It would be a no from Shakey in regards Greenwood.

Talented as he is. He is guilty by public opinion until the so called new evidence is shown. The tape recording does him no favours, wether it was a set up, role play or whatever else could claim to be.

Greenwood would be a million times better than anything we have so would take him in a heartbeat. The lad was cleared and the accuser is still with him and dropped all charges so surely he deserves another chance in the prem as well? Too easy to make accusations and ruin a lads career sure he is no angel but is young so hopefully will have learnt a lesson. The fact the girl is still with him makes me think there is a lot more to what went on than the recording which could have easily been a setup.

So the issues are what was exactly the "new evidence that came to light" and how exactly did a witness retract a statement and decide to no longer participate.
Unfortunately without those things coming out and both of them being incredibly favourable to Greenwood. Well, he's literally marked for death. A careers ending death that is. Any club foolish enough to touch him will have a a player who's not played or trained for a long long time. They'd also have very vocal upset fans who would refuse to attend games. The match days would be full of national news coverage of all the protests and frankly it's not worth it. I guess the guy will do well to go out to Saudi, become a mega star as one of the truly talented under 40s and earn enough money to disappear.
If someone could substantially prove his total innocence and prove the infamous audio wasn't him, then maybe he'd be worth a punt. Not going to happen though because he's a total wrongen.

I totally agree DFS and I have posted on here about the appalling waste of a certain Icelandic player.
However when it's a high profile sportsman celebrity etc, the mob have always won this one. And obviously there are countless examples of having the truth buried until it's far to late. Different but the same is what everyone outside of Merseyside was led to believe happened at Hillsborough because it suited a stereotype narrative. Times are bad at our club, would we really want to add a scenario with Greenwood into the mix?
Maybe he is an amazing talent that is going to waste but I would not want to see him at the club

That said, their is probably some lunatic in the club who is thinking, if we sign Greenwood would that distract the fan base away from the dire finances and league position with something else to chat about
