Finally a name to get excited about. We are supposedly in for Boro CB Gibson.

Watched a few of his games for boro and in the U21 and he looks really good. Would be great to have the England central pairing for the for the 2022 WC on the books.

Would be great competition for Jags as he is getting older and will push on browning as well.

Hmmm. one for the future maybe, but I'm not sure that 'excited' covers it SydneyMAC.
All the teams around us are strengthening.
We finished 11th last term.
Our top talents are all subject to bids from other clubs.
We need a few bigger and better signings then Gibson - although I'd welcome him from what I've seen.

2.) 20 Jul 2015 13:54:17
Agree with JBlue. Saw a couple of his games and wasn't all that impressed, especially considering he's 22. He looked like he may one day be okay, but to be 22 and struggling at an u21 tournament doesn't bode well for me, and he's definitely not what we need to drag us back into Europe.

3.) 20 Jul 2015 17:56:01
I can't contain my excitement

4.) 20 Jul 2015 23:22:11
I'm on the edge of my seat.

See the reds have got 10 of the first 13 games in TV vs our 6 further widening financial gap.
Anyone know what Man U and Spurs got my guess still more then us despite finishing below us!

SydneyMAC

1.) 14 Jul 2014 22:38:09
I fully understand the point you're making but we're Evertonians, we go the match, that's what we do.

2.) 15 Jul 2014 00:03:07
Don't be small minded. Not all Evertonians live close enough to Goodison to go to the game. Especially those with an Australian city in their name.

More live TV means more revenue and a chance for our faithful fellow supporters to see it as it happens.

The point Sydney is making is that how are we ever going to close the gap on other teams financialy when they get twice as much live coverage as we do.

3.) Here in America we get every bpl match televised or online through our calendar provider! Which is kind of ironic since in england only a few are per week.

4.) I have said this before. It's basic supply and demand economics. Sadly we are not the most supported team so we do not demand the same advertising revenue as say a Manchester United when they play on tv. None of us are complaining about the tv revenue we have received because of the new deal so I don't think we should be complaining about who they choose to broadcast.
Living in Sweden they do show all games live so I don't have the problem but would swap it to be able to go live to all the games

5.) Apologies if anyone took my original reply the wrong way, it was a stab at humour and wasn't meant to sound arrogant or derogatory to anyone.

Just saw a list of the cars driven by premiere league captains.
There are Aston Martins, Bentley's, Range Rovers, Mercs.

"What does Jags drive?" I hear you ask.

A VAUXHALL AMPERA! WTF! that is a 35K car with all the trimmings. Great that Jags is understated but can't help but think it is a sign of Everton at the moment. Will do what it is meant to but never be top class.

20yrs and counting.

1.) 02 Jul 2015 11:00:53
Sydney can you let everyone know what car mario ballotelli drives .get the point

{Ed001's Note - which one? He has a collection of flash motors, including that idiotic camo painted Bentley. I do see your point though, not sure what is wrong with a player having a normal car, he is a footballer not a racing car driver after all.}

2.) 02 Jul 2015 12:37:18
Personally, I think it's greatly to his credit & says a lot about him as a man. It's a very environmentally friendly car so he cares more about the planet than being seen as a "flash get"! If only more footballers were like this & not just money junkies, our game would be in a much better place. Well done, Jags. Carry on, lad!

3.) 02 Jul 2015 12:52:36
Could be he has kids that need taking to school and stuff like that.not much room in a Ferrari for that malarkey. Barcelona must be praying Messi doesn't buy a micra,or they will have to sell him. 😜

4.) 02 Jul 2015 13:15:58
I know that when Alan Ball played r Blackpool he had a RED
Ford Zepher, when he sighed for Everton, he changed the colour to white I think.
Colin Harvey drove a Mini when we won the Championship 69/70.
How times have changed.

