Is there any interest in Dumfries Ed? . Few reports over the last week.

{Ed002's Note - I thought there would be when Carlo was coach.}

1.) 13 Jun 2021 21:12:00
Shame, think he could do a job for us. Yeah he missed a few chances but his pace and movement look impressive. Got to be there to create those chances.

2.) 13 Jun 2021 21:17:24
Big unit who likes getting forward. Me likey 👍.

3.) 13 Jun 2021 21:20:37
Me too Woburn, perhaps when we get our new manager brands may look at him. Bet his price will be going up with every game though!

4.) 13 Jun 2021 23:22:02
I actually thought he was one of Brands targets from reports but then you can’t always believe the content of these reports.

5.) 15 Jun 2021 00:05:14
I thought he would be a Brands target as he joined PSV after he left but would imagine Brands was there when they first tracked him.

15 Jan 2021 09:23:09
Joshua Zirkzee heavily linked this morning, weren't we looking at him before he went to Bayern eds? . Does anyone know if he's any good is another question. Would have thought we'd have looked at a more senior player to be backup to DCL given we have Simms as well.

{Ed002's Note - Cologne are struggling again this season but do offer a straight loan option for the player. Two recent disciplinary issues may make clubs think twice about the player. Zirkee is said to favour a return to Feyenoord but they are looking for cover for Bryan Linssen which would limit his game time. I am not aware of any approach from Everton but Bayern Munich would certainly listen to offers.}

1.) 15 Jan 2021 11:30:58
I'm wondering whether DCL has a more worrying injury than first thought. Its mentioned as a loan deal which keeps costs down.

Don't really think we need to sign someone and spend big money. I'd rather us wait till summer and get the players we really want and need.

2.) 15 Jan 2021 11:35:47
Normally take rumours with a pitch of salt but this one seems to have legs in it.

3.) 15 Jan 2021 11:58:46
What are the 2 disciplinary issues Ed? Would they be enough to put potential suitors off? Think we’ve got a decent bunch of players that seem to be playing together wouldn’t want to risk that with a player with disciplinary issues.

{Ed002's Note - One relates to a sending off, the other has seen him moved back to the reserves. Bayern are also unhappy with his attitude hence the reason for making him available.}

4.) 15 Jan 2021 12:08:54
think we do need a back up forward to be honest and if it has got legs this then i would expect cenk tosun maybe going out on loan somewhere.

{Ed002's Note - Bayern Munich are not going to loan a player who will simply be providing cover.}

5.) 15 Jan 2021 13:30:03
I think it’s got to be more than cover. DCL can’t play every minute of every game.
I’d be pretty annoyed if I was Ellis Simms and they bring in a 19yr old though - or people at club don’t rate him as I am suprised he hadn’t had a look in

If he has behaviour issues I hope we have learnt lesson from Van De Mede and Drenthe and don’t bring him in unless he is prepared to do a shift

Lakaku, Kean and Sidibe recent examples of players coming in who really don’t want to be here - sadly Richarlison looking that way too at the minute (wonder if he is looking at Kean and thinking I want a price of that)

{Ed025's Note - his behaviour issues may well be exaggerated sobs, he went in on a keeper in a reserve game and got a 3 match ban, if these problems are the result of over committment then it does not worry me at all mate..

6.) 15 Jan 2021 14:31:54
Cool - well if he’s better than Simms let’s get him 👍.

7.) 15 Jan 2021 17:24:23
A third party has become involved who has approached Parma, West Ham and Everton with regards the player. It is him talking with the press.

8.) 16 Jan 2021 15:03:37
Ferguson would never have left Rangers, if we took that mind set, if he can put it in the onion bag, will do for me.

9.) 16 Jan 2021 19:25:25
Feegusin averaged 1 goal in 4 for everton.
In his second stint he averaged 1 in 5.5 (that’s less than 8 a season) and that includes cup games
Great guy and offered more than just goals but he was as prolific has Toson is now.

10.) 16 Jan 2021 23:36:33
As good as a guard dog living next to you.

24 Apr 2020 09:51:34
Ed's, I see us linked with a lot of names in the papers. But realistically, can we really expect much business this summer given the current financial crisis and our existing FFP issues? .

