David Ornstien reporting Gordon to Chelsea looking unlikely which is good news.

{Ed025's Note - that would depend on your point of view lamps.

It's good news, if true, in my opinion.

I am more than happy for one of our own and one of our best players to stay ??. A large part of that though is my trust in us reinvesting 60+ million (or whatever it is) as I’m going to need a bit more convincing on that front ?.

Worst possible news! Gordon will not keep us up by staying! The 60mil fee would give us a better chance of actually progressing forward doing the right business. A rebuild from the bottom up. I just don’t see how the club can reject that sort of money even the majority of the fans agree it’s the right thing to do for the club and the squad.

My view ED25 is we are in a win win if he stays then amazing we keep a player with massive potential if they offer stupid money then we lose him but we can the reinvest in the squad.

{Ed025's Note - I like Gordon lamps. But if the sort of money being banded around is correct…I would sell him in a heartbeat mate..

I'm 100% with Eddy above.
I consider this bad news, that money could be invested so much better.

If people believe his value will remain at 60M+, then ok, let's keep him for another season, hope he does very well and doesn't get injured.
If not, this is a very good sheet balancing opportunity missed.

{Ed025's Note - I’m with you Dan..

The reality is, we will have to sell players to progress so the ideal is to sell when the players price is the highest. We will never get another offer of 50million for Gordon so I would reluctantly sell.
Chelsea might not be this stupid next window.

Hand on heart I don’t think there’s a single Everton fan that honestly believes Gordon is a £60m player.

I also don’t believe that we actually received such an offer for him - Frank even came out and said that himself.

As to believe they then offered £25m and Broja and Gallagher - even more nonsense.

Would be interesting to know what the real offer from Chelsea was and then we could debate whether or not we should sell at that price.

Will be glad when the window shuts and we know who is in the squad and isn’t as all this noise is bad enough for us fans but imagine what it’s like for the squad.

I would have been happier if DCL had gone and Richarlison stayed, that wouldn't have brought as much income though.

We also have to remember according to FL no 60 million bid has come in.

GD is completely right. We don't know the actual bids that have come in for him from Chelsea, Newcastle or even Spurs

My view. I don't think he is as good as Rooney and finances made us sell him and the same applies to Gordon. Any bid over 40-45 m has to seriously considered as I personally don't think he is worth that and 2-3 players for that money would strengthen a weak squad

DFS - it would depend on what we could have gotten for DCL. Ricky had more left to write off on the balance sheet so less of a profit if we could have sold for same money but DCL had a lower salary so we save more on annual costs getting rid of Ricky

What will happen to Gordon if we don't sell him? He's currently got 3 years left on a contract in which we pay him 10k per week. Great pay for most of us but p*ss poor for our Player of the Season and especially compared to what we are paying Tarkowski, Allan, Gomes, Gbamin, McNeil etc. We offered him a new contract but was it anywhere near our top range of salaries or what he had apparently agreed with Chelsea? Will be interesting to see if we can keep him happy.

He should be Wanting the move himself because we are not going to be at that end of the table anytime soon. He’s going to be playing Cl
Football with some world class players better chances playing for England better financial package and not the weight of a whole club on him because if he stays after a large bid the pressure will mount on him not by his own doing but the clubs putting all our eggs in his basket.