5.) 02 Jul 2015 13:31:31
Its because he's not complete D**K

6.) 02 Jul 2015 14:46:17
Really? Because a player does not drive a high class car it's bad for us?. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

7.) 02 Jul 2015 17:06:26
Have to agree with most of the replies in this post. Surely because a premier league player drives a normal car and not some flash car that screams wealth it makes him more down to earth. I found an old programme from the mid 80's up in the loft a while ago. There was an interview with Paul Bracewell in it in which he was over the moon he'd just upgraded his car to a Ford Sierra, a reps car for heaven's sake. Also, didn't Jurgen Klinsman drive an old VW Beatle? He can't have been short of a few quid.

{Ed025's Note - nice to hear that RIB, if only these prima-donnas that pose as footballers today had that attitude..thanks for sharing mate..

8.) 02 Jul 2015 20:51:56
Enjoyed those Top Gear posts. Paid sixty notes for my first car a just about roadworthy Vsuxhall Victor, even remember reg 2670LV.
Didn't realize ay the time but log book listed previous owners from new. Nasty shock to see I owned the car of a former Liverpool captain.

{Ed025's Note - i hope you scrapped it tedster.. :)

9.) 02 Jul 2015 21:35:31
Big dunc drove an escort van

{Ed025's Note - he also drove some centre halves batty jab.. :)

10.) 02 Jul 2015 21:38:23
Couldn't afford to straight away. Mind you spurred me to swap it for a Morris Marina. What a heap that was.

{Ed025's Note - my first was an orange mini tedster MFR857T, i dont think anyone does not remember their first mate..

11.) 02 Jul 2015 22:15:29
Great little thread this.
Just finished reading Jimmy Case's book and he mentions that, back in the day, Phil Neal and Alan Kennedy had sponsored cars from Lada!
Back when they were glorified two-stroke second hand lawn mowers. LMAO.

{Ed025's Note - i think they had food mixer engines juicer.. :)

12.) 02 Jul 2015 22:37:57
The worst of it may be, Ed, that both players had the perm hairdos.
Driving a Lada with a perm.
What!?

{Ed025's Note - and a shell track suit mate.. :)

Geri Signed!

Plus Martinez quoted as saying 'Our objective was to secure Tom and Gerard as quickly as we could and I'm really pleased this is exactly what we've done' which suggests Clevs is definitely signed.

Finally how great Geri "I'm Back! Once a blue, always a blue" Amen Geri!

These fixtures should be seen as an opportunity not a negative. Apart from moyes when in charge of United and us no top 4-7 manager complains about the fixtures. If anything this start will allow us to challenge the "bigger" clubs early and when our squad depth gets tested mid season we have a supposed easier run.

So if we sign this Estonian defender Ragner Klaven our defence will have gone from Jags to Rags.

Sorry too much coffee.

Aaron Lennon will be the difference for us in the remaining league games. He can't play in the EL and therefore always fresh for the league, was absolutely awesome today!

The other thing is finally Gibbo got a run out in the league! Whilst not the quickest his eye for a pass is second to none in the team.

C'Mon blues my bet is finishing on 51 points and winning the Europa League!

This is incorrect.
BBC article states Hull go straight to group stage as the FA Cup is held in higher position then 5th in league. It was decided by FA to keep teams interested in FA Cup and limited instances of teams entering weakened teams in cup.
So regardless of result it will be
Hull - group stage
Us - final qualifier
Spurs - third round qualifier

Ed how did you let that post from Danny go up? That sort of sexist crap against a fellow fan shouldn't be allowed. Female sport fans are essential to helping grow the sport. Oh and personally I agree with Steph, overrated and injury prone if the reds think he is their answer to Suarez leaving more fool them.

SydneyMAC

{Ed025's Note - i never syd mac...another ed did..i dont do sexism mate and have deleted the post, i agree with you about female fans, jenny taylor on arsenal is a cracking poster mate, a lot of her stuff is better than a lot of her male counterparts..

We could be ahead of them on good potentially. their good is +19 ours is +16 if they lose City & Us 1-0 that brings their good down to +17 we win 1-0 against Fulham and them our good goes to +18. BOOM!

I like the idea, but I would bring Mirallas into the middle, quick feet and prefers to play central - it is where he played in Greece.
