Not liking these ricci rumours to psg, whether true or not, especially so late in the window. I reckon he'd jump at the chance to go to them, fingers crossed 🤞 we can keep him until end of the season at least!

1.) 24 Aug 2021 17:16:20
Don’t want him to leave. The lad’s got a contract, make him stay and play for a move next summer. If he makes a fuss though - hold them to ransom then reinvest. No one player is bigger than the club.

2.) 24 Aug 2021 17:53:39
I don't want him to leave either. But it is fairly inevitable he will at some point, and financially the best time to sell him will be to a rich side like PSG right after they have lined their pockets with money selling mbappe.

20 Jul 2021 14:41:06
Apparently Richie and hamez looking to leave for Spain, on the rumour Mill anyhow.

1.) 20 Jul 2021 15:04:22
Madrid have their sights set on Mbappe and are trying to raise funds. Can’t see Richy heading there. I think we’ll get another season out of him. James, maybe, but I’m not sure who could afford his wages.

2.) 20 Jul 2021 15:16:13
sell them for the highest price possible and let rafa reinvest. get rid of players who don't want to be there.

3.) 20 Jul 2021 16:02:52
I thought Richie had a poor season last year. If he wants a big move to a big club he needs to perform this season.

4.) 20 Jul 2021 20:42:05
Same as that mate.

25 Jun 2021 07:19:08
Talksport Rafa all done but yet to be confirmed officially!

1.) 25 Jun 2021 14:05:24
Please let's just get behind him and be patient! If nothing else it seems he was desperate for the job so let's back him rather than jumping on him at the first opportunity. We need to remember this is a squad that was beaten home and away by Newcastle, at home by Fulham and sheff utd under Mr Ancelotti.

04 Jun 2021 07:29:41
According to talk sport, rumours are Eddie howe one of the favourites. Decent guy but not for me. I think the club is too big.

1.) 04 Jun 2021 08:27:18
I don't think the club is too big rather than the fact that he has managed a side that has been mediocre at best and then got relegated. I personally would not go for any manager that has been in charge of a team that has been relegated.

2.) 04 Jun 2021 09:23:09
Eddie Howe supposedly left Burnley because he was homesick. Everton is not too many miles from Burnley so no doubts he will have the same problem, still a long way from Bournemouth.

3.) 04 Jun 2021 11:09:56
I think I'd be homesick if I had to move to Burnley, Brian.

Poor player purchases and relegation have cost Eddie Howe his reputation. Shame though because I could see him doing well with Brands and better players.

23 Oct 2020 08:02:42
So Rodriguez is possibly out of the game this weekend. A "coming" together with Van dyke. Do we want van dykes head on a plate? Have we asked the officials to look at the incident? Nope, we accept its a physical game and injuries happen. Pity those across the park don't think the same!,!

1.) 23 Oct 2020 09:28:22
TomTom, I am going to handcuff myself to the gates of Parliament until justice is served, and will only negotiate with Amanda Holden in private! 🤤.

2.) 23 Oct 2020 14:53:54
Our prayers and candlelight vigils have been answered. CA now says James might play on Sunday. Looking forward to those loveable red responses to this one!

3.) 23 Oct 2020 17:42:18
Looks like Blue and Amanda Holden may have worked things out then 😂.

{Ed025's Note - well they have both got the X factor ST..

4.) 23 Oct 2020 17:58:26
Brilliant management. erm excuse us press and LFC haters but he might be injured, we are sorry he is but he is no saint and could easily have hurt our player, get off your high horse LFC!

5.) 23 Oct 2020 18:48:46
Correction he was once a saint!

{Ed025's Note - love it cookie..

Rafa on the shortlist for Manager of the month. Well deserved but I think Moyes will get it!

1.) 02 Sep 2021 20:51:15
Yeah saw that mate, we have a good manager here.

2.) 02 Sep 2021 21:23:46

3.) 03 Sep 2021 08:21:20
Nuno done well too, between him and Moyes I think. But the fact rafa is there might hush the nay sayers for a while!

4.) 03 Sep 2021 09:23:11
Already looking forward to the first home game under the floodlights. Positive that we can keep the run going against Burnley.

27 Aug 2021 10:29:35
Ronaldo left juventus, said his goodbyes. I think This is the catalyst that starts the merry go round. going to be messy 🙈.

11 Aug 2021 13:43:01
Seems while teams strengthen with decent signings on paper, it appears that we're still shopping in B and M. Although it's not entirely Rafa's fault, but if we fail he's sure going to be the target for the state of the squad. All we can do is pray and hope 🙏 🤞.

1.) 11 Aug 2021 14:37:06
Saying its not entirely Rafas fault suggests that it is in some way or to some degree? Unless he has been acting as a consultant on previous transfers he has zero responsibility for the mess we are in - any suggestion to the contrary only contributes to the potential for him to be on the wrong end of an entirely misplaced backlash.

2.) 11 Aug 2021 15:00:22
The transfers made since he's joined is my point regarding him! Nobody is shouting it from the roof tops, hopefully they'll prove many of us wrong!

