Geuye is in France having a medical today if reports are true. So expect to see some fast movement for his replacement.

Ed, do you think Chelsea would do business on a permanent Zouma deal, or are they just loaning him until the time is right to use him?

Toffee ace

{Ed002's Note - At the moment it is a straight loan and given they are in the process of making changes at CB by next season he would likely end up as cover. If he were to ask to leave and decide on Everton as his next destination, then Everton need to make a proposal to Chelsea about buying him at the end of his loan in the summer. If the player wants to leave and the proposed deal satisfies all parties, then it may be an option - but there is some interest from elsewhere.}

1.) 13 Jan 2019 19:52:52
Great info. Thanks Ed002.

2.) 13 Jan 2019 21:43:43
Pity about interest from elsewhere but I have to say not surprising. I knew the lad was a good player having watched him and then for us. I particularly like his runs out of defence. Seems to me our loans (apart from Digne) are were our best business.

Ed002, you mentioned yesterday that Chelsea had pulled out of pursuing Bernard because he was a bit light weight for the league. Reports today are saying they could still come back in. Do you know if there is any truth to these reports? Or has their stance not changed.

Toffee ace

{Ed002's Note - I explained what I know.}

1.) 07 Aug 2018 14:16:57
Lightweight? Never understood this term. If that’s the case surely when the likes of Silva and Coutinho come to the Prem they were also “lightweight”? Players adapt.

2.) 07 Aug 2018 15:20:23
I agree BitterBlue. Was it Joninhio who played for Middlesbrough years ago who was about 6 stone soaking wet? There are plenty of examples of small players that made it in the premier league.

3.) 07 Aug 2018 17:07:30
They get more protection these days too. It’s more whether they can adapt to the culture and the climate - living in Ukraine should mean Liverpool will be cosmopolitan by comparison.

Ed, Do we get anything from the Deulofeu sale from Barcelona to Watford? Not sure if we had a sell on clause.

Toffee ace

{Ed001's Note - I don't believe so.}

1.) 11 Jun 2018 17:35:15
Thanks Ed.

2.) 11 Jun 2018 20:52:37
We DO indeed get something from Deulofeu's sale. It was in the original agreement that should Barcelona buy him back he had to be in the 1st team squad for a year. If he was subsequently sold AFTER that season Everton receive a percentage of the sell on fee. That was from Martinez at the time of the initial deal.

3.) 13 Jun 2018 01:41:45
We get to laugh at Watford.

Question for Ed 002. You mentioned that SA and CS were the choice of Walsh, so he's had his way on that one. Has this caused a shift in transfer priority as we've been led to believe from Koemans time that we needed a striker and a left sided defender? And do you know of any players in particular that we are pursuing as all we seem to see are random names in the media.

Toffee ace

{Ed002's Note - It won't change anything - the club need to get out of where they are now. January may well see Sandro Ramirez return to Spain with Valencia or Espanyol and could see Ross Barkley depart as well. The club are looking at trying to get a deal for Theo Walcott (F) - he is wanted by Sam Allardyce and his time at Arsenal is drawing to a close as he is doing no more than stagnating now, so it makes sense. Whether it will to him or not I don't know. Richmond Boakye (S) is a player Walsh is keen on and I assume he would have discussed him with SA by now - so an approach is not out of the question. Ezri Konsa (CB) is a youngster who thinks he can walk in to any EPL first team - we will see if Everton maintain that interest or if SA would prefer a more humble addition. Everton will be looking for a new lift back and if they want a slight risk then I expect Luke Shaw will be available. Steve Walsh had sent a scout to watch Marcel Halstenberg but it is hard to see him being available in January nor being interested in a move to a club without Champions League prospects. Sam Allardyce will no doubt have some ideas as well.}

Great reply ed002.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks.}

2.) 06 Dec 2017 15:40:56
Thank you Ed002. Interesting read.

3.) 06 Dec 2017 15:45:02
Would Sandro be a loan or permanent to your knowledge, Ed?

{Ed002's Note - They would look for a loan to buy I would think.}

4.) 06 Dec 2017 15:50:07
hi ed what are the chances of Shaw on a loan? I suspect ManU would want to get a permanent transfer if possible just wondering if a loan with reasonably fee would be considered.

{Ed002's Note - They will look to sell if they can - I think a loan less likely. There will be flurry of left-backs moving in the coming months and they won't want to end up stuck.}

5.) 06 Dec 2017 16:39:50
Could you see mirallas leave ed? Cheers mate.

