I see Brendan Rodgers has just joined Leicester.

I can see them being top 6 contenders next season a great signing for the club.

I don't get it Son of Grumpy. He did well at Swansea, arguably under achieved at Liverpool and won nothing. I'm not sure about Celtic because he has only won what i suppose we would expect him to win.
It will be interesting to see how he does but his last season at Liverpool was shocking.

2.) 26 Feb 2019 17:00:08
Good luck to him if he makes it a success at Leicester, what's that got to do with Everton?

Hi Everyone.
Well what can I say?
I think even dad would of had a hard time trying to justify the mess we find ourselves in, he was so stubborn though he would of somehow found a way.

With the mess we are in I think we need to go back to basics, I don't think MS is the one who can take us to that point.

I see a few think that letting David Moyse return would be a major step backwards, from what I have seen over the last dozen or so games, It would be a massive step forward, I do however agree that he would not have what it takes to move us up to the level of play that the top 4 or 5 teams produce week in week out.

No matter how much we all want us to be successful and become a genuine team that other teams dread playing against, we will not achieve it if we stay as we are. If MS is still here next season I honestly fear for us. If Liverpool win the title this season (Which they have a great chance of doing) the stick we will get from them will be nothing compared to the stick they will give us next season if we are relegation candidates and fighting for premiership survival.

Personally I do not care how many managers we end up having as long as at the end of the day we finally get the right one for us.

Take care

Tony.

You lad are spot on. It's bloody hard. Main thing, blood first.

2.) 09 Feb 2019 20:41:23
David Moyes: No.

3.) 09 Feb 2019 20:53:20
Moyes definitely a no for me, but hey mate who am I to say Yeh or Neh but something has to change.

4.) 09 Feb 2019 21:39:36
On the plus side he'd sort the defense out and we wouldn't concede so many. Pretty much everything that Silva can't.

{Ed0333's Note - I’ve said it till I’m blue in the face lads Rafa is you’re guy if you can get past the Liverpool connection. You need someone who will propel you to the next level which is European places. He’s a savvy & experienced premiership manager with a smorgorsboard of contacts in world football in my honest opinion relatively speaking I don’t think you could do better.

5.) 09 Feb 2019 21:42:02
We have a squad, they are on the whole a good bunch of players. Save money in the long run. Bin the fraud and hire someone like Benitez or Hughton of that ilk, people you know learn and adapt.

{Ed025's Note - but are our players really all that DFS?, i cant see one leader out there, i dont see a player who can beat a man or a player who attacks the ball, maybe this clear out you want needs to be a bit bigger mate..

6.) 09 Feb 2019 21:49:14
Never knew your Dad personally lad, suspect his call would have been the sane as the rest of us, of experience over this period.

{Ed025's Note - i still think of grumpy now and again, great guy...bloody old moaner mind..but sorely missed.. :)

7.) 09 Feb 2019 21:52:31
They don't listen ed333, been the ob ious choice for months.

{Ed025's Note - liverpool fans would just love that, one of their cast off,s managing the little club everton...keep that fat spanish waiter well away from our door, if he was not good enough for them then why should he be good enough for us?..

8.) 09 Feb 2019 22:08:36
Still loved by them Ed. don't know about your lot but mine (Reds) , are beside themselves lol.

{Ed025's Note - my 2 lads are red DFS and they like him..which is probably why i dont mate..

9.) 09 Feb 2019 22:15:01
Can't stick with this one ED.

{Ed025's Note - i agree, but lets not panic and get the wrong man again mate..

10.) 09 Feb 2019 23:22:18
Your right Eds there's no leader on the park mate no one with the balls to take control and have a go at the ones who's not given there 10% let alone 100% half the team don't look interested mate.

{Ed025's Note - they are not buying into the plan penysarn...whatever that plan actually is?..

11.) 09 Feb 2019 23:34:40
I was going to say Eds do we have a plan mate. A lot of people say Moyes back mate what do you think at least he shows some passion even when he left was a bit stupid.

{Ed025's Note - i bloody hope not penysarn, i know we are in dire straits but i dont want that gollum faced traitor anywhere near my club mate..

12.) 09 Feb 2019 23:42:25
That will do for me mate.

13.) 09 Feb 2019 23:53:42
Rafa at Everton? HA! He's a red through and through.

{Ed0333's Note - Lets take this off topic for a second and rise above tribal allegiances, red or blue, wouldn’t it be a wonderful notion in life if we could just forgive someone’s past. Execute some compassion and forgiveness from time to time. I have no malice towards Trevor Steven for breaking Jim begins leg or Lucas Mouri intentionally derailing Divock Origis career with a snide ‘tackle’ it’s all part and parcel of life. I feel we have to use context in all situations. Rafa called Everton a ‘small club’ because you were his enemy in battle and in the heat of war you can generally be forgiven for incendiary remarks, It’s evidence of his passion for his employers. How many diatribes did Jose launch at United while he was boss of Chelsea that still didn’t stop him getting a job for the red half of Manchester. If Jurgen Klopp employed Neville Southall as Liverpool goalkeeping coach tommorow I would rejoice because I don’t see barriers I only see what’s best for my football club. What’s best for you’re club in my opinion is someone like Rafa Benitez not because it’s funny him being an ex red etc but because and I say this again and again IN MY HUMBLE SUBJECTIVE OPINION he would be a very smart acquisition in context of where you are as a football club right now.

