Bloody awful game that. Would love a Q&A with Dyche if only to find out from one manager wtf he sees in Maupay. He can't play up top on his own and he can't play in a two. Gomes cannot play in the English game, that is obvious. This was a league one side and we played league one football. One thing is certain, no out and out striker brought in and we are going down. With my son and Grandson and that was the only enjoyable thing about tonight.

I personally didn’t see that as a bloody awful game. It wasn’t the best watch but another pre season friendly where a lot of our players got more match minutes which (before the season starts) is vital. No injuries. Two different teams in two different halves of football. It wouldn’t have mattered if we lost.
In my opinion with a couple of additions, including a striker I can see us bettering last seasons shambles.

You have to take in to contention we only playing weaken teams, it's a training session, yes it's nice to win, but not the end of the world, dyche wanted to see how players play under pressure, I'm sure he saw enough about some of the players to no they are or aren't good enough, worry when it's our best 11 and we play bad, bit another couple players I think we will be in a better place than we finishes last season.

Think a striker is a must dpp - given Jimenez moved for 5m, it suggests there are deals to be had with our limited resources. If we can get a credible threat up front, I see us finishing mid table. The likes of McNeil and Iwobi will provide some sort of service to them - hopefully enough for us to get something from games.

Think you learn more from these type of preseason games than ones when you beat a team 22-0.

There was some very decent movement and attacks, just lacked that finishing touch. Dobbin did well.

Defensively we’re solid and Virginia wasn’t too bad even though had a couple of misplaced passes.

McNeil looked sharp.

Maupay and Gomes offer very little.

Couple of the youngsters did themselves well, however they seem to be linked with loans away rather than being given a chance.

Another good run out and with an addition of a clinical finisher we should be fine this season - will be interesting to see if Danjuma is given a role through the middle.

The frustrating thing is we learnt most of pilaff season that Maupay isn’t good enough and can’t play in a variety of systems. It should have been sorted by now to allow for a new attacking threat time to gel and get much needed practice in.

If we can sort the front man out, I honestly think we will finish mid table this year. That will allow us time to get rid of some of the tosh and rebuild (again)

It's called reality Big Reg. The Club is a mess. The real culprits do Ostrich impressions, while the scapegoats 'resign' and get £7 mill. Meanwhile 'some' on here live in la la land thinking Everton are going after £40 mill players.