3.) 11 Aug 2021 15:01:23
And I do agree about the backlash, I for one don't mind his appointment but lots aren't happy!

4.) 11 Aug 2021 15:37:13
Yea fair point mate. Unfortunately there will be lots quick to get on his case if things start badly. Hopefully the majority will get behind him and give him the time he needs to sort the mess out. If he gets them playing for the shirt with a bit of passion that'd be a big tick in the box for me after the last 5 years!

5.) 11 Aug 2021 16:44:11
Given the current squad, the things that I am hoping that Benitez will bring are organisation and a decent level of fitness.

{Ed025's Note - i just want 100% effort and pride in wearing the shirt glennk, well for the time being..

6.) 11 Aug 2021 16:46:11
Yeh I totally agree. well said 👍.

7.) 11 Aug 2021 17:00:13
You hit the nail on the head there Ed mate as long as manager and players give 110% every game I will be happy.

{Ed025's Note - yeah mate..

8.) 11 Aug 2021 17:26:26
Give him a chance lads judge the guy on the games that actually matter, as for his signings there 2 players that have more go in them than most of our squad, ok not world beaters by any means but reckon they will at least attempt to find dcl and not this sideways backwards stuff to pickford.

9.) 11 Aug 2021 17:45:24
So Hope Iwobi is on the move out.

10 Aug 2021 10:29:33
Put your tin hats on, batton down the hatches, it's going to be a rough ride. Disappointed we haven't got anyone else in and settled before the kickoff, I'm praying there's something in the pipeline. 🤞.

{Ed025's Note - back to the "dogs of war" days tomtom..

1.) 10 Aug 2021 12:24:30
I would settle for that if it brings consistency.

2.) 10 Aug 2021 13:24:24
Yeh Ed, even that's got to be better than the so called efforts from end of last season.

{Ed025's Note - i know we would all like to see free flowing football tomtom, but needs must at the moment mate and its going to be a bit of a slog i expect..

3.) 10 Aug 2021 15:47:48
I’d take dogs of war any day of the week if it got us the FA cup like it did in 95.

4.) 10 Aug 2021 16:41:27
I’d definitely take ‘Dogs or War’ a bit of passion and desire back, not too much to ask for is it!

5.) 10 Aug 2021 16:33:55
Ed025 I to would willingly accept that however I don't think the players we have at are disposal have the b******s to actually dig deep and put in a fighting display, discounting Godfrey, DCL, Coleman and Allan I'm not confident the rest have any real fight or commitment to the cause!

{Ed025's Note - if they dont wakka rafa will show them short shrift mate, you can be sure of that..

6.) 10 Aug 2021 18:02:06
Last trophy 1995. When the last real dogs of war were on the pitch for us.

7.) 10 Aug 2021 19:12:18
All the Grief Rikky gets wakka and yet the lad puts in a shift every game. Some of you need to take blinkers off.

8.) 10 Aug 2021 20:13:50
Hopeful for "Dogs of War" although be lucky to get "Spaniels of Meh" with some of our lot.

05 Aug 2021 09:03:28
Why can't we do what villa just did, identify a player and bam, the first anyone heard about it is when he's signed the contract? Danny ings a great signing for them! Who saw that coming?

1.) 05 Aug 2021 10:03:22
We did his name was gray and Townsend.

2.) 05 Aug 2021 11:22:43
I’m not convinced villa have done great business - similar to what we’ve done in previous years and look where that’s got us.

They’ve paid £25m for ings which is a lot of money for a player in last year of contract with a history of injuries.

They’ve paid £25m for Bailey who looks like a decent signing but he has no premier league experience. Could be a signing like Klaasen.

They’ve paid £30m for buendia who admittedly was amazing last season but that was in the championship. 1 goal in 36 games when in premier league. Will he perform to same levels this season?

Ashley Young on a free - he’s 35! We’ve got fans moaning about us getting Townsend on a free yet he’s 5yrs younger.

They’ve also sold their best players and talisman in Grealish.

Whilst we haven’t set the world alight with our 3 transfers I’m happy with them and think they’ll all add something to the team and at £1.8m or whatever they cost it’s some great business from the club.

{Ed002's Note - Another bitter and embarrassing post. You need to stop it.}

3.) 05 Aug 2021 11:46:45
Bringing in 3 decent players, losing 1 and 20 million profit, not bad business though.

4.) 05 Aug 2021 11:52:30
Ed 02, love your even handed intelligent insight, however this is a fans site, we are entitled to be biased, bitter and twisted we wouldn't be true fans if we were not🤔😂.

{Ed002's Note - You forgot embarrassing as well.}

5.) 05 Aug 2021 11:53:27
I think Rafa is doing ok as well, let’s wait and see who else he brings in.

6.) 05 Aug 2021 12:11:32
Without wanting to sound bitter and embarrassing isn’t it best to judge transfers at the end of a season?

Surely that’s when it can be said if a transfer has been good business?