{Ed002's Note - I suspect in the summer.}

6.) 06 Dec 2017 18:05:00
Wow. Cracking info Ed 002. Much appreciated.

7.) 06 Dec 2017 19:02:34
Fantastic reply ed, could you see Schneiderlin or Klassen leaving too in January or the summer? Seem neither Klassen or Sandro are rated highly at the club.

{Ed002's Note - The summer would be more likely.}

8.) 06 Dec 2017 20:06:09
Thanks for the reply ed.

{Ed002's Note - you are welcome.}

9.) 06 Dec 2017 21:08:06
Hi ed I never heard of richmond boakye is this lad any good seen YouTube videos of him but they can make average players look world beaters.

{Ed002's Note - a lot of clubs have taken a look but nobody is biting which may say a bit.}

10.) 07 Dec 2017 07:25:40
Boakye could be an amazing signing if he can adapt to the Premier League, which is always the million dollar question!
Could be a pacy combination up front with Bolasie which definitely wouldn’t allow teams to settle when we break!

Let’s see what happens.

11.) 08 Dec 2017 07:51:36
Think we need to see what will be. My immediate concern is Sunday and the fear we may need to wait a while for another 3 bus's.

Looks Like Dyche. Which is interesting as he’s at my works offices later today answering questions that we put to him about Management styles and all that corporate stuff. Wonder what my first question should be ?.

How are you going to deal with Moshri and BK.

2.) 27 Jan 2023 13:25:53
What are your long term plans?

05 Mar 2021 09:47:09
Very strong at the back at the moment. I can’t see a better pairing at centre back than Keane and Godfrey. With Digne and a good right back acquisition in the summer (Aarons maybe) that would be an excellent back 4. Pickford improving lately and Ancelotti identifying the need for him to be calm I can see him becoming a better keeper for us, although I’m sure not everyone would be happy with that 😄.
If the saying that strikers win you games but defences win you titles is true then we can be very optimistic of success under CA with this set up.

1.) 05 Mar 2021 10:40:35
Would agree with that however the same can’t be said about Holgate, he needs to tighten his game up too many mistakes.

2.) 05 Mar 2021 12:47:37
I agree the defence is looking a formidable force and dare I say it, foundations are being laid here for something special.
In all the years posting not just on this site but everywhere I have never typed a sentence about EFC as hopeful as that before . because there is usually a caveat or 2 for cautionary reasons, maybe it's the Carlo factor mixed with Duncan and another hero Mr Moshiri.

3.) 05 Mar 2021 12:49:24
Yea get a new rb and the back 4 looks in great shape! Keane has been largely outstanding, so absolutely not trying to rush him off, but think Branthwaite looks a massive talent. Think it's exciting to think that him and Godfrey could be our centre back partnership in 2 or 3 years time and then for years to come!

4.) 05 Mar 2021 13:35:56
Agree with all the above about the defence but I think the midfield hase been very sloppy at times in giving away too many 2-5 yard passes. Hopefully its just a blip and gets sorted soon.

5.) 05 Mar 2021 20:58:56
Holgate looked great last season but after injuries it takes time to get back to full fitness and form. If anything I think he looks a little bit cocky and needs to realise he still needs to put in the graft he did to break into our starting 11. In the Don I trust! No competition at present because Mina out, but Carlo Magnifico will develop him into a great CB!

6.) 05 Mar 2021 21:09:58
I agree GB, he makes me nervous watching when he’s on the ball. Couple of easy passes going astray too. Good player for us though but not an automatic choice in a back 4 for me maybe next season if we can manage to strengthen RB in the summer.

11 Feb 2021 08:30:34
My position on Tom Davies is this, he’s playing well right now and getting credit which he fully deserves. A month ago he was getting stick from most of us which he also fully deserved. This is all normal and justified. As long as the criticism or praise is fair then long may opinions continue. As well as his good form.

You’re only as good as your next 90 minutes and I hope his next 90 will be as good as his last. Well done Tom. Find a way of putting in regular performances like that at your young age and the sky’s the limit for you.

1.) 11 Feb 2021 09:44:25
I hope this isn't the 'kiss of death' for Tom, nevertheless his recent performances are maybe indicative of him putting his past well behind him.
I always felt he was suffering from 'stage fright' or the like and now it appears his confidence is being boosted by really good matches.
Any way my fingers are crossed for the lad.

