Right so Rafa will (should) be given longer. A suspicious/ cynical person may be thinking Brands has gone, to prevent someone else having to do the right thing.

Someone's head needed to roll after the last month.

Been going on for years Cookie78. Root and branch clearout once Moshrie bought in, never happened.

Having said that look at the players Brands brought in and he was certainly a problem:
Digne 8 or 9
Virginia 6 ish?
Bernard never at races
Mina 8 or 9 one of best
Gomes maybe Rafa can get a tune but I doubt it.
Zouma 9 should have secured him.
Lossi who!
Delph 4 at best
Gbamin injured never seen him
Kean - we were used
Sidibe - who knows but he looked good going forward.
Iwobi expensive panic buy
Branthwaite in waiting.
Nkounkou I think a good player
Allan good but no pace to get back needs to sit in front of back 4
Rodriguez - luxury
Doucoure 9
Godfrey on form 9
Olsen 7
King didn't fit.

Brands has gone, others now need to consider.

Part of me thinks it’s good he’s gone because logic dictates he was in charge of transfers, and we’ve wasted probably £350m since he came in. The other part of me questions how much control he actually had and whether he was the problem or is it someone else (maybe this supposed advisor Moshiri has) ?

IMO getting rid of Benitez would have been a mistake for two reasons. Firstly he’s been there five minutes, had no money and not done much worse than his predecessors. Secondly the issues are clearly further up the hierarchy so hopefully now there have been changes at board level, we may see some real change.

Brands made his name at a side that built a youth setup that was unreal, creating talent for the first team and serious money through sales. My concern is why didn’t he do that with us given the money that was available. Was it because he didn’t have the clout?

Windsor. i think its a few reasons.

1) its hard to bring kids through in a poor side, which we have been. Easier to bring them through at psv who won things.

2) Dutch football is generally poor apart from the top 3 or 4 teams so the kids find it easier to develop

3) he would have had top coaches to develop the youth team and not had to keep the old boys he had here who obviously aren't up to much when you look at the relatively small number of kids we bring through.

I, for one, am happy he's gone. I always believe the manager should be responsible for choosing the players to bring in. Streamlined decision making and then the anger can live and die by their decisions.

DOF or technical director should only be responsible for sorting the money side of things.

I agree mate but you look at where City were when they got money and they didn’t have the best first team players to develop youth either. But they built one of the most successful youth development systems in world football and it’s paid massive dividends.

With respect that's took over 10 years and they just bought the best 1st teasers the meantime. before ffp and also flouting it. hence the investigations and minimal punishment. weak uefa.
