Looks like simms is definitely off somewhere as wasn’t at start of pre- season training.

With all the clubs rumoured to be in for him (Coventry, Sunderland, Swansea and a few others) it’ll be interesting to see where he goes and how much we get for him or whether he’s involved in a deal with a player coming our way.

The trick we missed was not signing him last summer for under 10 million and signing Maupay instead. If he is wants to go to Sporting, and who could blame him, there’s no deal to be done. Been a frustrating few windows now and doesn’t look plain sailing this time either.

Why buy Gyokeres who Simms out scored at a worse championship team?
I think he's too slow for the prem and isn't an out and out number 9 which we desperately need.
Maybe in a 2 he could do something but the fact he's been available for weeks and no one else from the prem has had a sniff says it all.
If he was good enough he's the right price for a Brentford, Brighton, West ham or Palace who all need reinforcements up front.
Personally I think he was Frank's choice and it would have gone south if we'd got him last season.
For a similar price, if he was available someone like Broja would be a safer bet.

Jo Blythe, We all hoped that Ed! As you’ve said, Ed, I’ll reserve judgement until mid August, when hopefully we’ll have bought at least 4 or 5 new players in.

Most definitely Ed. I know it’s a gamble buying a player like Gyokeres, but it still feels like we’ve missed something there. And, yet another player leaving the already depleted squad. I know that logic would tell you that they must have realistic targets in mind and are working on them so we don’t start the season in a weaker place than we scraped by last season, but, we are Everton at the end of the day and I’m braces for the worst possible scenario over the next few weeks.

{Ed025's Note - i actually have a good feeling about the forthcoming season pierre, now that might sound daft at the moment but i think...nay hope, that with Sean we can build something that resembles an old school everton side.....or maybe im just turning into....Guernsey Blue.. :)

habe to agree with smit666. iv seen gyökeres play a couple times and he's way to slowconsidering his technical ability isn't the best. 20 million for him is a rip off imo.

Ed, with no pace the Coventry striker would have been another disaster which we would have been trying to get rid of post haste.
Definitely dodged a bullet there and in all probability Simms will become a better player, so good business done by Coventry.

Everyone is going on like we were actually after him, nobody knows if we were or not, paper talk along with every other Tom dick and harry, just wait and see what happens, couple of sales now, so it's only a matter of time before we actually see some players come in .
Personally Jack Harrison would be a smart move, I'm not convinced the young lad from Leeds is what we need, we need experience to keep us away from the wrong end of the table, so can't rememeber how to spell his name, also what about Dakar of Leicester, has pace and even thou didn't score to many imagine him pick off balls fro. DCL and then some one the other side with Pace and goals we are half way to top 10 ?.

Gyökeres is a great striker has has got everything that’s needed to be a success in any team or in any league, just the type we desperately needed but it looks like the lad wants to play in Portuguese league
Massive miss for us but maybe it’s better he goes to Europe and not to one of the Premiership rivals.
