Cheers Ed, sorry I kind of meant is there anyone out there who you think would fit what we are looking for who is out of contract?

I heard that Sarr from Nice was now a free agent CB that we need, I am presuming there is plenty of interest though.

Last year I think we should have gone in for Cahill before his move to palace as a replacement for Jags and just wondered if there is anyone out there from abroad who could do a job,

Yorkieblue

{Ed002's Note - Sarr will be heading elsewhere I am afraid. Garay and Ayala are available as CBs who are free agents.}

1.) 27 Aug 2020 12:47:02
I’ve seen that Sarr is going to Chelsea.

Ed are there any decent free transfers out there that we may look at bringing in either short term or for the future?

Yorkieblue

{Ed002's Note - The club should not be grabbing player simply because they are out of contract - they need to be looking for players who can fit in and deliver.}

1.) 27 Aug 2020 09:34:44
We where linked with Zivkovic from benfica last season they wanted £30 mill and now apparently he's available as a free agent do you thing he’s some one were still interested in?

2.) 27 Aug 2020 10:23:07
Benfica have released him from his contract. Why would they do that? Injuries? Bad attitude? Smells fishy.

3.) 27 Aug 2020 08:35:39
Do you not fancy a job at Everton ed.

Delph good signing for me

Not a replacement for Gana but a solid midfielder that will add competition for places, box to box plenty of energy and quick to read the game

Personally I think that spells the end for

Morgan sniderlain
Besic (has pretty much gone)
McCarthy

But still leaves us with

Gomes
Davies
Gana
Delph
Siggy.

Gana is going to leave mate heads been turned.

What a mess!

Just my view but I think Moshri got burnt by Steve Walsh first time around as DOF and the knock on effect was brands never been given the tools to do the job.

He will end up somewhere like Newcastle where he will be able to remodel a football club from top to bottom and he will do very well.

Only Everton could get it so wrong on every level.

Anyone remember Aston Villa before they got relegated last time around players like Lescott, Richard’s, nzogbia etc. championship players there for the cash not the club.

That my friends is right where we are. We will do very well to get out of this but the direction long term even if we do is a worry.

Yorkieblue

1.) 06 Dec 2021 14:26:17
Yorkieblue like Ed0666 I was sure we would not get relegated but Teams are picking up points and pulling away while we are dropping. I was all for Rafa but he doesn't seem able to motivate. The only two players missing are Mina and DCL if they return tomorrow it is not a guarantee we will suddenly transform into a winning team. My question is how long do we stick with a losing manager.

2.) 06 Dec 2021 16:18:58
There is also a strong argument that we have not managed the strength and depth of the squad in the last 3 and half years.

3.) 06 Dec 2021 16:34:19
DFS, it might not happen too quickly when those two players are back but we are certainly a stronger team with them in. I think we have won 54% of the games that Mina has played in so he must be a bit of a calming influence on the others at the back! We have definitely missed DCL's goals as well. Hopefully, they can make a difference when they get back to fitness.

Morning Ed’s fellow blues,

Ed’s I was wondering how the compensation for a player under 18 is calculated?

1.5mil for T. Small doesn’t seem a lot for a player training with the first team and playing for our u23’s.

What sort of figure would you expect?

Thanks in advance.

Yorkieblue

{Ed002's Note - I suspect it is simply the first offer from Southampton and they would be happy to pay a little more. If it goes to tribunal it could end up being a similar amount or even less due to his age.}

1.) 06 Sep 2021 11:06:24
Will be interesting to see what we get for him, I’m not convinced it’ll be anywhere near the £5m that’s being bandied about.

Think the £1.5m is a fair offer for him.

Whilst he did train with the first team he wasn’t a regular player. He did play for the under 23s but generally under 23s who aren’t part of the first team set up rarely go for large fees.

He also wasn’t solely with us as we picked him up on a free from West Brom youth in 2016 so can Everton claim they fully developed him?

