The difference having more than one striker to choose from makes.

Beto was absolutely brilliant yesterday and reminded me of Duncan Ferguson. Coming deep to win the header but not just heading aimlessly, heading into players paths. It made such a difference. He should have scored, yes, but what he does and Maupay couldn't is bring players into the equation up front. And after Beto had battered their centre backs in submission, DCL came on with a point to prove and did it clinically.

DCl has had weird criticism from Evertonians. Nothing usually to do with performances but the fact he's been injured, I never get it myself. It isn't like he wants to snap a hamstring or pop a groin or injure a leg. It's even stranger that, the derogatory mentions of his attire and his choice of hand luggage and what that may suggest, seems to have gone away now it's public he has a girlfriend and a baby, hmmm. Anyway, he came on hungry and his run and finish was what we had come to expect before all of those problems.

Garner for me was my man of the match. The role for him to just move around the pitch allows his brilliant football brain to seize opportunities others just don't see. He always seemed to be in the right place. This used to be Iwobi's position but Now he's gone Garner can be allowed off the leash and unlike Iwobi, he has an end product!

Our defence has been great all season with the exception of a couple of slip ups but with the team scoring goals now, the dependency of a clean sheet isn't a necessity for us to win a game. All of a sudden, every area has a little less stress and that shone through against Brentford.

Good football, flicks, tricks but all done with a purpose. It's only one game and the most important thing is to use this as momentum. Failure to capitalise will only bring even more pressure.

For now though we can all allow ourselves a little bit of belief. Bring on the Villa!

Our defence without Keane in it has been good.

The other half who doesn’t really know football commented at how good Branthwaite was against Arsenal.
