We are getting roasted on twitter (to be fair it's very funny and sadly true) about signing Lingard by UTD fans.

In all seriousness we best not go anywhere near him.

City banned from Europe for 2 years.
That's a clear message that resolves any ambiguity about where the line is. I for one thought that it might have just become a bit of a cynical cash cow for UEFAs coffers but that's cleared that up. A perfectly timed warning for everyone else. I guess Pep will be off this summer then? And maybe a big rethink for the owners. Football never standstill.

If the ban remains in place I think Pep and a few players might be heading for the exit.

I used to rate Michael Ball as a journalist. Today he's dropped a clanger and frankly just sounds desperate to Red bash.
This FA cup replay / winter break thing should be universally supported. Its the FAs problem to resolve. No player coach or club should be put in this position. Especially when the winter break is a Month late anyway and isn't even in its 1st year. Talk about pigs ear.

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps the issue is only Liverpool are whining about it.}

1.) 27 Jan 2020 11:39:15
I have to agree with ed02 when klopp first took over at Liverpool he had a moan saying he didn't know about the Christmas fixtures and how he isn't used to it well boohoo surely he followed English football from Germany and is payed more in a year than we get in a lifetime so just get on with it.

2.) 27 Jan 2020 14:08:23
They would still get a 12 day break.
Resting the players is one thing. but why does Klopp need a break? And what about the Shrewsbury players and fans - where’s their winter break?

3.) 27 Jan 2020 15:43:28
Hopefully Shrewsbury win the game and get an even bigger purse from the next round.
It’s these games and the potential tv money which are brilliant for the lower league teams.

Who cares about Klopp a whinging anyway?

Delph 1st 30 minutes have been shocking.

1.) 18 Jan 2020 15:52:08
He along with Walcott should never play for us again.

2.) 18 Jan 2020 15:59:45
Delph use must be watching a different game than me david an walcott been shocking delph the only one making a forward pass and having a go.

3.) 18 Jan 2020 17:03:29
Delph was poor mate, his passing is shocking. Both him and Tom far two slow.

4.) 18 Jan 2020 17:29:08
He got better but the 1st 30 minutes he was useless. And when he looked like he might get a clean touch, he got in the way of our players. Thought he should have swapped with Tom D and been the anchor. Goes to show we don't have a fit CM who can play 2 in middle. Desperate to get Gbamin and Gomes back. As they're close (fingers crossed) I guess it's a position we are not too bothered about signing a new CM. Hopefully a loan?

Glad Carlo has started taking players off immediately when they do something rubbish. Walcott, Coleman both brutal but brilliant too. No messing. Shame we don't have any talent to bring on but his reaction was spot on.

5.) 18 Jan 2020 18:21:07
Brain fart. Not Coleman I mean Bernard.

Calvert Lewin you finally got it. Amazing performance. Great win today. The next few weeks could be fun reeling in the top 8. What a difference and the geezers only been in the job a week.

At last we have a manager that knows what he is doing. Great to watch as he tinkers with the team and has the players switching positions during the game. As for new players we have exciting times ahead. I wonder what Silva is thinking! Huge credit to big Dunc also.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely lemur mate..

1st bid. If they want him they'll be back.

Not sure, it's been a fast recovery. Think he was off the crutches within 2 or 3 weeks and he's had a few weeks back in the gym. You wouldn't put him in harms way with full training if wasn't ready. As he was less than 3 months out he can't be that far away fitness wise. I'd not be surprised to see him make the subs bench in the next 2 or 3 fixtures.

Baines definitely another 12 months and a pathway into the coaching setup for me. Proper servant who could have (and maybe should have) taken a big money move back in his heyday. Total respect.

I for one hope whatever happens close of deadline day is another curve ball. If it is i'll no longer bother with any rumours or whatever sites. Secretly really want whatever business to make a total mockery of the papers etc. Not convinced we are remotely interested in any of the targets doing the rounds. Waste of time all round. What will be will be.

2 years left and 2 midfielders ahead of him for a cb position. He's got to be available this summer? Pep has never really been convinced and I think when City sign another CB in the summer and Laporte comes back from injury, he's got to be out on his ear.

Will he comeback though? He left with a chorus of the usual hyenas slagging him hard when he went. He would be a massive upgrade and should start to blossom in the next 12 to 24 months too. I'd welcome him back instantly.

Should we cash in on Kenny? If FFP only goes away with substantial sales this summer. If a €20 plus bid comes in. I'd say club first and cash in. After all, isn't that the sort of business model we are supposed to be working to?
Cultivating kids to sell for big money? Hence Brands appointment?

It's the same logic as a ball having to be fully over the line for a goal. It's always been OK to have a partial amount of the ball on the line at a corner. When I played Sunday league in the 90s and 00s it was perfectly acceptable.

Even my 2 good friends who are gooners both texted stating we should have won. A first probably since the 80s.

Sidibe gives so much offensively but he's clearly a bang average defender. And will have days where his best defensive displays are below average. I think maybe if the guy has a decent RW in front of him to form a partnership with, we could see an improvement. Also to give the guy credit, he is in his 1st season in the Prem and often players need a season to adjust. 12 m? I think I'd approve us buying him.

Sig is clearly trying really hard but it's just not his game to be a hardworking CM. He enjoys the freedom of being a 10 and that's just not possible anymore in our setup. He's holding us back financially and on the pitch. Must be moved in in Summer.

Baines deserves another 12 months but in truth, he's very slow now and maybe he needs to get involved in the coaching setup, be a shame to lose such a talented servant but we really need to address LB as losing Digne was a shame for us yesterday. Also when Digne has a poor spell, he doesn't really have a threat to his position and maybe sometimes he coasts through games?

And the elephant in the room since Lukaku. Regardless of how well DCL has done, we need a serious top striker with a track record. Yesterday we should have won. That's 2nd half (other than first 5 mins) we absolutely dominated Arsenal. Leno played very well. It was fine fine margins but a striker should have walked off with the match ball yesterday.

Gomes was unbelievable and Bernard is tidy if sometimes not quite at it.
So its the classic shopping list. A CB a RW and a CF. So much of an improvement and I'm very positive about the coming seasons. We deserved to win yesterday. No doubt the better team.

The football was pretty bad generally but yeah. The game was in a much purer state. Oh and our beloved was a serious powerhouse mostly too. I'd take that level of success but with this era of athletes and speed/ skill. Not much chance for watching games on TV though. Had to read about it mostly. Actually no, these days are much much better, who are we kidding.
