As we all know, my fellow Evertonians, what we get on transfer speculation is 2nd or sometimes 3rdhand at best at this time of year and any transfer negotiations are pretty much like a game of poker and should be treated with skeptism but if the current reporting of Everton's opening offer to Middlesbrough for Hayden Hackney are to be believed, 10 million for arguably the Championship best player is rather foolhardy to say the least of course we are not in the know and it could all be just BS but this is the time to tread carefully but not he absolutely ridiculous and dare I say it insulting with those in my humble opinion low ball offers but I am sure some other of my fellow Evertonians will hold different opinions.

Understand our initial offer for Hayden Hackney has been rejected.

Middlesborough reject the offer of £10m paid over 34 years that included a signed Apostolos Vellios shirt and a strand of Jack Grealish’s hair.

See Spurs have signed Andy Robinson, experienced defender, 32, on a free. My brother in law is well chuffed. Wonder if we had signed him what the comments would have been.

Would never have happened.

I do find it a bit ironic though that they hate Trent for going to Real Madrid (for £8m) and Konate going to Real Madrid for free, but love Robertson for going to another Premier League on a free.

Strange one, mate.

FFS Hasn't Moyes got the balls to tell Pickford and Tarkoswski that neither of them are good enough to captain the team. Tarkowski is constantly getting into trouble with ridiculous tackles when caught with or without the ball, and Pickford's concentration is limited at best. Constantly ranting and gesticulating to team mates. The opposition must be made up. The bickering that goes on amongst our back four.

Garner is best just doing what he does without other distractions, so I don't know who else ganna if he stays. But as a former poster said there should be 11 captains on the pitch because the amount of times the armband gets passed about in games now is riduculous. He comes on, gets the armband, then somebody else comes on and the armband is passed again. So as I stated I have no idea who should have it.

See we are looking forward to a new Captain after Seamus, my vote would go to James Garner, excellent player for us.

I know that there are other positions that need to be filled, but I really wouldn't like to trust Moyes with signing another striker.
I really wanted Franculino Dju last summer when he was available for about £15m, but instead we wasted £27.5m on a bag of ****.
The current names in the frame appear to be Jesus and Delap and to be honest neither fill me with confidence.
Our 2 strikers aren't good enough and need to go, but I have a feeling and hope that I am wrong, that Moyes will keep Barry. If that is the case then we will still need 2 strikers.

I would still love to get Dju, but our failure to get into Europe will go against us and his price will have doubled also. An experienced striker would also be useful and I gather that we tried to get Lukaku in January. I would certainly take him on a 2 year contract as if he could stay fit he still knows where the net is. He is also rumoured to be available for about £12m. Conte has just left the club and it has been reported that the owners want De Bruyne and Lukaku gone.

I am with you on Dju Shropshire. He would offer us something completely different up there as he can actually play football.

You are spot on. I think we missed the boat on him last summer and then he suffered the serious-ish injury in winter.

Can see someone like Lille or Benfica going for him. They always seem to get the lads in from the lesser leagues that are about to explode and then sell them on for a ridiculous profit.

Isn't Lukaku on ridiculous wages?

He spent the season on the training table. Send him to MLS.

He will be on a decent wage BN, but I think that he's desperate to have another crack at the Premier League and he did play his best football in this league with us, so may feel that he has unfinished business.

The other advantage is that TFG will know all about his demands, having had him at Roma. Definitely think he is worth a punt.

Reading today who should be our next Captain, my choice would definitely be James Garner, he has been excellent.

Kdh, I'd like to see as captain. Think he would be more vocal than Jimmy.

2

05 Jun 2026 17:32:12
Your captain has to be a leader, not sure it would suit Garner as he's not the most vocal of players.

Would be a slap in the face for Pickford if it's not him. World-class keeper, England's number 1 for years, loyal when others would have moved on. He gets my vote.

Does anyone think that if we can get some sort of deal tied up quickly with Grealish, it would help serve to attract chances of better players wanting to sign for the club.

Certainly couldn't hurt.

05 Jun 2026 12:48:52
Hope we get him, he's made for our Club.

05 Jun 2026 13:30:22
Made for our club?? You mean overpriced, injury prone and 30?? Only messing. I like Grealish, he could've been the difference in a few of the final games because he would've kept possession or won a free kick instead of us just giving the opposition the ball back.

I think, from his comments, he wants to stay. It just depends what City's new manager wants, I guess, but big thumbs-up from me. 👍👍👍

Nice one, mate, you had me there at the beginning, buddy.

Trying to stay positive. Gonna be a long few months getting linked with alsorts. Not that we sign players early anyway, and find it strange Moyes will be in America. I thought managers were at the clubs to talk to the new players coming in, but probably do that on FaceTime now.

Let's hope he can spot a few bargains while he is over there and chat to them after the games.

I just think we have got to avoid last minute panic transfers. Most supporters seem fairly unanimous over the areas in which signings are needed. So, I would like to assume our "recruitment specialists" and manager think the same and have done plenty of scouting/research to hit the ground running once the window opens.

We don't want another last minute expensive signing like last season with Dibling situation (I have nothing against him personally, as, like everyone else, I have not seen anything of him play at the club to form an opinion) .

1

05 Jun 2026 14:52:17
That's what annoys me. Managers bring in players to suit how you play Grealish, and the odd time Dibling did play had 2 men on them straight away because our fullbacks didn't overlap, neither are blessed with pace, but can pick out runs and need that extra space to do what they do. Ndiaye is different coz I think he would try and take on everyone on pitch with his silky footwork and tries to do it on his own coz he has no support up there with him, and I personally think he will be gone this window.

Been offered better terms apparently, but wants a £40 million pound release clause which just happens to be what Utd offered for him in Jan and we want it at £70 to £80 million I believe.

For me Ron, two "proper" full backs are needed as priority for the very reason you have outlined.
To play a central defender at RB for virtually a whole season is ridiculous. Not the fault of the player. He must be totally demoralised about it, particularly when he was needed in central defence in any case.

See Brentford have had a £43 million pound bid for a German 19-year-old forward and were so-called offering Arsenal £25 million for Jesus yet again. Forward-thinking club, and then us 29-year-old player who has had 2 ACL injuries in 3 years. Typical Everton and Moyes.

2

05 Jun 2026 10:07:02
I have seen that the 19 year old is a winger, but his parents are his agent and want them to sign his 21 year old brother, who is a striker, so the family aren't separated, so it could scupper the deal. If it does go through, I bet Brentford don't put a £43 million pound 19 year old winger on the bench all season either.

Take it all with a pinch of salt until deals are done, mate.

Yep, 10 days till lift off, looking forward to it.