2.) 06 Sep 2021 11:32:24
Cheers Ed, makes you wonder at that price why more clubs aren’t doing similar.

Always amazes me when you see clubs regularly picking up bargains and seemingly they are the only people in for them.

Just one more thing Ed, how long would you expect Everton to be operating like we have been this summer.
Will it be sorted this year or is this the more long term reality?

{Ed002's Note - Everton have two FFP issues to resolves. Getting James off the books will help a great deal. They then need to build a sustainable model with input from the owners bein below the FFP threshhold.}

3.) 06 Sep 2021 12:13:40
Are FFP rules here to stay as they are or will they be changed slightly in the future, as they seem to be unfair in my opinion, but what do I know.

4.) 06 Sep 2021 16:22:21
Yeah I agree Ginger, it does annoy me that we have seemingly let him slip through our fingers especially when he would be back up to LD now we have loaned out Our other left back.

I honestly think we have lost our way with youth a little over the seasons. Last player through who players is TD and that’s only a bit part role. I know it’s a numbers game and you have to be good enough but I think you sometime have to be brave with youth and give them the chance to sink or swim.

Look at Trent Arnold he got in because of injury given a run of games alongside training with the first team and improved, same could be said about Greenwood, Saka, Smith Rowe etc.

I’m not saying we have players like that but we never seem to be brave enough to give them a go and stick with them.

Dowell
Gordon
Small
Simms

All players that have either left or are still with us that have been highly spoken about and not given chance.

Fingers crossed that will change.

5.) 06 Sep 2021 12:43:25
ed 002 is there any truth that istanbul basaksehir have enquired for a loan deal for james with option to buy thanks for reply.

{Ed002's Note - He is being hawked around Turkey by his agent so it is possible.}

6.) 06 Sep 2021 16:10:53
Cheers Ed 👍.

7.) 06 Sep 2021 19:17:26
Didn’t think there was that much money in the Turkish league.
I’d imagine if he did go we’d end up paying 50% or more of his current wages.
Sure we had an issue when we loaned Tosun to a Turkish team and we were picking up a portion of his wages and he’s on nowhere near as much as Rodriguez.

Then again paying 50% or whatever it will be would be better than paying 100% if he’s definitely not part of Rafas plans going forward.

{Ed002's Note - Wages in Turkey are very good.}

8.) 06 Sep 2021 20:40:38
Whilst I understand this from the club's point of view, I find it bewildering from James'viewpoint. As far as I am concerned there's only China and MLS lower on the football totem pole. The guy can play. I cannot work out how he would be worse off getting fit and giving Rafa a conundrum to solve. Even if that doesn't work, a fit James is going attract a lot better than the Turkish league.

9.) 06 Sep 2021 22:23:21
Apologies Ed. I’d read an article about wages in the league last season and that had said the highest player in the Turkish league was Radamel Falcoa who was on €123k per week.
Apparently Danny drinkwater was on €124k per week but a large portion of that was from Chelsea.

Good to hear there’s decent wages in the league but still think we’d have to contribute a proportion of any wages for Rodriguez if it’s a loan.

Personally hoping him and Rafa sort the issues out and we see him contribute to the team and help with a push to win a cup or try and qualify for European football this season -.

10.) 07 Sep 2021 13:04:00
He’s achieved plenty in his career and now seems more concerned with topping up his tan. I doubt we’ll see him in a blue shirt again.

Morning Blues / Ed’s

Ed02 - ED25 - can you clear something up for me please.

With Everton everything plays out as a soap opera and generally from the outside looking in we look like a badly run dinosaur of a club is this the case are we actually in need of massive reform?

We have appointed various high level people but it’s the same story year after year. I’m referring more about the back end of the club not the playing side which is another level entirely.

Why don’t we just let brands get on with it?

Why do we dither about with transfers
allowing other teams to jump in fro to of us or at least pump the price up?

I think most people on here would look at Leicester with envy, good recruitment, decent manager, and a club with a clear plan.