2.) 11 Feb 2021 10:56:31
Maybe Carlo has told him to just go out and enjoy playing football, and playing him in his best position. Were other managers we have had used him to fill gaps in midfield without allowing him to develop in one position.
If you think about it for a young player he has had a lot of managers.

3.) 11 Feb 2021 12:01:02
He’s had 2 good games. We all want him to be a star. Let’s be honest though - he has been poor most the season - his passing has not been great.
I suppose he has seen Decore and Alan come in - probs felt the pressure.
I really hope he’s turned a corner and continues - if he has then we can save 30-40 million over the next few years - he could becEFC player for 10 years to come.

Just thought I share my hopes and expectations for the season.

The window is not shut yet, but I'd be surprised if we did any more permanent signings. We can't get every position strengthened but if these signings work out then that's the midfield sorted all three areas of defence energy and creativity. It would appear that we have the tools to control the midfield and then the game too.

We need more goals than last season and I believe with the business we have done we will not only see our front two get more but also a larger contribution from the midfield too which was severely lacking last season.

Ultimately I want us to be competitive. We have strengthened to be exactly that so that's what I'm looking for most. I don't want to come away from matches lamenting a lacklustre display. Accusing some of our players for not trying. Win lose or draw I can handle it if they gave their all.

It all starts for us on Sunday and whilst we might not see all our new signings against Spurs, I would like to see 100% from every player who is worried for their place in the side.

Spurs away is a tough game. So COYB let's start with a fight and build from there.

Toffee ace

{Ed025's Note - great little piece there ace, exactly how i, and i suspect the vast majority of supporters feel, we dont ask for much but do expect passion commitment and pride in the wearing of the shirt and that should be a given, unfortunately this has not always been the case in recent times but i believe carlo and the calibre of signings we have made will change that mate COYB..

1.) 11 Sep 2020 08:48:18
Exactly that, just read some comments from Carlo that these players signed because they WANTED to come here, didn't need convincing or needing think about it. that extra quality and passion should definitely drive us forward and improve the team. All 3 new signings won't be playing every games so I really hope to see better from the likes of Iwobi, Davies, Bernard, Walcott and Sigi and Gomes playing alongside the new boys. Unless we sell them of course ha ha.

2.) 11 Sep 2020 09:59:33
Spot on toffee an ed
Av always said it just some passion and fight and they have us fans happy. Some really good signings but its Gona take more windows for carlo to get the club wer he Wants it we have to be patient.
Coyb.

{Ed025's Note - we dont do patience very well callum, but if we can see passion and hard work even if we lose our supporters can be very forgiving, what carlo and brands have brought in is going a long way to addressing that so im very happy mate..

3.) 11 Sep 2020 15:32:28

Let him go then. We haven’t had the value out of him we should’ve over the last few seasons. Misses too many chances but admittedly is excellent holding up the ball.

I’d like him to stay but I won’t miss him either. He clearly wants to try pastures new. It’s the game, it happens to all clubs and there’s little else we can do about it.

I would hope though that knowing this has been coming for as long as it has, we have identified targets for January or the summer.

{Ed025's Note - we still have Broja to come in Ace..

I find myself saying this all too often. Dyche creates a crisis to validate his only possible success, which is to survive the crisis he creates. Average is over achieving and survival fill his trophy cabinet.

Sack him now! We can’t do much worse than having no one in charge.

Yes we got a win. But it took another Jeckel and Hyde display. First half was truly relegation stuff but second half was better.

The positive is that we’ve stemmed the tide. The realism is that we are only ever reacting during games, never imposing. The football is in the main atrocious. But the players are capable of so much more.

The tactics and game plan are to blame which is why we have to change the manager.

Can’t we just get a coach that is indicative of the rich history and premium culture of our elite club.

Having Dyche at our club is like Red Bull asking Miss Daisy to drive for their team.

I like him too Pierre. Very good manager and a clear upgrade on what we have had since Ancelloti.

Good point Ed25. I doubt he’d come by himself and we would need to be rid of Dyches support team too.

I like Potter too. He’s a progressive manager who plays good football. Possession based play. The Swansea and Brighton teams under him were excellent. And very few survive a stint at Chelsea. We can expect mid to top 7 finishes under him. Currently our best option if we were to change now based on who’s currently out of work therefore being the cheapest scenario.

Toffee ace

{Ed025's Note - i do like potter Ace but there is a caveat that at Brighton he had a great team working around him, the scouts and DOF were second to none and some of their players were bought for buttons and sold on for 10,s of millions, its a proper team effort there and he will need support if he is to reproduce that scenario at EFC mate..
