Missing the football already though, the international stuff’s just not cutting it.

17 Jun 2025 10:23:24
I understand that the club can't risk any big money transfers until the end of the financial year, 1st of July, might mean we miss out on one or two top targets, but better than risking another points deduction s .
However, one think they are able to do is to give Branthwaight, a new and much improved contract, and all the rumours about a sale will go away, that would be a statement about the club's direction and might, help in attracting, those players we are trying to bring in .

PSGBLUE

1.) 17 Jun 2025 13:01:37
Any signings can be scheduled to start 1st of July to get round PSR I would imagine the delay is nothing to do with PSR just trying to agree terms in general with the players and their agents. As for Jarrad he is contract is till 2027 with a 1 year option so I don't see why we need to give him a pay rise. Jurno's won't stop speculating about him being transferred even if he gets a new contract plus he would leave if he wanted to anyway.

2.) 19 Jun 2025 07:38:25
sa90 yep!

16 Jun 2025 23:03:45
Watched around 30 minutes of joke world cup. Ground 3/ 4 empty, no atmosphere, judging the way Chelsea shuffled about, none of those players wanted to be there, yes, one of the biggest clubs will walk away with a big bag of cash, that aside, no bloody point .

PSGBLUE

1.) 17 Jun 2025 07:42:53
Come the start of the season they will be moaning there playing to many games.

14 Jun 2025 12:13:14
I bet Delap is really pleased with his choice, now that Chelsea are looking to sign another high profile sticker.

PSGBLUE

1.) 14 Jun 2025 14:11:24
He won't be bothered, footballers will go to whoever is paying them the most money, if he has to sit on the bench getting paid millions he won't give a toss.

2.) 14 Jun 2025 15:23:09
Take him on loan.

3.) 14 Jun 2025 17:59:03
Yeah he must be kicking himself what with a world club cup a CL and a club back in the mix of the top 4. Rory! He says to himself, why oh why didn't you sign for Everton? You silly billy. Talk about throwing his career away eh.

4.) 14 Jun 2025 19:45:51
He’s getting a pretty penny. I doubt he has any regrets at the moment.

5.) 16 Jun 2025 16:11:24
It's not about Club World cups or CL. It's about money. As long as their paying him he don't care were he sits.
