Watched inacho from Leicester tonight, would be top of my list of available options to back up dcl.

Rich76

1.) 10 Aug 2023 06:31:25
I'd not want him if he's only good enough to be back up. We need to sign player who are good enough to keep our supposed 1st choice striker out the team. We'll never improve by just signing back ups.

2.) 10 Aug 2023 09:47:50
Is this because he scored a little flick, unmarked in the 6 yard box against Burton Albion?

Not a chance he scores that type of goal in the Pl, not to mention the lad had a handful more chances in that game and showed poor finishing.

3.) 10 Aug 2023 11:15:32
No- it was his work rate, runs off the ball etc. for me if we set a style of play to suit dcl then we need an option who is similar.

4.) 10 Aug 2023 11:52:23
It's sad how far we have fallen when some sections of our fan base would like to sign this lad. He's about as prolific in the premier league as Maupay was at Brighton. We do need someone through the door asap but it will probably be a desperation buy.

5.) 10 Aug 2023 17:49:44
Not many prolific no9s about, and the position were in both financially and appeal it is, a sad state of affairs.
Ready made option to dcl and probably attainable, at least he could lead the better than maupay. We have to improve on and off the pitch to allow us shop at the other end, I want a Ferrari but have to stick with a merc ?
Who would you realistically prefer.

6.) 10 Aug 2023 18:52:00
Rich, not entirely sure mate in all honesty. Not sure how much we really have to spend and, like you say, there's not too many top goalscorers about.
We have to be prudent with what cash we spend so I wouldn't buy a player just because he's available and has been ok in the prem. We've been down that road numerous times, Maupay being the latest. If push comes to shove, and it's admittedly not ideal either, is to utilise Dobbins. Maybe out wide and then push the lad on loan centrally when DCL isn't available or selected. Whatever way we go, it needs to be soon mate, days away from the first game without too many new faces is making me nervous!

7.) 10 Aug 2023 22:36:32
Totally agree with where you’re coming, our transfer policy has been crazy for years, dof, managers, chairman, owners who knows what goes on.
I think it makes sense having someone with similar attributes to dcl, and let them fight if out for the starting pick. I’m all for a plan b&c when things aren’t working in a game or to suit an opponent but we’re hampered by dcl fitness issues and play the same way with a midget up top.

8.) 11 Aug 2023 12:48:37
Agreed, rich. At least we have one through the door today, hopefully this lad can force his way into the first team.
That's the one thing that makes me feel a bit sorry for Maupay tbh mate, the team style doesn't change whether he's up top or DCL, which doesn't help the dormers cause really. I'd like to see him just behind the CF as I reckon he would be better in a duo rather than isolated on his own up front. Doubt we will see that though as I expect both him and DG to be sold before the end of this window, replacements permitting that is.

Early Days but I think Luton and Sheffield Utd, look the most likely to go down, don't think either will get many points. Wolves have a tough start and a change of manager. Steady start and keep above these three we'll be ok.

Rich76

1.) 09 Aug 2023 13:50:00
Strange league mate not many would have expected Leicester to go down will be interesting again this season but hey we will be ok.

2.) 09 Aug 2023 14:25:39
If only football was that simple, Sheffield United have a very good disciplined side and Luton have momentum and could do what Bournemouth did first season and surprise everyone you just never know.

3.) 09 Aug 2023 19:49:45
Watch a few Luton games last year and it was similar to MMA. They won’t get away with that at the top table.

Spoke to a few red mates and most wouldn’t have Rafa back if Klopp left. Safe appointment, but always remember him wanting to sell Alonzo to buy Barry.

1.) 18 Jun 2021 13:37:21
Speak to a few blues we wouldn't have moyes back, but this is football it's become a monster whoever they decide on it needs to be right as another change in a season would be a disaster.

2.) 18 Jun 2021 14:14:54
Which is really funny because moyes had us playing some lovley football but since he left the football we have played has mostly been poor. And yet some fans would not have him back. we call ourselves the greatest fans lol. Nothing could be further from the truth in reality. I think most of our fans only care about their own peraonal pride rather than what is good for the club.

3.) 18 Jun 2021 17:30:21
He also had us consistent top 7. Media inspired perhaps but he was not a failure at Utd either just player disliked. I think his sta5s there were only second or third to Ferguson. Only place he failed was abroad and even the great Gary (I know everything) Neville was second to Moyes there LOL.

4.) 18 Jun 2021 19:26:47
I am sorry toffeeblue but there may have been flashes of lovely football under Moyes but no more than flashes! . Credit where credit is due but Martinez (with Moyes players I’d admit - but that actually is a negative to Moyes) but that 1st season under RM got us Evertonians believing again and then feel actually gave us some pride back. Granted it rapidly went down hill from there but there is no doubt it was that season that he got us believing again!

Strange couple of days, was coming round to Nuno, can't get exited by Rafa, Martinez ( could buy the style of defenders wanted when here last, has he improved and developed) .
Need to turn phone off. What will be, will be.
Who ever comes in will be sink or swim. Fingers crossed they make the right decision.

1.) 17 Jun 2021 16:48:17
Well I'm an Everton fan and he has no right to speak for me, how dose he know I won't have it?

2.) 17 Jun 2021 17:16:14
Don’t knock a legend mate, best keeper in the world at one time, and still a passionate blue. Might not be speaking for you, but he will be speaking for many.

3.) 17 Jun 2021 17:52:46
Not for me either, if we get Rafa we have the best chance to claw our way back into the top 6.

4.) 17 Jun 2021 18:19:29
You don't have to tell me about Southall Woburn mate I remember Kendal buying him I was stood in the street end well before he was goalkeeper. Yes he was the best in the world at one time but that doesn't make him correct.

5.) 17 Jun 2021 19:10:08
No but he is entitled to give his opinion, and many supporters agree with him. You don’t and that’s fine. It’s all a matter of opinions and I agree with the big man.
By the way I was in the boys pen from 1964, not even sure Nev was born then.

Will be interesting to see how Batshuayi does at palace. I believe it’s a loan so there is a chance to go back in the summer or we may have other targets. No panic. give Cenk a run of games, work with what we have at see where we are at the end of the season.

It’s typically us to chase an un saleable player for the whole window. We tried our best to get the lad in, smoke and mirrors, typical Bill’s theatrics, broja last year, Gallagher etc, not going to happen.
We have one main objective this window and it’s a no9 ready to go in. How many windows are we asking them same question, we about to play the second game, and dcl already played this week so unlikely play, so pint size back up top, might as well Chuck Keane up there ?.
So frustrating.

Would have to agree with some of the other posters, todays market is high, pay up or go away 80m to start a conversation.

Morning guys. I think I’m correct, Mendes is on the board at Wolves, so we may be giving Nuno undue stick regards transfer policy. Rumours are they parted ways due to not being able to meet his ambition, he needed to rebuild again. Last season was poor due to selling key players and losing several key players. They were a match for most teams since coming up. Not my first choice, but think he will do well.

Could be a sensible signing, he’s not on massive wages at Southampton, strong and direct, better than maupay, wouldn’t be disappointed if he signed.
