Riquelme spotted getting into a red car at JL airport. Looks like them next door beat us to him.
02 May 2024 05:40:44
Apparently this is in the DAILY EXPRESS
Chelsea have reportedly registered an interest in Jordan Pickford as they look to pounce on Everton's potential takeover chaos.
It begins.
1.) 02 May 2024 07:45:11
Yeah read that as well mate, would sell him and Onana before Branthwaite to balance the books.
2.) 02 May 2024 07:49:07
Chelsea need to raise a chunk of cash before June 30th too, can’t see them buying Pickford before then.
3.) 02 May 2024 10:27:22
Madness that some fans would see him go - he is one of the main reasons we’ve stayed in the league for so long.
Decent keepers are hard to come by and we’ve got one of the best in the league who has earned us several points with his vital saves yet fans happy for him to go - madness.
We all want Branthwaite to stay but if it’s between Pickford or him going then would have to say Branthwaite - he’s amazing and will only get better but will inevitably go, he also needs a decent centre half with him and if we get an injury to Tarkowski he’ll potentially struggle trying to support Keane or Godfrey beside him as well as playing his own game.
Branthwaite on his own won’t win us many points - however would argue Pickford would.
Dont want either to leave as think we should build a team around these types of players but years of mismanagement and ridiculous spending has put us in a position that prevents this.
4.) 02 May 2024 11:56:37
Unfortunately the financial return on Branthwaite having only paid £1m for him is what is needed if we are to get anywhere close to further FFP points deductions next season.
I can see Onana, Branthwaite and Pickford leaving, as well as DCL as we are in a mess financially and those out of contract or with 1 year remaining, have very little worth.
5.) 02 May 2024 13:35:06
Not sure it’s a case of wanting him to go. It’s needs must.
6.) 02 May 2024 13:55:43
Agree that Chelsea are unlikely to be buying him, seems to be in the same boat as us still being linked with spending when we have no cash.
Obviously we would struggle to replace Pickford and Branthwaite would probably bring in double the amount. We probably need to sell everyone and their pets to break the downward spiral, I just don't see a team willing to spend on Pickford. He's too good for a relegation fight but he's not a champions league quality.
7.) 02 May 2024 14:34:17
He's absolutely CL quality. Baffling opinion absolutely baffling.
8.) 02 May 2024 15:05:37
Not champions league quality? He’s currently sitting second in the golden glove race having kept 12 clean sheets this season.
He’s ahead of Ederson, Onana and Becker all keepers who are or have recently been playing champions league football. All players who are playing in better teams than us.
Unbelievable the lack of acknowledgment Pickford gets.
9.) 02 May 2024 15:06:25
I’ve liked what little I have seen of Virginia and would be happy with him stepping up if required.
10.) 02 May 2024 16:03:47
He’s also England’s number one and had been for some time. As well as being quality, he’s a commercial asset to a big club.
11.) 02 May 2024 17:39:17
I posted about this the other day. I think Pickford is still tarred with the same brush from a few years ago. His maturity and consistency is night and day to then and the mistakes he makes are once every blue moon.
He is still a good age. He is 2 clean sheets off the golden glove and when you take into account the fact he is in a far worse team than Raya, it is testament to the season Pickford has had.
According to PL stats, Raya has faced 41 shots this season with 3 errors leading to goals. Compare that to Pickfords 112 shots faced and 1 error leading to a goal. Allison, arguably considered the best keeper in the league has faced 75 shots this season with 2 errors leading to goals.
To say Pickford isn't CL quality when he is putting up these comparable numbers and is also playing in major national tournament finals and semi finals is a bit silly imo. Put him in a City, Liverpool, Real Madrid and the picture would be very different.
He is under contract until 2027. If a team wants him then we shouldn't be looking at anything below £50 million.
12.) 03 May 2024 09:20:58
If Pickford goes Vagina would not have to let many in!
28 Jul 2019 20:38:30
Stones return! Just a rumour I've heard. He has a mistake or 12 in him but so do most defenders. Worth a shout?
1.) 28 Jul 2019 21:21:35
Very much doubt it.
2.) 28 Jul 2019 22:10:48
If he has a mistake or 12 in him I think he did most of those 12 while playing for us before 🤣🤣.
