Hi all, I see we have been linked with Shezsney of Arsenal, bettered than Howard but I don't think he is the answer to our goalkeeping problem. Anybody any idea on who we could get realistically. Not many top GKs available. Forester of Southampton or Butland of Stoke would be my choice but don't think either one would be available without a mega offer so I don't think they are in the running.

1.) 08 Feb 2016 12:21:27
begovic if he wants regular games.

2.) 08 Feb 2016 12:21:50
robles can be are no1 he deserves the chance 8 clean sheets in 10 appearances he is very capable, begervic wants away from Chelsea but he wants first team football we just need to find a no2 i. m. o.

3.) 08 Feb 2016 12:26:10
Steve mandanda.

4.) 08 Feb 2016 12:30:03
Agree about Robles. Who knows, we may have a fantastic keeper already, but just needs a good run of games.1 or 2 mistakes happens with all keepers,so Robles No.1 for me.

5.) 08 Feb 2016 13:08:38
I agree muff. If Robles was given until the end of the season we'd have a better idea if he is capable to be our number one for the foreseeable future. Then all we'd need is a number 2.

This would save money for other areas to be strengthened. On the other hand if Joel has a disaster for the rest of the season. Then we'd know to get a number 1.

Personally can't see Joel playing that bad. Not 100% convinced he's our number one for next 10 years. Better than Howard at the moment for sure and is playing well.

Someone pointed out here before that he kept De Gea on bench when they were both playing for Spain U21's.

Problem is we've seen a lot more of De Gea since. Joel definitely deserves a proper crack at being number one. He has a good chance of cementing his place for a long time imho.

6.) 08 Feb 2016 14:00:00
Would we not use one of our young keepers as no.2? A lot of good keepers started playing first team at young age.

{Ed025's Note - its a bit of gamble to do that geoff, any mistakes would be amplified and it could ruin a young keeper to be thrown to the lions , if he were to go on loan and impress then thats another matter mate..but thats just my opinion..

7.) 08 Feb 2016 14:21:59
That's exactly what happened with Big Nev Ed. didn't do him any harm lol.

{Ed025's Note - i think we can all agree big nev was a one off ace...they come around once every preston guild mate..

8.) 08 Feb 2016 14:55:20
greatest player I've ever seen in a royal blue shirt pure world class big nev won us the league in 85 that's how good he waswas player of the year to, if he were English he would of been spoken of more highly and defo was the worlds best at the time, if he was fit in 86 we would of done the double and not them, even back then we didn't have the luck, he broke his leg in a international for wales that cost us the league and fa cup am not blaming bobby mimms but just for been in goal would of been a massive diffrance big nev been fit.

9.) 08 Feb 2016 14:57:21
Good point ed but butland, de gea, casillas all started young. One of the Italian clubs, possibly juve have/ had 16 year old in goal recently.

10.) 08 Feb 2016 16:21:14
I never said we'd buy a number 2 just said we'd need one. Weather its within the club or not.

I have to agree with Ed025 though don't like seeing young keepers being thrown in.

Big Nev was certainly an exception and totally agree with above comment if he was English he would of been talked about and appreciated more by the media and so on.

You have to have a very good defence to allow a young keeper play and a very good team also. Like Juve have. It has to limit the chances of the keeper messing up.

This day and age I think De Gea and Casillas are exceptions also. De Gea looks to have a big career ahead of him. For his sake Utd should be doing better. He deserves to be winning medals he's that good.

Butland don't know what to say only would like to see him in a Everton shirt. Far more so than Begovic. Not good enough for me. Decent keeper but better options available imho.

11.) 08 Feb 2016 16:43:47
Begovic is absolute quality in my opinion if we could get him we have solved our problem. Schiezny tho?! Would be a waste of money because he's no better than Joel I'd rather let him have a run in the team.

{Ed025's Note - always prone to a mistake kingy...thats why arsenal got rid of him..

12.) 08 Feb 2016 17:42:47
Foster would be my choice as I've said in previous posts. But I can't see Southampton letting him go unless it was a mega bucks offer.

13.) 08 Feb 2016 17:45:49
So you wouldn't be happy if we chucked degear or Anthony Lopez from Lyon or coutior from chelsea parden the spelling between the sticks its not really about how old you are its about how good you are

14.) 08 Feb 2016 17:51:42
Totally agree eds. if he's not good enough for arsenal why should he be good enough for us. No thanks.

15.) 08 Feb 2016 21:10:13
Yann Sommer from Monchengladbach if we could afford him.