They are reported to be picking up two young decent french players for 18mil each, you can bet your life if that was us it would be 30mil each.

Surely it can’t be hard to copy and paste that model of how to run a club?

Yorkieblue

{Ed025's Note - we have been transfer ditherers for as long as i can remember yorkie, why i dont know but your spot on mate, sky are always at finch farm on the last day of the transfer windows because they know thats when we do all our business, its something that needs to change if we want to be taken seriously and you make a very good point mate..

1.) 09 Jun 2021 19:55:00
Ironically we took their former head scout who was credited with building their title winning side and we’ll still be dealing with the fallout for another couple of years.

02 Jun 2021 20:33:46
Not sure about anyone else but my wish list for our new manager is someone who will do the following,

1, get the players fit

2, stop playing players who aren’t performing

3, play with some intensity

4, not play 2 DM against a team already relegated and get beat

5, not accept this lazy and frankly weak and crap mentality that has been allow to spread like wild fire since Martinez was in charge

6, buy players who have something to prove not here for there last pay day

7, have some bottle to actually go after teams

Honestly feel like the majority of the above is standard stuff at other clubs but we seem to get it wrong every time!

After 24 hours thinking about I think we are better off without CA but we have to get the next one right.

Yorkieblue

1.) 02 Jun 2021 20:46:47
Good post Yorkie.

2.) 02 Jun 2021 20:54:54
Not really asking for much there! We do need big changes, the big team soirit we always had, has well gone.

3.) 02 Jun 2021 21:17:13
I seem to remember we said that after Koeman Yorkie. Get the next one right, and we didn't. Given where we finished, given what we have, some of the names being mentioned are dreamland, or will see us as a cash cow.

01 Jun 2021 20:29:00
Not really sure what to make of today, Carlo gone didn’t see that coming. His defensive tactics seemed a little outdated for the Prem at times but I guess he was working with what he had. Still a world class name that would of help bring in a better standard of player over time.

Who should replace him?

The issues we have had over the last 6 years stem from buying players for the different managers and then trying to fit square pegs in round holes this creates all sorts of issues including spending money on multiple players to play in the same position LW been a prime example

Personally I would put the emphasis on Brands to start building a team to play in a certain way and then bringing the Coach/ Manager in to fit that that way it isn’t complete overhaul every time.

We need stability and a directing/ philosophy other wise we will continue to drift all without competing.

Agreed that brands needs to pull his finger out but part of the problem is the constant change in manager,

We will continue in this cycle while we keep changing out style of play to fit the manager all our signings are reactive without any real plan In place.

Chelsea are a prime example of a club who by players for a system and the manager has to work with what he is given. I know they are on a different level but they have an identity and they stick to it.

Makes life miles easier. Leicester are another club and now Villa are going down the same route but players to fit the club not the manager

We are in danger in my opinion of being left miles behind.

Apparently our fitness coaching last season was pretty much non existent and that’s coming from an U23 player training with the first team.

He also said it was pretty basic training nothing revolutionary and it didn’t really engage the players, CA gave individuals a lot of time and encouragement but didn’t focus on the team that much.

Should have probably probed a little more on the last bit but doesn’t sound like the type of training a premier league team should be doing when we are short on quality in certain areas.

Interesting Rafa seems like the polar opposite which can only be a good thing. Need more out of this squad none of them are going to become world class over night but all can give and extra 20/ 30 %.

No - we need to build a team an philosophy that a manager/ coach fits with that way we don't start at ground zero every time there is a change. Need to leave brands to build something not keep releasing players for free which have cost millions.

Bolasie and Walcott cost over 50mill between then with wages and agents fees and we have got zero back.

It's not sustainable and we look vulnerable at the minute to ffp and also what happens if the money gets pulled like it did at villa all those years ago.

If you think about it the two stories are not a million miles apart spend to chase the dream and be left with a squad of over paid players with little to no sell on value.

That's my view but everyone mentioned is a short terms rip it up and start again manager which is exactly what we don't need.