3.) 28 Jul 2019 22:20:52
City won't leave themselves without a centre half.
4.) 28 Jul 2019 23:01:21
They’re a bit short in that department themselves. Don’t think the lad did himself too many favours before he left anyway.
5.) 29 Jul 2019 07:54:14
Not improved at all since leaving us. Still makes mistakes that were mitigated with his young age. He’s not a kid anymore but still makes mistakes. We got a cracking deal selling for 50 million. I wouldn’t have him back.
6.) 29 Jul 2019 10:16:35
Be very surprised if City would let a home grown player leave.
7.) 29 Jul 2019 11:09:10
Think if any truth will see city push for maguire.
8.) 29 Jul 2019 13:43:17
take stones back in a heartbeat, better than anything we've got at the minute so why not?
9.) 29 Jul 2019 18:22:48
I don’t agree wblue, but I suppose the best way to put it (as it’s about opinions and preferences) is if you had the 50 million we got from selling stones, would you buy him back or use it to buy Zouma? It’s Zouma for me.
10.) 29 Jul 2019 19:17:48
I would take Zouma over stones, but if you couldn't have zouma I would definitely take stones back, better than Holgate and based on last season mina too, I'm expecting far better things this year though from mina.
11.) 31 Jul 2019 16:48:41
better than keane aswel nilsatis.
27 Jun 2013 17:27:20
Sorry to say that the bid for Baines seems genuine. Best we can hope for is Blue Bill holding out for 15 mill and ploughing the money straight into buying new players. Fellaini next
1.) If they let him go this will be a signal for all other half decent players wanting to leave and we will be worse than wigan. a selling club only. before that happens I will refuse to ever enter goodison again while that liar is at the helm of our club
2.) Blue bill has sold us down river again, baines is gone we are hust pushing price up {Ed025's Note - what part of not for sale dont you understand?..
3.) Even if we agree to sell him who says he will want to go I think he likes it at us and the grass isn't always greener ask pienarr and jeffers
4.) See you later baines an fellani. kone an konchesky coming in. kenwright will put most of the money in his bank! {Ed025's Note - sigh..
5.) I'm sure Bill knows what will happen to his pets if he tries to sell Baines, but he's talking Champions League and even Bill knows we can't do it without Baines. Though in the end it will come down to what Leighton wants to do. He's already said he's looking forward to playing under Martinez in August. I think (hope massively) he'll stay.
6.) Everton fans are the most pessimistic in the country, they turned the bid down, all the bill kenwright hatere would do well to remember the peter Johnson days, they weren't that long ago you know, and no player is irreplaceable, Arteta went, we haven't missed him, lescott went and we actually got a better player for a quarter of the money city paid us for him, I like Baines a lot and personally think he will need to be pushed out of the door, and I just don't see it happening, Fellaini on the other hand will go, and will be easily replaced, Moyes destroyed Jelaviv last season by insisting on playing felli up front, he slow all our play down.
7.) Kopites are flooding the site again.
8.) Not a kopite by the way, just telling it like it is, evertonians moan about us having no money, but plenty of them are willing to bunk in on match days, they constantly moan about kenwright and the board when it's plain and simple we don't have the kind of fanbase to generate enough money to compete for the top players who can win trophys year in year out, so we try to do it another way, we are a shining example in the money mad era, look at some of the teams who've invested heavily, Sunderland, Newcastle, Villa etc, they spent big and found out pretty quicky it does not guarantee anything, there were people on here last year when Adam Johnson signed for Sunderland moaning that we'd missed out, the only reason anyone thought he was any good was because Man city bought him because he was over hyped to death, bombs at city, goes to sunderland for 10 mill and is average there aswell!

At least JB will get a good rest. Can't believe he hasn't been picked and how has Shaw got in the Squad. Beggers belief.
1.) 06 Jun 2024 19:39:05
Shocking decision but think the writing was on the wall in his last call up, he didn't even get a run out, then just 15 mins earlier this week . Clearly not in the plans of Southgate this time around! Just don't understand it!
2.) 06 Jun 2024 20:29:50
"I think it's a bit early for Jarrad. He's had a fabulous season and it was good to get him on the pitch on Monday. Of course ideally we'd have had a left-footed centre-back but I don't think it would have been the right call. "
You have a left-footed cb, who has been the best English centre half of the season in the hardest league in the world, so what then makes you think that he isn't ready to play Slovenia, Serbia and Denmark you twit. Worse still, you pick Mainoo and Wharton. I don't have any issues with that and think they should both go but at least be consistent in your reasoning.