{Ed002's Note - Everything is a little in the air whilst Carlo assesses what he needs, but thyere is continued influence over Mr Moshiri from advisors. I think the club will need to look for a CB and a S as the priority. Much will depend on who leaves and of course the likes of Yannick Bolasie will return from loan and line up with the collection of LW players.}

1.) 24 Apr 2020 12:28:45
How do theses influences sit with Carlo?

{Ed002's Note - As long as he has a say it may not be a major problem. Much of his career has been in Italy where coaches tend not to be overly involved in transfers and many clubs use advisors who are well briefed. Klopp was persuaded to move for Salah over his three preferred options and that worked out well. Manchester United have someone trustworthy on the staff who drives decisions. The difference at Everton is the advice is going to the owner from people who are not experts.}

2.) 24 Apr 2020 13:16:23
would these include brands, who i assumed was more than qualified to assess possible new signings?

{Ed002's Note - Brands expertise is not being exploited at Everton.}

3.) 24 Apr 2020 19:52:08
Dixie; Brands field of so-called 'expertise' is narrow, more toward bringing through potential. His model is more long term. Problem being our (Everton) renowned impatience.

4.) 24 Apr 2020 21:34:43
It certainly looks like they are not experts ed . thanks for the info.

{Ed002's Note - Bill C is correct - Brands’ expertise is based on structure and time.}

5.) 25 Apr 2020 14:51:22
Clearly these advisors can’t see past the left wing with all that we sign and are interested in!

15 Mar 2020 11:21:22
With regards to our FFP issues, do the eds know if there have been discussions within the EPL as to the impact the postponement of the season will have on this? . Will clubs be given special dispensation given it will undoubtedly affect the profit/ losses of clubs? .

{Ed002's Note - A very good question. It has not been discussed yet but there is a meeting on Tuesday at UEFA where it is one of the items on the agenda and my gut feeling is they will cut some slack - in which case the Premier League will likely follow suit. I don't know what format it will take. The Premier League rules are way less stringent in any case.}

1.) 15 Mar 2020 12:28:35
Ed with all the uncertainty the postponement has caused, it seems Manchester citys problems have slipped off the back pages, are they to be discussed at the meeting, or will it be case of it being low priority at the moment, the two year ban from Europe I suspect has been given simply so they can halve it on appeal.

{Ed002's Note - No, the Manchester City appeal is not to UEFA and won't be heard before next season starts.}

29 Jan 2020 17:04:35
Barcelona circling Richarlison. it's squeaky bum time.

1.) 29 Jan 2020 17:09:24
Sky Sports saying we have rejected an £85m bid from them.

2.) 29 Jan 2020 17:13:28
We've rejected a 85 million pound or 100m euro bid from Barac for richarlison hoping we stand firm.

3.) 29 Jan 2020 17:16:16
put it this way, if Richarlison was playing across the Park the bid would be well over £100 Million, so unless they come back with a much bigger bid, I would tell them to do one.

4.) 29 Jan 2020 17:25:11
Rejected 85 mill and seen pics of him at a kids event today and looks happy enough end of story for me.

5.) 29 Jan 2020 17:31:53
Depends if a much bigger bid comes in, we are close to our ffp, would Everton Soares be a replacement with cash Left over to spend, if a ridiculous offer came in.

6.) 29 Jan 2020 17:47:28
Whether he's happy here or not, a player will almost always want to move to Barca, it's definitely squeaky bum time. If there offer hits £100m which isn't much of an improved offer then it may sadly happen. Hopefully we can try to get someone from them in return, another loan to buy.

7.) 29 Jan 2020 17:50:02
1st bid. If they want him they'll be back.

8.) 29 Jan 2020 17:50:52
Or how about we sell for 50 Million with a buy back clause for the same, bring in Soares for £30 Million, then when Niasse, Martina, Tosun and a few others are off the wage bill, buy him back. One way of getting round our ffp.

9.) 29 Jan 2020 18:06:18
Hahahaha if only Bignev!

10.) 29 Jan 2020 18:08:40
That won’t happen bignev. Think his agent would allow that in a contract? Go to biggest club in world only to come back a year later for mid table in prem.

He deserves to play in CL and we are nowhere near it. No closer than when Martinez was here 4 managers ago.