14.) 10 Feb 2019 06:35:37
I understand what you're saying Ed, but I don't support Everton, I support Liverpool. I just browse a lot of the different sites and occasionally throw a bit of banter or chime in on the discussions.

I agree that he'd be a smart choice for Everton, but I just don't think he'd ever accept it. His loyalties lay with Liverpool, that much is very clear to see and I believe even when he wasn't employed by Liverpool, he said there are two teams he can never manage, Everton and Manchester United.

I would be disappointed if he became Everton manager, but I wouldn't disregard the fact that he won the CL and FA in his first two seasons for Liverpool.
That could all change though, because if he was Everton manager, and all Liverpool needed was a point at Goodison to win the league and he stopped us winning the league. I'd be pretty mad lol xD.

{Ed0333's Note - my point still stands mate. If Rafa’s loyalty was to Liverpool why did he take the Newcastle job? I have no idea if Rafa to Everton would ever happen but if they offered him 10 million a year I’m sure he’d consider it regardless of wether he’s said he’d never manage Everton. I tell you what mate if United offered him a job you’re telling me hed say no? How many times have you had an argument with you’re partner and said that’s it we’re done and I never wanna see you again and 3 hours later you’re kissing the face off each other? People say things in the heat of the moment but the beauty is we have the liberty to change our minds.

15.) 10 Feb 2019 08:12:05
It's pointless panicking mid season. Like Moshiri says let's hold our nerve.
If things don't improve then he will have to go in the summer.
But getting rid now and who comes in?

16.) 10 Feb 2019 09:07:39
I’m not sure panic is the word but our form this year says we will be heading in one direction and that’s downwards the saving grace is there are four or mote teamsworse than us.
I still fail to understand what the board saw in Silva to give him this job, he is Martinez reincarnate and his CV wouldn’t be the most inspirational read!
However we play the blame game as usual it is the supporters that feel the pain!

17.) 10 Feb 2019 10:06:42
On reflection smit and nursing a slight headache (must be coming down with something LOL) , it is wise to wait till summer. It wouldn't surprise me if the feelers are already out.

18.) 10 Feb 2019 10:50:29
Fully agree DFS, I hope the feelers are out.

19.) 10 Feb 2019 12:58:24
He needs to pull this round, big time in the remaining fixtures or he will be gone by the end of the season.
One thing that baffled me yesterday was the inclusion of Siggy. I love the player but maybe we need a high energy no 10 Like Davies.
Mina has to replace Zouma out of circumstance but I'd rather he replace Keane.

20.) 10 Feb 2019 14:46:16
Rafa would be my first, second and third choice but I think the main stumbling block would be that he would want full control over all transfers, not sure how it would play out with Brands.

21.) 10 Feb 2019 16:42:30
I'm not sure son of Grumpy, he has no control over transfers at Newcastle.
Most big teams work that way now, so unless he's going to move to a smaller club he might as well stay where he is.

4 Bookings 2 Sending offs in 3 games.

Don't know about the dogs of war, it's more like resevoir dogs now.

One thing is a certainty and that is we will struggle to win the fair play award this season.

Oh happy days.

Son of Grumpy

1.) 26 Aug 2018 16:04:05
Finally SOG we have some bite in our team.

2.) 26 Aug 2018 21:48:16
Needs to be tempered though lads. The reality is we are already 4 points behind the top 3 and currently sitting 8th (where we finished) and not played any of the so-called top sides. In all honesty we should also be sitting on 9 points and if we had been disciplined and cut out the silliness we would be. Like everyone else I like what I see attack wise and we now have a team where every player is in his preferred position. Brands and Silva now need to be ruthless and tell the likes of Bainsie and Jags they are no longer first choice.

3.) 27 Aug 2018 09:12:12
I'd lower the eyes KTF and anyone else dreaming of 6th upwards. Let's get the players understanding the ethos at the club before thinking of the top 6.

If we are 3 to 6 points behind them by March then start believing we can do it. Personally, 8th would be fine for me and then build from solid foundations for next season.

Progress can't be made in three games.

4.) 27 Aug 2018 13:16:07
My expectations BlueJohnUns (and realistic imo) are no lower than 7th/ 8th and no lower than 10th come January then push on.

Once our new stadium is built will we be liable for ground rent?
If so does it affect the FFP for Everton in any way?

Son of Grumpy

{Ed002's Note - The land is to leased once planning permission is given - so the lease has to be paid. There is sadly no point in me explaining the FFP implications.}

1.) 11 Aug 2018 18:41:32
Thanks Ed,
I just wasn't sure if ground rent was to be paid on top of the lease fee. My mind can once again be rested.

{Ed002's Note - The lease that is agreed at the moment just covers the land, not the stadium.}

I am now thinking of getting rid of Sky TV,

I can't believe the cheek of them talking about other teams.

GET BACK ON TO EVERTON!

I believe none of the new lot are playing tomorrow which is to be expected really. Be nice if they all made their debuts at Goodison.