He goes on more
"Some of the young players have done brilliantly to push experienced players out of the squad. They've been playing extremely well in the league and we saw some performances on Monday that underlined that. We've got 11 players who have been to three tournaments or more, with younger players who are playing so well we can't afford to ignore them. That's already brought a hunger, a competitiveness. The group have got to work together, they've got to realise that when we pick teams the subs will be key to us doing well in each match. We need to create those bonds. "
Maybe if you'd have given him more than 30 minutes, he could have pushed the likes of Dunk, who has zero England tournament experience out of the squad. Jarrad has been playing extremely well in the league as well but yet you have overlooked him you gigantic melt.
3.) 06 Jun 2024 21:21:15
Makes no sense to take Dunk over Branthwaite - surely he should be developing a squad for future tournaments not just this one.
To take Dunk who is unlikely to feature much at the Euros and will be 34 when the World Cup comes round is crazy.
This would have been the ideal time to take Branthwaite to get exposure to this type of set up so in 2yrs he’ll be more than ready for the World Cup.
Southgate is the reason that this squad of excellent players will never win anything as he’s too risk averse and sticks with what and who he knows rather then picking on form.
Disappointed for Jarrad as he’s been far better than the other centrebacks Southgate has decided to take.
4.) 06 Jun 2024 22:58:06
If he played in the reds either mancs Chelsea or arsenal he’s on that plane without a doubt
Southgate Isis clueless.
05 Jan 2020 17:47:09
Walcott did OK today but we deserve to loose. If we can't be at least a couple of goals up at half time playing kids then we don't deserve to win. A lot of hard work ahead for CA.
23 Nov 2019 20:58:22
OK. We won't attract a big name manager if/ when Silva goes but I think Phil Neville is a possibility. I'd give him a chance. Can't do any worse than the last few.
1.) 23 Nov 2019 22:05:18
Tim Cahill as assistant would be interesting.
2.) 23 Nov 2019 22:24:07
Each to own opinion, but how about trying to go b@lls out for a manager whos actually won something as a manager. Personally, i think that today was a real low point (given expenditure over last 3-4 yrs) , and i don't think i trust the board to seek the right advice. mr moshiri and board need to seek different advice and look for a winning manager. not another 'potential' class manager. moyes arteta, neville. its just history repeating itself imo.
3.) 23 Nov 2019 22:42:18
Genuine question, what is the fascination with appointing a former player as a manager (especially ones with minimal or no management experience) ?
4.) 23 Nov 2019 23:06:35
Because of Kendall Ctoffee. Many associate the 2 with our last successful period.
5.) 24 Nov 2019 12:49:42
If you now your history.
Catterick 2 x titles, FA Cup, 2 x Charity shields, Kendall 2 x titles, FA Cup, Cup Winners Cup, 3 x Charity shields, Harvey Charity Shield, Royle FA Cup and Charity Shield. ALL ex players. NOTHING won since. Anything before was in the 30's.
I would love Arteta but I think he will wait for Pep to go and City would be mad not to go for him.
6.) 24 Nov 2019 13:48:29
Fair enough, but I don’t think that means we’ll only find success with former players as managers. Think football has moved on from those days and banking on winning something just because we have the Yak (or whoever else) in as manager is bizarre.
7.) 24 Nov 2019 16:07:17
Just as bizarre that a Silva team cannot win after going behind that has got to be about style of play and getting commitment out of players.
At least a former player knows what commitment and passion is. Silva obviously wouldn't if it slapped him in the face.
16 Dec 2018 17:39:18
Think United might be in need of Big Sam!
1.) 16 Dec 2018 18:42:42
Nothing to do with us.
{Ed0333's Note - would be the most wonderful thing that’s ever happened in life if Sam allardyce became United manager.
17 Oct 2015 13:45:17
Not rumour or banter but just wanted to say farewell to our greatest manager and one of the Holy Trinity. RIP Howard Kendall. Nil Satis Nisi Optimum.
Terrible fan you say. Nope. Just realistic. You should try it sometime
