31 days to recruit. Hopefully a lot of prep has already been done and we won't have to wait until the last day to get deals over the line. Everyone has an opinion on where we need to strengthen but for me the priority has to be an attacking midfielder who has a bit of craft.

We need someone who can see a pass (forward) and not be tempted to turn around and pass backward. Someone who can weigh in with a few goals, who can strike from distance, a player who just wants to score or be part of a goal scoring move.

We have a 25 goal a season striker, but after that there is no one who can get near to double figures. This is sub standard for any team with European aspirations.

So I would be really happy with any new signings that can share the burden of goal scoring with Lukaku or any player that can make us more relentless in an attacking threat.

Hopefully over the next month we will see what Koeman, with the help of our DOF can achieve to make us a team that shows more going forward. Whilst of course not neglecting the back.

{Ed002's Note - Lookman will be a good addition TA. There is a CB potentially on the cards as I have mentioned and an enquiry has been made recently about Nicolas Pepe (which implies a Gerard Deulofeu departure) but there is much interest in Pepe with Lyon and Newcastle both looking for a January deal.}

1.) 01 Jan 2017 17:42:22
This is what annoys me everyone saying we need a better creative midfielder barkley is that player but unfortunately every time he breaks forward he only has lukaku to pass to. Gerrard is right when he says our own fans our ruining barkley.

2.) 01 Jan 2017 17:54:40
Thing is willy. Moyes didn't trust him, Martinez wasn't honest with him and Koeman is frustrated with him. So exactly what is it that these 3 managers failed to see that you see?

And if indeed he turns out to be the player you and Gerrard say he will be then brilliant. We have one homegrown number 10 and another for competition. Win win. Not so annoying now is it.

3.) 01 Jan 2017 18:04:47
Cheers for the info Ed.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

4.) 01 Jan 2017 18:27:58
Toffee Ace I see where your coming from.

The thing for me is no wonder Barkley comes across as confused. Just read your 3 line summary of the managers he played under. And he's still only 23!

Enough to make anyone think twice about what they are doing and how to do it.

5.) 01 Jan 2017 18:28:17
Are we in for Memphis Depay?

6.) 01 Jan 2017 20:43:59
Toffee ace I think the 3 manages u mentioned have failed to see that there is no one to support rossi barkley.

7.) 01 Jan 2017 21:04:31
Very possibly Shakey. So would you support him with a creative midfielder and play Ross just behind Lukaku? I still think we need one.

8.) 02 Jan 2017 13:40:32
There is a great will here wanting Barclay to succeed because he is local but let's face it he has allways flattered to deceive time to get rid I feel.

9.) 02 Jan 2017 21:01:15
The main issue with Barkley is he is consistently played out of position. He is not and never will be a "No 10" he needs to be dropped deeper into midfield and creative players ahead of him for him to flourish. That's what all 3 managers have failed to do.

10.) 02 Jan 2017 23:51:42
Ross has got ability but no brain! He's too slow to recognise a pass. He simply does think quick enough for the prem.

Pos jimy and gibbo goin. if only sissoko comes in that'll leave us a bit short. hope there's moreally than 1 centre mid coming. Still optimistic.

2.) 31 Aug 2016 19:02:19
McCarthy won't go anywhere unless we get someone else in for cover.

3.) 31 Aug 2016 19:31:11
And don't make it up. Everton in talks per SSN. Not Jimmy Mc
Big difference.

NSNO reporting that Brahimi is on his way. Quite a reliable site so fingers crossed.

That report's a day old at least Toffee Ace. Just another site making guesses.

3.) 31 Aug 2016 17:20:09
Sorry, there is an updated report saying the same thing. let's wait. and hope.

4.) 31 Aug 2016 17:35:37
I'll take anything right now Brian I'm getting a bit nervous 😩.

31 Aug 2016 16:56:29
Jack Wiltshire is on his way to Bournemouth. Thank goodness because I'm fed up with hearing about this pointless transfer. Maybe now SSN will focus on some transfer news and shake off their arsenal obsession.

So with Barry gone and Gylfi in (almost) it kind of sends a message to Newcastle and anyone else interested in McArthy that they won't be getting him on the cheap. We have offloaded a big wage cost in Barry so we are not under any pressure to rush a deal.

So impressed with EFC with the way they are controlling almost all the serious transfers they have been involved with, in or out.

Toffee ace

{Ed025's Note - very much so ace..

Spot on Toffee Ace. Club are doing exceptional business and deserve all the praise they get.

I expect to see a lot more of Lookman this season. We bought him in January, but he's now had a pre season with us which is vitally important. His performance yesterday was just amazing.

What I like about him is if he's on the pitch you can guarantee he will take at least one shot at goal. He's good enough to create that extra yard to get his shot off.

The biggest losers from yesterday's match are Derby, as there is no chance of him going out on loan after a performance like that.

1.) 07 Aug 2017 15:25:50
changed the game yesterday Ace, went with the misses and she was like "whos he, only looks ten" ha ha, he needs to play and I think Koeman will put him in, no chance on loan to anyone.

2.) 07 Aug 2017 18:05:02
Haha, my misses said he looks like the guy off different strokes. That was when he scored against City.

05 Aug 2017 13:29:52
I wonder what the chances are of having Gylfi paraded as a new signing at half time tomorrow.

Toffee ace

{Ed002's Note - It is hard to see the Arsenal or Chelsea fans being that impressed in all honesty.}

1.) 05 Aug 2017 14:04:26
Ed 002. You are awfull, but I do like you.

03 Aug 2017 21:59:00
I actually though it was a professional job done there. We could have gone all gung ho to get the away goal and been picked off by the home team (avoiding having to type their name) . But we played it cool with the obvious limitations we have regarding match fitness and continuity.

The side has plenty of work yet ahead of them to be more competitive but I thought the game management was spot on.

And well done DCL for a well taken strike. It will only get better too.

1.) 03 Aug 2017 22:36:11
Agreed.

You're avoiding typing the name. I'm married to a Slovakian. You should hear her about the commentator's pronunciation.

Sadly this is a typical example of player power. The boy will end up screwing the club he supports. When Rooney left we got a really good fee for a boy his age although it then went on to be a bargain for united, we needed the money so it was win win.

Barkley's departure will be very different and will vilify him to a point that unlike Rooney it will be very difficult to accept him back. Then once spurs chew him up and spit him out as they usually do, he will end up at West Ham or Palace looking up the table at Everton wondering what went wrong.

Some posters on here have never experienced a successful period of time. But for those who have we can remember how bleak it was looking under Kendall until halfway through one cup match it all changed. The team until then had new players that weren't gelling.

But when it did, boy we looked unstoppable at times. I loved those days and will never forget the tangible swing of success in our favour.

So if it's looking a bit disjointed or the signings aren't looking to be as good as we'd hoped. Remember the last time we were the best there was. That should give you all hope.

{Ed025's Note - i remember it well ace, one goal from inchy and the rest is history mate..

If we could get him though, he would be a very good signing. He's a goal scorer no doubt about it. His hold up play is excellent and him and Sigi have an understanding.

As Degs says. We could have 3 good years from him.

{Ed002's Note - And he has a broken arm.}

Skylark. In a weird way you make me laugh. Always havin a go, never happy. Plenty to moan about. A bit like Alf Garnet. Following this club can be proper stressful right now but you mate always puts a smile on my face because of your constant pessimism. It’s almost entertaining.

Don’t take it the wrong way as I’m not trying to have a go, you genuinely make me chuckle mate.
