Ed02 if the 777 takeover goes through do you see Everton signing players from liege Genoa etc similar to Watford and udinese?

TopG

{Ed002's Note - No, I am not aware of any such plans.}

1.) 25 Sep 2023 15:37:21
Thanks for the response, do you expect any sort of transfer budget to be made available or will it still be a case of sell to buy?

{Ed002's Note - Transfers will not be a matter of discussion right now. Regardless, the club has to be sustainable.}

2.) 25 Sep 2023 23:27:52
Steak pies will go up.

3.) 26 Sep 2023 06:42:18
Totally agree Ed.

We can’t just think that because we’ve got new owners we can start throwing money around again. Years of signing players with no sell on value, on massive contracts has crippled us.

We’ve got to look to sign younger players who should, given the right amount of time and coaching, become sellable assets. Branwaithe and Onana are perfect examples of this. We will probably lose them both next Summer, but (if we are still in the Prem) we should hope to get £50m for them each maybe more; in Branthwaite’s case, that’s pure profit. We can then look to reinvest that.

The green shoots are there. I reckon we should be in a far better place after the next two transfer windows (if 777 don’t bankrupt us) .

{Ed002's Note - How would 777 bankrupt Everton?}

4.) 26 Sep 2023 11:06:21
I think there is misconception that 777 would be bad for our finances which I don't think is the case. They may very well be very good for our finances but at the expense of our soul and possibly even worse results on the pitch if there other clubs performance are to be believed.
Having said that, I think of all the Clubs they own Everton has the most potential upside of they can get the results on the pitch so it really is in their own interests to aim to improve us.

5.) 26 Sep 2023 11:23:57
From what I can see 777 will run the club similar to the Liverpool structure, spend what you earn which potentially could be a decent amount once stadium is completed

Genoa and Melbourne seem to be doing ok and they won't invest more into standard liege as there's no money in the Belgian league so why throw it away

Sustainability is something Everton need right now so maybe not all doom and gloom after all.

Ed02 may I ask if you know if any outgoings before the Saudi and Turkish windows close?

Specifically gray, Andre gomes and dele Alli

Seems very quiet with gomes and Alli, could they stay until January?

TopG

{Ed002's Note - Demarai Gray (LW/AM) Will be available. Third choice for Fulham and down the list for Crystal Palace. Everton priced him out of a move to Al-Ettifiq but they could return with a better offer. I think he may leave given that Everton have similar players.
Andre Gomes (CM) Will return from his loan at Lille and then a decision will be made. Lille may be open to making an offer. Wasserman will be looking for other options and are trying to gain interest from the Middle East. I suspect he will stay until January.
Dele Alli (CM/AM) It continues to go horribly wrong and I understand Everton want the entire distraction of Dele Alli away from the club on a permanent basis. He should be at his peak value yet he is worth little to Everton if they want to sell - and finding a buyer will be near impossible. The loan to Besiktas did not well and they did not take up their option to buy. A loan seems the best way to get at least the bulk of his wages off the books - but the PL seems unlikely to offer options. Everton could look to release him but will not want to pay up his contract - so some negotiation is required - particularly with Spurs if Everton want to avoid an issue with the PL. Will stay until January at least unlesss a loan offer appears.}

Thanks very much for the reply.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Apparently akor Adams from lillestrome will be signed after chermeti.

TopG

1.) 05 Aug 2023 08:49:57
CHERMETI taking an age to sign. Only Everton could drag out a nailed on transfer for over a week! From he's packing his bags and coming to have a medical to he's staying with our opponents squad today. ?.

2.) 05 Aug 2023 13:32:33
Never cut and dried with this lot.

30 Jul 2023 19:07:42
Apparently Everton have bid 20 million for iling junior of juventus. Any of the Eds know if this is true?

TopG

{Ed025's Note - just another name thrown into the pot TopG, every man and his dog will be linked until the window closes mate..

1.) 31 Jul 2023 10:21:38
I'd be very surprised if we had anything close to 20 million. Every penny has disappeared.

2.) 31 Jul 2023 19:26:19
Think we have it but have to be very careful. As said over and over again it is wages that are killing us, we 'have' to reduce them.

How I see Evertons squad for next season

GK. Pickford begovic crellin
Rb Coleman Patterson
CB. Tarkowski keane
CB. Branthwaite Godfrey
Lb. Mykolenko Gibson
RW. Iwobi elanga
Cm. Garner gana
Cm. Doucoure onana
LW. mcneil gray
St Calvert lewin Simms
St. Gyokeres cannon

Possibly another youngster or two for depth.