I guess we will get about 100 million for him.

We are a selling club (stones, lakaku, Rooney, arteta, fellani prove that)

We need somehow to get into elusive CL positions - even then if Barcelona come knocking we will have no say.

If we could get samefdo or wague on loan as part of deal that would be good business.

11.) 29 Jan 2020 20:46:03
Not being funny but haven't commented in this for ages due to forgot password but read a lot. That comment above sobs newcastle, your saying he deserves a cl club, he's 22 he deserves everton football club. He's just signed a 5 year deal he's going no where and if he did I would be devastated as if we are going to get anywhere near champions league then he needs to stay.

All of the above apart from lukaku was basically before moshiri and we was skint. And lukaku was banging 20+ a season and he wanted to go. We knew that anyway when has richy inclined he's not happy or wants to move on to early. He's 22 and wouldn't have signed a new deal if he was desperate to make the next step.

12.) 29 Jan 2020 21:25:34
Is the next step not Barcelona - do you expect him to have 5yrs in mid table. Sorry but your not being realistic.
I’d love him to stay but put yourself in his shoes - could be a once in a life time chance.
If we were 4th or 5th we still would struggle but we are out of both cups - not qualifying for Europe - can’t sign players - we are not too attractive.
I know it’s negative but it is realistic.

You can add Gueye on that list who also left for CL.

13.) 29 Jan 2020 22:04:30
Sobs - I think based on our current situation TRANMERE would be the next step!
Barcelona is a triple jump away 😂.

14.) 29 Jan 2020 22:05:01
The next step is Barcelona or someone like that but he’s not ready and he wouldn’t of signed a new deal if he wanted to get off. He knows the clubs ambitious and we now have Ancelotti who is a better coach than Barca’s? I just don’t think he will go anywhere for atleast 18months and we would be stupid not to keep him. If he scores 20 goals next season fair enough he’s proven he’s ready and we will get even bigger money for him. The club have said rumours aren't true anyway. When Barcelona come calling and the player wants to move there’s not much you can do look at Liverpool. But Suarez it was now or never, Richarlison has age on his side and he’s a blue! Fingers cross COYB.

15.) 29 Jan 2020 22:08:47
Also gueye how old was he when he left, smells like now or never to me also.

16.) 30 Jan 2020 08:38:10
Stones, Lukaku, Arteta and Rooney WANTED to go.

17.) 30 Jan 2020 20:14:49
I don’t remember stones, arteta, lescott, fellaniI, Rooney - further back graviton, barmby, Ross Jeffers, Xavier etc. Wanting to leave until a big club came asking.

I think Guaye was professional and I imagine we kept him for one more season with agreement he could leave at the end. Lakaku was a disgrace as was Ross
I struggle to think of anyone we have kept - Coleman to Man Utd possibly.
Even speed + Ferguson went to bloody newcastle.

18.) 30 Jan 2020 20:42:35
Who says Richarlison doesn't want to leave? Maybe he wasn't thinking about it but when a team like Barcelona comes in for him it's got to make him think.

Signing a new contract doesn't mean he's staying either, just means he has the decency to allow our club to get a decent transfer value for him.

19.) 30 Jan 2020 21:21:18
Look at countinho, the grass isn’t always greener! What I’m saying is he’s only young and does anyone think he would walk into there team? Or do you think he would be better off waiting until he’s a proven player and then leave? Maybe I’m just to hopeful or maybe that’s what I’d do I don’t know. Every player you lot are mentioning was before we had money, before we had any ambition. Half the players wouldn’t of signed pre moshiri. Rooney was prob are best sale we could have easily of gone down without selling him I’m sure that’s how we started to sign the likes of Cahill and arteta for 1.25m and 2m? Players who served us well and deserved there next step. Lukaku was never going to stay he was too good for us at the time but imagine he had stayed, we wouldn’t of signed klassan Sandro or maybe Sigurdsson. I’ll shut up now I could go on forever.

15 Apr 2022 12:02:50
Dyche getting the boot, didn't see that coming! . Fingers crossed they don't get the new manager bounce.

1.) 15 Apr 2022 13:46:12
Bold move from Burnley - could be a stroke of genius and they’ll see a sudden improvement and we’re in trouble. Conversely could put them further into trouble.
Definitely makes the last 8 games more tense for us.
Just hope we concentrate on our results and performances rather than relying on teams below us to do worse.