16.) 09 Feb 2016 02:25:50
Nev wore Yellow I seem to remember!

Hi all, it's been a while, really impressed with Koeman no slackers with escape his wrath. I always believed that Koeman give time would get us back on track. Remember when Pottechinno first went to Spurs they struggled at first and stuck by there manager and they look like they could become regular champions League qualifiers and remember Koeman performed better at Southapton than Pottechinno. We will be really strong next season in saying that this season could still be profitable don't expect top 4 but top 6 is achievable. Next few games are against teams in relegation trouble which won't be easy as we see from the results earlier. But if we could take this good run we are on further for the month of Feb we could be right in among the top dogs and the sacred top 6 will become a flexible top 7 God forbid leave 1 of the other big boys out of the mix like they are still doing now, mostly talking about Sky sports and other sports media. Cheers.

Hi all, Here Everton seem to be interested in Gabbidini from Napoli in January according to some of the media. Don't understand why we are interested in a striker who is far from prolific. His scoring record is awful, Napoli have lost patience with him and want rid. Has to be the only player l have watched on YouTube and was even less impressed after it. Napoli are looking for 20m+ and seemingly we were willing to pay that in the summer. Please Everton look elsewhere we dodged a bullet in the summer. Last thing is how does Napoli put a 20m+ price tag on an non scoring striker, saying that we got 47m for an accident prone defender.

1.) 25 Oct 2016 11:15:19
To be honest, he isn't exactly a starter at napoli. He was used as back up to higuian then millik so it may be a bit harsh up judge him. Haven't ever actually seen him in a match so would be interesting if anyone could shed some information on him such as his playing style, strengths and weaknesses and so on.

Even then, if the club decide he is the player they want, I'll back him.

2.) 25 Oct 2016 12:16:47
I agree about Gabbiadini, looks a very average player. One player from Serie A that I do think would be a terrific buy would be Belotti from Torino. He's really impressed me this season. Whilst we're talking Italian football, I seem to remember us being linked with Nyang from Milan a while ago. At the time I was, at best, underwhelmed, but having seen him this season, he looks a fabulous prospect. Onwards and upwards, guys!

3.) 25 Oct 2016 20:18:47
Mitrovic anyone?

{Ed041's Note - I really rate the guy, no one else seems to though. Maybe that says more about my football knowledge though lol.

4.) 25 Oct 2016 23:14:16
I seem to remember not too many were excited with Gana when we signed him. Average player at best people were saying. Now most couldn't imagine us without him. Our new talent spotters seem to have a nack of spotting these talents in other teams. Stek imho is another. Certainly better than sitting on the bench in a championship side.

26 Aug 2016 05:37:42
I think people just want signings for the sake of it nothing to do with how good a player is. Gabbidini 30m for 5 goals in 23 games does that sound like he is worth 30m because that don't sound to hot for me. Watching a bit of Dutch football yesterday and the lad of Twente Ziyech what a playmaker everything goes through him and boy can that lad see a pass, and commentators say he is expected to leave in this window, just what we need someone who can open up a defence with one pass. COYB.

1.) 26 Aug 2016 07:04:38
That would have been the equivalent of paying 60 mill for Pelle instead of him going to China. Crazy talk.

2.) 26 Aug 2016 09:25:39
The old trait of us being late to the Party is still there despite the shake up (welcome it is) by the astute Mr Moshri. That trait I believe is because Mr Kenwright is still there handling negotiations and being the cautious man he is, other Clubs do tend to play on that and where we are hesitant they leap in.

3.) 26 Aug 2016 10:26:22
Only a matter of time before someone blamed Kenwright, well done billscrocodiletears, despite everything Ed002 has said about transfers and the fact that players want European football, which we can't offer, you still want to blame him.
Please give it a rest it's getting boring, surely you can see that the Everton mentality is changing, pity some fans can't see it!

4.) 26 Aug 2016 11:39:42
Just an opinion sidutton. Just happen to think he can be to cautious, do also happen to think that he has managed our finances throughout the years in a very sensible way. Advice! don't be so sensitive and confrontational won't do your blood pressure any good.

5.) 26 Aug 2016 20:10:01
What a load of old cobblers give it a rest, we have been waiting for years for our new investor and some people are still moaning as Sid says this is now getting very boring, GuernseyBlue.

25 Aug 2016 14:41:51
Delighted to hear Koeman declare he has no interest in Joe Calamatious Hart. Where will go now Joe?

dero

1.) 25 Aug 2016 15:16:10
I quite like Hart, also he will most likely not be going to a CL side as by playing him last night means he's now cup tied.
So who exactly will pay what they want for him who aren't in Europes elite I don't know. I think he is stuck or Liverpool bound at best.