7.) 05 Aug 2021 11:59:44
Sorry Ed002 not sure it’s a bitter post.

Just pointing out that fans raving about the villa signings like we were with similar signings in previous years but they don’t all work out.

King, bolasie, kean, Delph, Bernard, klaasen, Walcott, Tosun all players we thought were decent signings when we made them but it never worked out.

Until a player has done a season for their new team it’s really hard to say that it’s a great bit of business.

My point is how do we know that villa have done better business than ourselves until we’ve seen how both teams perform? Nothing bitter in that, just a bit of realism.

{Ed002's Note - So why the attack on the players?}

8.) 05 Aug 2021 12:26:58
Not sure it was an attack on the players.

They all could turn out to be amazing signings for villa, but was just pointing out potential issues.

I’d have liked Ings at Everton but think £25m when in last year of contract and his history of injuries is a lot to pay for him.

Bailey could take the league by storm, but also may not, numerous players don’t make the switch to the premier league that easy or perform as well in previous leagues. Everton have had a fair few of these players, Ramirez and klaasen to name just 2.

Buendia again looks a decent player but didn’t do amazing when in premier league before - that may now change with more game time under his belt.

Ashley young on a free I was just pointing out all the stick Townsend on a free to us received because of his age.

9.) 05 Aug 2021 12:55:36
Erm 🤔 I wasn't raving I said I like what they did, but that's on paper, they might fall flat but at this point I think they did good business! My opinion!

10.) 05 Aug 2021 13:05:55
Tom Tom spot on. Look great on paper. We’ve recruited numerous players that we all thought would be great but didn’t work out.
Everyone entitled to their opinions and that’s what’s great about this site, I’m just not convinced great business but that’s probably because I’ve seen us recruit similarish players that didn’t work out. Villa may be totally different and have got it spot on.
However think we have to wait till they’ve played a fair few games in the league to judge how good any player is.

That’s how it should be for all players, we’ve some of our own fans salting our recruitment before we’ve seen them play in the league.

11.) 05 Aug 2021 13:59:32
I don't think the praise some of us were giving Villa was necessarily about who they have signed, more about how efficiently it seems the business was done.

We are all well aware that more players seem to fail than succeed in this league, but I think Villa have at least made decisions, and sorted things out.

12.) 05 Aug 2021 14:36:07
Isn’t that what we used to do Efcone?
We made decisions and bought early in the window and seemed to act efficiently but now we’re in a heck of a mess because of our previous recruitment.

I know it’s frustrating seeing teams around us signing these players but from previous experience of our recruitment I think it’s better to not rush in and make quick decisions and just ensure we make the right decisions on transfers and not worry if it takes an age to get it done.

Also we are so focussed on our own team we have not much knowledge of what goes on at other teams - they may also take a while to appoint a player - no idea how long they’ve been tracking their transfers,

13.) 05 Aug 2021 15:08:13
I think our problem in the past was being focused on a player like Gylfi and just throwing money until they agreed and then throwing silly wages out
Now we are staring down the barrel of the FFP gun, we rolled the dice to get into Europe then pushed in more money to roll the dice again, and now paying the price

Villa could be one hell of a side this season if it all clicks, so could Leicester.

14.) 05 Aug 2021 19:50:19
I think what most are overlooking is its Villas defence that needs an addition or two.

15.) 05 Aug 2021 15:11:34
The big issue is letting grealish go BUT if they replace him with cantwell that's a GREAT signing. they can build a team around that lad and tbh he's still a long way from reaching his peak. Cantwell will become a top top player in the mould of grealish. not many of that type around. timed it perfect.

16.) 05 Aug 2021 15:58:07
Fair comment but I did mean top players lol we seem to advertise to the world for a month alerting everyone else!

17.) 06 Aug 2021 09:05:05
Ings: A risk due to his injury record but a great player who will score goals when fit. Plus, they have Ollie Watkins so the risk is limited.
Bailey: Hell of a signing. Top signing.
Buendia:Not a bad player, but definitely not worth 30m. An okay-ish buy for me but financially unsavy.

Young:Don't see the point myself but has plenty of experience.
Cantwell:Would be an excellent purchase. would need time though imo.
Good business but there are a couple of downsides. Bailey is a fantastic signing, Cantwell would also be.

Van der beek reminds me of Dave Klassen. Great in his own league but out of his depth in the Premier!

It's looking grim, all the rumours, and I know they're just rumours, but I can't believe we haven't got someone today, still time, but not looking great fingers crossed 🤞.

I don't like the idea of throwing all that money at someone unproven in the Premier. He doesn't want to come anyhow, so hopefully we have other targets instead!

We were linked to edourd, quite fancied us to give him a go, unproven over here but maybe a hidden gem, 15 million looks like a good buy, but the fact nobody else are battling for him maybe a red flag! We'll wait and see!

He's quite happy to steal a wage, if pay was based on attitude he'd owe us a fortune!

{Ed025's Note - i honestly dont want him at our club tomtom, he obviously has ability but the weight of that chip on his shoulder makes him a total liability mate..
