As much as I think it may be a good move for both parties, Lennon and Everton. What worries me is there a pre contract agreement with Spurs and Everton for Miralles to go at the end of the season?

You have to remember who it is BK negotiates with at Spuds and there is only ever going to be one winner out of that one.

On 19 August I mentioned Nastasic to Everton and I was knocked down a bit. I am a bit scared we will end up in a loan deal with McCarthy going to pay for other players. I hope I am wrong about McCarthy.

Got a horrible feeling. McCarthy to Man U in swap with Welbeck. Why are we looking at Diame? Maybe I am paranoid!

smeggs

1.) 26 Aug 2014 08:47:07
I'm not sure that will happen. We will be adding players and not swapping

2.) Doubt it, now Eto'o looks to be over the line

3.) Latest position Diame play AMC. mate.

4.) Seriously doubt it McCarty is going nowhere

5.) McCarthy is our best player going nowhere

6.) Agree with smeggs, I posted this last week. hope to god I am wrong.
jimmy mac was superb on saturday and wasnt playing like that fellani played when he new he was on his way

As the rumors increase I can see a distinct pattern. Hardly anything concrete until players exit the world cup. With our limited budget and to increase the squad:
Caulker even money.
Bolasie even money
Snodgrass 4/1
Lukaku 4/1 but his world cup is dropping the price.
Tello deal done almost
Barry deal done almost
A Barcelona loan signing on top of Tello even money
One of our stars to leave to help funds even money
How far out do you think I am Ed?

smeggs

{Ed025's Note - sounds good to me smeggs, but you sound like a bookie to me mate.. :)

1.) Point taken Ed but I am only acting like one, simply because they tend to get things right!

With Miralles, Rooney, and others leaving, the men coming in. What is the net saving in terms of wages if there is?

smeggs

{Ed002's Note - Not a subject for discussion.}

1.) 07 Aug 2018 11:28:09
I think from previous conversations on here the Ed’s don’t want to talk finances, which I understand.

I do however know from what they have previously said, we are still paying wages from staff that are no longer employed by Everton. We will continue to pay these until the end of their contract I’m assuming.

I managers and staff even going back to Martinez era. As well as players such as Rooney.

We landed ourselves in this position so only have ourselves to blame.

I should think in 2-3 seasons, everything will be cleared up though.

{Ed002's Note - Everton are paying just about all of Koeman's wages.}

2.) 07 Aug 2018 11:39:15
Yeah I saw that in a few rags.

Can’t hate the guy for it though! If he’s promised and contracted to £120,000 a week for 5 years, we release him from his duties, he will still have a lifestyle that he needs to pay for and commitments on certain things.

We shouldn’t have ever doubled/ trebled his wages that he was on at Southampton to get him in.

3.) 07 Aug 2018 12:30:15
I was not aware it was taboo. Only wanted to know if progress has been made.

4.) 07 Aug 2018 13:07:31
Do some Google searching and you can figure it out. Zero point asking questions anymore. Either they know what we do, nothing. Or they shut down and get slightly irritated (unfairly) at some having the audacity to ask a question on a rumour site.

The banter is all that's left.

5.) 07 Aug 2018 15:18:32
Koeman only signed on a 3 year I think so will have a years wages to pay.
Follow the Esk on the site with the bird, that should give you a good insight into finances.

{Ed001's Note - forget that, the only person with any insight into football finances on social media is Swiss Ramble.}

Likelihood of getting Cahill? I know Man U interest but we could do with a player like that.

smeggs

1.) 18 Jul 2018 06:56:29
He has retired I believe. Plus commuting from Australia is a long way!

2.) 18 Jul 2018 07:41:34
very funny.

3.) 18 Jul 2018 08:37:12
Yeah just what we need. yet another oap defender who has had his best days.
Why would we want to make the same mistakes again and again?
Some fans are really asking for trouble.

Living in South Africa and not getting to see all Everton games; can someone fill me in on some questions:
1) Is Williams that bad or just did not fit with the managers.
2) Lookman looked great when I saw him. Going to be a pearl IMO. Why is there talk he would be loaned out again. personally thought it was a massive mistake.
4) Is it not prudent to have a little faith in Bolasie? I know how hard it is to come back after a serious injury but maybe patience is required.
3) With Coleman, Tosun, Wally, Lookman, Bolasie, and the youngsters a year older, and with Siggy coming in fit, don't you think we are more promising than last year?
My view is I think it was not the talent but the attitude.

smeggs

1.) 16 Jul 2018 09:40:38
Williams just isn't good enough smeggs, to be polite it's probably his age he's a championsh player at best now, as for bolasie he was a headless chicken before his injury so he's also got to go, hopefully this window will see better quality players arriving without us having our trolleys pulled down, pay a fair price and that's it.

2.) 16 Jul 2018 09:56:17
Understand about Williams but Bolasie was a breath of fresh air at Palace. Did not see any of him before his injury at Everton but I can't help but think that what we paid for him and his wages we might not have a choice other than to keep him.

3.) 16 Jul 2018 10:02:14
The way I see it:
1. Williams has regressed, and quickly. Doesn’t have the legs and his temprament makes him a bit of a liability. i'd get rid.
2. Brands has stated how big a fan of Lookman is, so I doubt he’ll be shipped out.
3. I've never understood the hype regarding Bolasie. All flair with little end product. We’ll never get anything close to the fee paid so cut our losses.
4. With the right ethos, the talent can thrive. Wether they will is a different question.