TopG

1.) 03 Jun 2023 17:03:44
if that's the squad then were a million % down next season.

2.) 03 Jun 2023 17:19:38
I certainly hope not.

3.) 03 Jun 2023 17:42:35
That would represent a very poor summer of business.

4.) 03 Jun 2023 20:02:29
With the exception of Elanga I can't disagree with any of that TopG. Elanga is simply not coming. Ed002 replied to a rumour post about it.

Although, I do think we will get 2 or 3 players in on a free. Look at the player who played every minute last season. First one that was signed last summer and on a free. A full season under Dyche that squad would stay up.

People keep saying the recruitment needs to get better. Obviously it has been diabolical for a number of years. Overall since Thelwell came in I think it has improved.

Of course Alli was a blunder. Was Tarkowski? Garner? Onana? McNeil? All four of those players value has gone up from what we paid. They aren't the only ones either. Also a lot of deadwood was moved on. It's not all bad since Thelwell came on. This summer should tell a lot if he remains.

5.) 03 Jun 2023 21:00:42
The point is more so that we were very close to going down with that team. We were lucky that those around us were so poor. Failure to improve the squad will see the same again. We had absolutely nothing off the bench. Must recruit.

6.) 03 Jun 2023 22:36:28
I do wonder whether having a fit striker who can score goals and being others in to play would have seen us finishing higher with this squad…

Not meaning to play devil’s advocate but would we have been mid table with this squad and Dyche in charge all season?

I still think we need to recruit players but I do think a striker or two would change our whole match day approach to winning and not sneaking a draw or 1-0.

7.) 03 Jun 2023 23:41:37
Keep the Chairman in a soundproof room away from negotiations and we should be okay.

8.) 04 Jun 2023 02:14:47
Dream big mate ?.

9.) 04 Jun 2023 08:00:11
Couldn't agree more BR2022-23. A lot of the performance this season was down to previous management. Mainly FL but also a hangover of previous managers and bad recruitment. Hopefully the hangover of this is mostly dealt with it and next season we start improving instead of declining. I believe it will with Dyche. He brings positivity.

Totally we need recruitment. That will always be needed. Looks like it's on the cards because players are being moved on to make room for others to come in. That are more suitable and more to the point within budget. We have to be on best behaviour for a good while. Maybe we will get away with a slap on the wrist if we do.

10.) 04 Jun 2023 10:36:02
Fair points all - you’d expect Dom would have scored 15 goals ish if fit for the season, and that would likely have moved us up the table. Any team needs recruitment though, as others have said, and our squad overall is weak, and weaker still now others have left. Continue the clear out, then recruit young, talented, reasonably priced players.

{Ed025's Note - easier said than done JB, and with our track record im not very confident we have the skill set to do that mate..

11.) 04 Jun 2023 11:35:17
It is Ed, you’re right. Players like Onana, Garner and Patterson are a step in the right direction though. We need to steer clear of gas beens who want 100-200k a week to play.

{Ed025's Note - i must say im not an Onana fan JB, but your right about buying average players with world class wages mate...we are the kings of that..

12.) 04 Jun 2023 16:09:00
I don’t understand the hype either Ed. If the consensus is that he’s worth 40-60mill, get him sold quickly before everyone else sees what we see.

{Ed025's Note - i think your spot on JB..

13.) 04 Jun 2023 19:53:35
Both of you could be right. Arsenal inquiring bout him. Talk of Chelsea. Thing for me is he is so young. 10 plus years. £60m would be temtping but for me keep and try build round him.

14.) 04 Jun 2023 22:53:56
We have to build a team around our strongest and fittest players.

Regarding Onana we've only seen his first season in a very poor team in the EPL. If we pay him as an anchor with Garner and Doucoure as box to box, that will leave Gana as the impact player to either shore the defence or as 20 minutes high impact midfielder.

As we all agree our new philosophy should be fitness and strength to out battle our opposition, seconded with good amount of skill, passion and a determination to win.

15.) 05 Jun 2023 18:48:16
Couldn't of put it better myself Blueboy2410.

If only football was that simple, Sheffield United have a very good disciplined side and Luton have momentum and could do what Bournemouth did first season and surprise everyone you just never know.

There's a highly rated young centre back at Peterborough who's manager said the top four clubs should be sniffing around him but aren't. Maybe you should sign him if moneys right?
