Why did we loan out Tom Cannon? Who makes these decisions.

Luckily someone's finally doing a good job at running the youth system it seems. A bright light and fantastic for the club. Let's praise this strange anomalie. We have what? 3 or 4 doing great on loan. And long may this be the standard operation every season. Thelwell finally sticking it up the nose of DOF detractors?

No fing good at Preston, we knew he was good, we knew we needed strikers and we loaned him out. All the eggs in DCL basket.

First it was Dobbin, then Simms, now Cannon.

Agree with DFS he would have excelled under Sean, we need all the help we can get.

Isn't young payers going on loan to see how good they are playing 1st team football. Tom Cannon job done now we know he's worth a try next season, as surely pressure of relegation battle would of been too much. Oh, surprise same for Nkounkou and Branthwaite.

Totally agree Blueboy. Some people just look for reasons to have a go.

Took him a while to get going there. He’ll come back full of confidence and play, or, he’ll be worth a lot more than he was, both a step in the right direction.

Didn't see anyone moaning about him being on loan when he scored 1 in 8 games! He's doing what we hoped while out on loan, will help him in the future. Rather he was out and scoring goals than sitting on our bench scratching for minutes.

Think it's 8 goals and 2 assists in 12 games. Let him develop and get game time and goals. Will hopefully be a real asset next season.

Unbelievable run of form for cannon. Anyone know whether he will be part of the 1st team next season?

In two minds about it

I'm all for youth squad players going out to get more time actually playing with senior players

However with our league positions and weakness offensively would it have been wiser to keep Cannon back in case we picked up another injury and needed him or if we gave him an opportunity and he responded to it like he has at Preston. albeit it took him some games to adjust

I guess we'll know at end of season. If we stay up it was a good decision. If we go down could he have kept us up?

Good point bw but I presume we could of called him back in the event of injuries leading to him being needed. Maybe not. Probably depends whether it is in the loan agreement or not.

Loaning out helps their development. Small steps, people moaned about ellie simms and how he should be playing but for be he isn't there yet, sometimes if you throw them in at the deep end too siib5, they sink or swim, but too soon, it can be detrimental to development, lose confidence and can't regain their form.

We had another player at Preston not to long ago and look how that turned out.

Indeed we did, bluefish. The last one is still being a bit stroppy at his new club, let's hope Tc actually keeps his head and doesn't begin to think he's made it and become a bit of a prima Donna!