4.) 16 Jul 2018 20:13:15
Bolasie can be exciting on his day, unfortunately they are rare like the 29th of February although maybe he’s still not 100% after his injury. Anyway I think we need to push on with a new direction and seems he’s on his way out
Williams I think has lost more of his pace although the fight is still there unfortunately that fight seems to become frustration and he loses his cool.
Lookman must and I mean MUST stay!
And I feel the players here already will be stronger and better this year just with a few additions. More like keyhole surgery than butchery lol.

What a reaction to the post I sent yesterday! My fault for my poor explanation.
Point I was making:
Players I want 7 in all and capable of playing in a top 6 side.
The 6 where the jury is out means there is potential but yet to prove top class for various reasons.
Schneiders: Obviously capable but been lazy and under performing.
Davies: A really good youngster but prone to run around with head cut off at times. Hopefully will find more composure as he gets older.
Bolasie: Was great but how has the serious injury affected his future?
Tosun: Totally isolated up front so unable to prove himself to date.
Keane: Inauspicious start to Everton career. Good where he came from but was it his team mates?
Calvert L: A nice player in many ways (I remember the City game at the beginning of last season) Not sure where his true position is and there is a level of improvement he must make to get to the top.
All in all Brands and Silva has a major job on their hands.

smeggs

1.) 07 Jun 2018 11:12:53
Tosun Keane Davies and DCL are definite keepers for me.

2.) 07 Jun 2018 12:43:58
I said when Davies first broke in to the side that I think he is a mid to lower Prem player or maybe even championship. I stand by that. Nothing against the lad but he doesn’t have the physical attributes to play the sort of midfield role he tries nor has he shown the skill set to alter that role. DCL is similar. I can’t see him being a 15-20 goal a season Prem striker.

3.) 07 Jun 2018 18:45:40
It's because they are kids still and won't mature properly for at least 3 or 4 years.

Coleman was farmed out to Blackpool at an older age and didn't look the world class individual he is now.

Bit of patience.

06 Jun 2018 08:56:14
Onyekuru, Lookman, Siggy, Pickford, Coleman, Gueye, Walcott. I WANT

Schneiders, Davies, Keane, Bolasie, Tosun, Calvert Lewin. JURY OUT

The rest can be sols as far as I am concerned.

What a job Brands has!

smeggs

1.) 06 Jun 2018 09:36:01
So 7 definites - 1 of which we probably can't get a work permit for. 7 maybes making a total of 14

That means we have to sign another 11-16 players and get rid of approx. 16 - 25

and knit them all together

Keep dreaming.

2.) 06 Jun 2018 12:04:12
You want Onyekuru who hasn’t kicked a ball for us. Yet you have doubts over Tosun. And Baines can Sols as you say?

Come on Smeggs, you’re having a shocker there lad.

3.) 06 Jun 2018 11:56:14
How is jury out on dom? he's had one full season in the top flight of english football same with davies? this is why English talent doesn't develop aswel anymore people just expect them to be world class after half a season.

4.) 06 Jun 2018 13:22:13
I don't think smeggs was serious when he posted. If it was whatever he's on should have a health warning.

Much prefer his posts though to the constant doom and gloom from DFS and Dark Clouds. At least we can smile reading his.

5.) 06 Jun 2018 16:02:14
Davies, Keane, Calvert Lewin and Tosun should all definitely stay. Jury very much in for me there!

Onyekuru needs to be sold and quickly. I don't see him getting a permit anytime soon and at this rate his contract will run down first, thus losing any profit we might be able to make.
It's a hell of a shame but the reality of his situation.

6.) 06 Jun 2018 20:12:54
The young lads have done well. Tosun was by the far the most isolated and unsupported player in the league and he did well.

7.) 07 Jun 2018 08:12:23
Got the reaction I expected. I was just tired of all the doom and gloom. The players I mentioned are all positives for the squad but I would like to know if anyone can add to my list. If we are to narrow the gap to the top 6 we have 14 players that will/ can make it. If we have 35 players in the squad I would like to know who out of the 21 players can really get to top 6 level. We have our work cut out!

Nice to have Kone and Naismith to rotate or change tactics. nobody was saying that at the start of the season. Lots of pluses but this is the quiet secret we have that makes the difference

I figure we spent about 26 mil in the tfr window and retained our best players with a wage bill of 70 mil plus per season.
With debts to repay and our lack of credit worthiness, it is not far off what we can afford. We will have 28 players in our squad which is enough without being in Europe.
We mus accept the facts and move on with a reasonable squad just within our budget.

All I can say is if the target is in the public domain it usually means he will cost more.
The board would like to cash in on Stones; why they might not.
He is an appreciating asset.
The board will be disliked even more if he goes.
It sends a horrible message to the rest of the Young players.
It will take away Roberto's authority and make him look a fool in the eyes of fans and media alike.

We see Bolasie's performances but what do we really know about what he has gone through. The injury was the most serious you get in football and over 50% never recover either physically or mentally. He has had a tough ride and I wish him well.

smeggs

{Ed025's Note - i agree smeggs and i have to say i was well chuffed when we signed him, it has not worked out for him but i do wish him well mate..

To be fair Blue, I agree with what you say, but the board also had no intention of employing him a further year. He basically got double wages to keep us up, borne by the fact he was only offered an initial 1 year contract. He said he new he was out 2 months prior as did the tea lady. No doubt he played crap football but what did we realistically expect? Sour grapes for sure from him. Marco was always the target so, yes, he went for the money.

The reason the Alfie Mawson bid was not accepted until this point is simple. He has preferred destinations and waiting what transpires at Everton.