2.) 25 Aug 2016 17:10:20
Liverpool have already bought a keeper and UEFA confirmed last night that Hart will not be cup tied and would be free to play for any other side in the champions league.

3.) 25 Aug 2016 17:37:38
Problem City have is the fee, either a loan or buy, and his wages are £130,000 pw. So not many teams can afford him really!

4.) 25 Aug 2016 17:40:34
who really cares, he is not wanted by us so why bother about him.

5.) 25 Aug 2016 22:36:05
I'm not fussed on him but if we signed him it wouldn't be the worst thing.

He needs to calm down before and during a match plus there are some performance issues but he isn't the worst keeper in the world.

Stek is good and he has decent presence in that defensive unit but I have no idea if he is consistent long term.

Let's see what happens though as I think he looked pretty genuine when he said we were not interested in him.

Hi all, would like to see us sign 3 more players Sissoko 30m with Galloway going to them on loan. Kone from Sunderland in a straight swap for McCarthy and Sliman for 22m. TBH personally don't want Hart he has been poor for the past 15 months and shows no signs of turning that around. Stekelenburg deserves a run in the team could turn out to be like Van Der Saar was for United both left from Fulham as Stek was only on loan to Southampton. With all these new signings I think we will need to off load a few players, Kone, Gibson, Cleverly, McAidey and Niasse. If we get Sissoko I would listen to offers for Lennon about 4m.

dero

1.) 17 Aug 2016 06:36:19
No point listening to offers for lennon if we sign sissoko. Newcastle played him out of position, he is a centre midfielder by trade. a box to box type.

Not a very good one judging by his record last season 23 appearances 5 goals and even on YouTube were everyone looks great he does'nt. Have faith in Koeman signing for big money seems like a big gamble, if we do get him he proves me wrong. Baffled to know why so expensive with such a poor record.

Hope and don't think Hart will be coming to Everton. I am sure where ever Hart go's I am pretty sure Hart wants assurance he is first choice, Koeman does not operate that way, With Koeman you earn your place, It would be very wrong if Stekelenburg has another good game today then lose his place to hopeless Hart. When we got rid of Howard was because of his constant mistakes it was relief but if we go for Hart those constant mistakes are back. COYB.

Good to see Hart going to Sevilla as he is the most overrated keeper in world football. Would take Stekelenburg over Hart every day of the week and twice on Sunday. In saying that I still believe we need a top quality keeper, just glad it ain't Hart. How he is still England's number 1 is mystifying.

We need more than 2 or 3 and more like 6 or 7. Lot of players need to be moved on Robles if we are still after a new number 1, Oviedo, McAidey, Gibson, Cleverly, Kone, Rodriquez and McIeny. The jury still out on Niasse so maybe a loan deal somewhere would be best to regain his confidence. Stones also could be on the move. That's 10 players plus the 4 released is a total of 14 from last years squad. Granted we have a lot of youth ready to step in to the squad Kenny, Connolly, Pennington, Holgate, Garbutt, Ledson, Grant, Davies, Dowell and Henen. Not all these will be used suspect 2 or 3 will go out on loan. We need a winger, GK, centre back to replace Stones, Strong creative midfielder and 2 Strikers.

Feel Mata won't be a Koeman type of player, no pace and a luxury type. Koeman goes for high energy and lots of pace. I for one think someone will beat us to his signature and I am fine with that. Not saying he is a poor player, he is quite a good player just won't suit Koemans style of play. Mane and Bolasie for me are two better players, who's style would be what Koeman will look for.

Sissoko has played most of his time at Newcatle playing on the right wing. Would be an upgrade on Geri as far as working hard, defensively, with a good physical presence and pretty good going forward 30m yes I know over priced but all players are in this window especially. I know they want 35m but with Galloway going there on loan for the season might sweeten the deal for them to take 30m.

Yes I know what you mean JCW, Koulibaly and Maartens would fit the bill perfectly. Take it Stones won't be moving till we have a replacement, just hope we drop our interest in Williams now we've been rejected and push for these two beasts.

Ed how about phoney or one trick pony or just down right Boloni. Anyways Kone will hopefully sail of to China or Far East as long as he is know where near Goodison Park. We are going to need two or three strikes if Lukaku and Kone leave. The only other kind of strikers are we have are Tarashaj or more experimenting with Geri.

Mata to slow for Koemans liking, Mane much better option very fast and knows where the goal is.
