I think the prolonged delay in making the appointment is a ploy. seeing more and more people saying that they’ve had enough now and just want them to get it sorted so we can prepare for the season.
Seems the anger has subsided and everyone has accepted the inevitable.
I suppose we do what we normally do and get behind the club - even though I was (am) dead against Rafa.

I don't think its a ploy at all. Not everyone is against rafa being manager. I think its more to do with getting the best manager we can for the club right now. My opinion is that rafa is the right manager for us right now. There are stubborn people who refuse to take the blue tinted glasses off and would rather cut off their nose to bite their face but each to their own.

No people haven’t just “accepted it”, plenty of people still outraged by it and will continue to be.

And that just shows what kind of fans we have. He has not had a game yet some simple minded fans right him off. did lfc fans spit there dummy out like some of our so called fans when nick barmby left us for them no or did we with beardsley . Get a grip and look at the bigger picture. Its pathetic how so called fans would rather us go for how or dyche over rafa. Take your head for a whobble and get a grip. If you want one over pool bow about support him and when he wins US trophies rub it their face. Their so called massiah wanta to manage US.

I think most of them people u speak about are pool fans, every one i speak to are happy to have rafa.

And nearly every one I speak to outside of this site doesn’t want him, it’s all dependent on who you speak to

People are allowed to not want him

Some people don’t want him simply because they think he’s finished as a top manager, in fact, every person I’ve spoken to who doesn’t want him, have said they don’t think he’ll be a good appointment, it has very little to nothing to do with him being an ex red.

{Ed0666's Note - Newcastle fans would walk over cracked glass to have him back. I would say that both clubs are similar in scenario as in their sleeping giants and need a experienced coach to give them a push to the next level. I think Rafa would be an excellent choice to do this. The difference is the geordies are realistic and don’t have ideas of grandiose

To suggest that the expectations of Evertonians and Geordies should be similar, is baffling, one owner spends, the other doesn’t, one has had a successful history, the other hasn’t, one has been flirting with Europe for years, the other hasn’t. We don’t expect the league or the champions league, we just want a team that tries hard and competes for Europe regularly, that’s it, we just want to be exactly like Leicester are, maybe a not that good, but there or there abouts in terms of how they are run.

Newcastle fans are pretty happy with 15th every season so long as their team puts a shift in. I can’t fault them for that, they aren’t a big club, or a sleeping giant. Just an okay club with a great fanbase.

Worth noting on Rafa, I’m not Rafa in or out or whatever. I’ve come to terms with it, I’ll get behind the man. One of the worst things when Martinez was in charge was Liverpool fans singing his name when they smashed us 4-0 (again) . But there’s Liverpool and Newcastle fans saying “why wouldn’t you want Rafa? He’s great”, that speaks volumes and does give me a little bit of hope that it might work out. He’s going uphill in ice skates, but here’s hoping for the best. Duncan Ferguson made a good point in an interview (about Allardyce) when he said “someone trying their best to get Everton results and being booed off the pitch, that’s not Everton”. I hope people take a lesson from that, booing Rafa on day one or during games won’t do us any favours. Neither will personal insults on banners. If you don’t like his appointment and want to protest against the board, fine, there’s ways to go about that. But actively wanting the team to suffer (in some cases) just so he gets sacked quicker will only damage us more long term.

{Ed025's Note - i agree swan mate..

baffles me when people try to compare Newcastle to Everton as Swan pointed out they are not a big club and have never been one they are a one city club with a decent fanbase but they are not a sleeping giant and are nothing more than a yo yo club and you say they don't have ideas of grandiose have you actually spoken to Newcastle fans they genuinely believe they are massive and should be challenging for the champions league while comparing themselves to Liverpool fans for atmosphere because they believe everything sky sports say and we all know sky like to make out anfield is the only ground with an atmosphere they are a laughable fanbase who scream they can't sell the away end at Goodison out because the game was played on a tues night their fans are a myth just like our neighbours.

Swan 117 wind your neck in. Newcastle have actually played in the group stage of the CL Everton haven't.

Brankwymoordock Liverpool are a bigger club than Everton and that's a FACT Another FACT is Newcastle have actually played in the group stages of the CL and Everton haven't.

Rudder, steer yourself back to the lfc page mate, you are adding absolutely zero to the conversation and nobody really cares what you think of Everton or Newcastle. I mean, getting to the group stage of the champions league makes Newcastle a big club? Crazy talk.

Bluepotato I was about to ask the same question reg Newcastle and Rudder I'm guessing you can't read as would you like to point where I said Liverpool are not a big club is this one of those kopite traits where you make something up and believe it to be gospel.

Everton haven't been a big club in over a quarter of a century. If I was Rafa I wouldn't touch Everton with a barge pole.

15.) 28 Jun 2021
28 Jun 2021 02:48:53
And before Alex Fergerson came along Manchester United had not won the league in 25 years, things change, afder all, there is a club quite close by that until resently not won there own championship in 30 years, but still insisted they we a big club, so we will build for the future, rather than try and live on past glory, but then the delusional cannot be helped.

I'm not thrilled with Rafa but I'll give him my support if he is coming in. My not liking the choice has less to do with his red history and more to do with things like being a very defensive coach who hasn't stayed anywhere long since Liverpool when we need someone to get the fans behind an exciting longterm project.
but hopefully he wins us a trophy and the haters will be so surprised they'll love him.