2.) 15 Apr 2022 14:01:51
Out of curiosity, would anyone take Dyche over Lampard come the end of the season. (Not that I’m currently in the Lampard out camp, I’ve just heard we have the option to terminate his contact at the end of the season) . Pros for Lampard are he’s trying to instil a progressive style, pros for Dyche would be he would instil a steel within the team and has a good track record of operating on a budget.

3.) 15 Apr 2022 15:04:52
Not for me thanks.

4.) 15 Apr 2022 15:18:00
Not for me either mate.

5.) 15 Apr 2022 16:17:41
Perfect role for big dunc or unsworth to cut their teeth. Maybe not this season but definitely next. They will be relegated after this so for first step on the managerial ladder it would ideal for those 2.

6.) 15 Apr 2022 17:55:12
Maybe there just getting ready for life out of the Prem, and think it’s time to try something new.

7.) 15 Apr 2022 18:51:22
We shouldn't be worrying about Burnley, win our game in hand against Leicester and we should be looking to reel Leeds and Newcastle in.

8.) 16 Apr 2022 05:33:37
I'll tell you after the next 8 games Gibbo. I'm hoping Frank shows enough by then that the question is moot.

9.) 16 Apr 2022 12:44:11
If only Burnley knew how to win games eh Sean, ring any bells.

10.) 16 Apr 2022 15:43:18
Love it glt mate.

26 Jan 2022 09:58:17
I'd have probably graffitied Pereira out, Lampard out but hey Ho.

17 Jan 2022 15:24:13
It's going to be Mr Phenomenal isn't it. ??‍♂️.

{Ed025's Note - that would not surprise in the slightest gibbo..

1.) 17 Jan 2022 16:54:24
It's hard to be serious about a subject that is descending into farse, but it's long since time we did.
So, a man who for three season had his club on the verge relegation, before managing to do it, was then inexplicable givern the goodison job made a pig's ear of it and was then sacked to save the club, is now being considered to ride in as our saviour, in the name of God, what are the smoking in the boardroom.

2.) 17 Jan 2022 16:39:13
No of course not and neither will Potter come, nor Fonseca, nor Lampard. The Club is such a F. Up. That the only ones that will come are half wit and erm, no that's it.

3.) 17 Jan 2022 17:41:50
Any manager would come to us as we are a guaranteed pension plan.

01 Jun 2021 17:57:01
So how does the compensation work Ed? . Do Real have to buy out the remainder of his contract or do we just name our price and negotiate from there? .

{Ed025's Note - i really dont know gibbo, and as rhett butler once said..."frankly my dear i dont give a damn..

1.) 01 Jun 2021 19:22:56
Just wondered if maybe we’d be able to buy out Sigurdsson’s contract with it Ed 😂.

{Ed025's Note - we need a lot more than just him out the door gibbo mate..

01 Jun 2021 15:10:51
Look on the bright side, at least we're getting compensation this time instead of having to pay off a 4th manager 😂.

Yeah, thought it was an odd one. Nice to see that we lost £120k a week last season on a guy sitting in a safe house.

If hate to lose him as well as Richy. I’d keep him for another 6 months minimum, if he gets his form back he could make the England team for the World Cup and likely see his value up again.

There was a very good article by Kieran Maguire who crunched the numbers around the Richarlison deal. Was about 2 million to Watford in that.

Richy is a great player don’t get me wrong but Son is one of the best in the world and is so underrated.

It was always going to be between Man Utd and Brentford. The biggest team and the team that gave him a chance to get back to this level.

Thing is, we’re a team fighting relegation now, not a team fighting for Europe. Don’t exactly have the same pull currently as we “maybe” once had.

Is there actually any truth in the rumour we have to sell before Thursday Ed’s? . Also which teams is their genuine interest from in Richarlison and not just paper talk? .

{Ed002's Note - (a) If Everton want to balance the books - it has not bothered them in the past, hence the significant issue. Spurs are looking to buy Richarlison.}

I’d have Zinchenko, his natural position is midfield. He was absolute class against Scotland (can’t possibly comment on the quality of opponents ?) in the WC playoffs.
