Bit of a random question for the Eds or anyone with stronger knowledge.

Everton are linked with Barcelona's Todibo (would love that to happen by the way, makings of a great CB) and some dubious rumours that they would be keen on wage-subsidising a Coutinho loan move to us.

Do we actually have some sort of 'special' relationship with Barcelona? It seems odd that out of all the clubs available, Everton are apparently a club Barcelona like to favourably deal with. Yes Mina's price was high, but we got fantastic deals on Digne and Gomes.

{Ed002's Note - Jean-Clair Todibo (CB) will only be sold with a buy-back clause and €25M - plenty of interest but Barcelona do not see him as good enough - as be available in January and offered around to clubs including Everton, Inter, Manchester United. But Milan have had talks but concerns over injuries saw a lower bid made and rejected. Interest from Wolves, RBL, Roma, Bayer Leverkusen and Southampton has not seen any offer made. His agent has offered him to Napoli as a Kalidou Koulibaly replacement. It is plausible that Everton has made an approach to Barcelona but I cannot confirm it. Inter could want him in a deal for Martinez which would very much suit Barcelona, or Juventus could look to him as part of a deal for Panic for Pjanic.

Certainly Barcelona are not keen to subsidise the wages of Coutinho to move to Everton and just want him gone. Philippe Coutinho (AM/LW) after missing out on Bruno Fernandes and Hakim Ziyech Spurs enquired after Coutinho and were told that a loan fee would €30M for a season with an option to buy at €50M at the end of the season with any loaning club paying half his wages. I would expect any interested side to look for a significant reduction in such a deal. The player is being offered around PL sides. Barcelona will have to keep him if no takers are found although with a small amount of money owed to Liverpool still there may be room for them to negotiate - but I don't expect them to be interested. Leicester might offer a solution to get him off the books - but again there would be a need for some negotiation. Right now Barcelona will likely cut their losses and get the best deal they can as soon as they can - his representative may look to some sort of creative deal with an English side (such as Arsenal) - but that could cause a delay but the overall package might need to be something like a loan at a low fee, the player taking a cut on his €215k pw week wages, with Barcelona contributing nothing, and an obligation to buy at a lower figure at the end of next season.

There is no "special" relationship between the clubs.}

Wow bill - we haven’t even kicked a ball yet in season part 2 and you’re already complaining we’re falling by the way. Thought this break may have changed some perceptions - good to see people still moaning.
