I think the board are waiting to see how we do against Southampton seeing as they are the whipping boys of the league so far. We lose that and FL is gone I think!

1.) 06 Jan 2023 00:13:17
That makes more sense. The Man u fa cup game is a free hit. Unless we get completely humiliated by a 2nd string then the axe is definitely on ice until the next league match. I would love for the club to stick by someone for a change and for that support to be catalyst for a marked improvement in the squad and table. Though I've made rumbles about a change needed, perhaps that was just the bitter taste of match day? Fed up of being the butt of all football fans jokes. Arteta has proven that with a clubs support and time through tricky waters, it pays off. There is a stadium loving him when even last season perhaps 50% were calling for his head.

2.) 06 Jan 2023 11:20:52
I thought we were the whipping boys right now.

3.) 06 Jan 2023 13:24:11
We have our bogey teams in Premier league and Southampton is one of them. As are arsenal, Aston villa, Brentford, Chelsea, Palace, Fulham, man city/ utd, Liverpool, wolves, forest, barcode, spurs etc.

{Ed025's Note - very true mate.. :)

4.) 06 Jan 2023 11:32:04
Are next two league games have to be 6 pointers. I only see 1. After that the next two are Arsenal and Liverpool. I see none. Following that Leeds and Villa which must be 6 points otherwise we will be in deep doo doo.

{Ed025's Note - NEWSFLASH!...we already are nick mate..

5.) 06 Jan 2023 17:35:14
No not yet ed. Another 4-5 games yet and then it's deep doo doo.

{Ed025's Note - have you seen the table nick?..

6.) 06 Jan 2023 18:12:20
Don't be so negative ed. Until the points start running out we are ok. I have faith we will stay up. Who with as manager I don't know.

{Ed025's Note - i would love to be positive nick but that would be lying, i ask myself are there 3 worse teams than us in the league?...i dont think so, blind faith is just as damaging as pessimism in my book mate..

7.) 06 Jan 2023 19:17:41
Told you, Bill is just waiting for the 'what a Manager' moment.

8.) 06 Jan 2023 19:45:54
Ed my doctor rang me at 6-50pm to ask how my neuralgia and confusion is now I'm on the new tablet. She also said "don't watch the game tonight"

{Ed025's Note - good advice I would say nick..

9.) 08 Jan 2023 10:41:42
I'm brought down to earth every 3 months Nick, when the consultant says right let's have another look 'wiggle your toes'.

{Ed001's Note - Ed25 only gets to see his toes once every 3 months when his missus sends him a photo of them, so you are lucky dfs.}

I think this all looks like smoke and mirrors to me that we are interested in all of these players, looks like we are still in the poo with regards FFP so we won't sign anybody cos we don't have the money and by doing that we will be back in the black at season end unless we are relegated of course. Dyche has been promised a big payday if he can keep us up this season. Intrigued to hear what the board come up with after this window shuts tonight?

1.) 31 Jan 2023 23:57:19
They’ll blame the fans and say they tried their hardest to get people over the line but the atmosphere is too toxic etc etc bla bla bla.

2.) 31 Jan 2023 23:58:13
FFP Chelsea managed it spreading the cost over 8 seasons, are mobey has gone on Championship grade footballers and the stadium. We must all show the world what real supporters can do getting behind the team. It’s are only hope tbh. I’m gutted by the past ten years or more it’s a disgrace.

15 Jan 2023 13:46:13
I think our board are too busy with looking good with EITC awards, other awards for one of the best businesses to work for etc etc rather than concentrating on getting our great club out of the mess that is currently in, it seems to me that they are not about the club at all as long as the recognition for them keeps coming in. I think Moshiri has been blind sided by BK and Co, they are still making him money but our football is suffering because of it. Every now and then they will drop some pittance into the pot for the football side to try and keep the fans onside but this is wearing thin, we are in trouble and it's time they earnt the massive wage they are all being paid, stand up for this great club and turn this rot around!

Spot on.

Our stats for Bournemouth game :-

Possession
64%
SHOTS
Total Shots 15
On Target 3
Off Target 6
Passes 535

We can all see where we are falling down, 3 shots on target?
Maupay is less than useless, Brighton must have been rubbing their hands together when we bought that crock for 15m.
If memory serves me right 2 of those were from Cannon and he was only on the field for about 15mins.
DCL has turned into a glass figurine, we need striking reinforcements in January, I still think FL is the man to take us places I hope the board back him in the market #COYB ?.

H8mail

1.) 13 Nov 2022 03:13:40
Our problem is creativity for me. We've got wingers that like to beat a man three times then pass it back or lose it rather than get it in the box. With better balls coming into the striker we give ourselves a better chance of scoring. Maupay has scored goals in this league before so let's give him the ammunition to do it for us. That said, another striker is needed as DCL has a few issues and can't be relied upon.
We've desperately got to get the next window right.

2.) 14 Nov 2022 15:59:33
I agree BP, the thing is I saw 2 things on Sat from Maupay that tells me he’s not the striker we need regardless of service.
1. I think it was Gray who got a good cross straight through the box, Maupay didn’t pre-empt that cross was coming in, he was about 5 yards behind it when it flashed in front of him.
2. Maupay got the ball on the edge of their box, turned to make a pass back (Of course) and was just eased off the ball by the Bournemouth lad with no effort whatsoever and no fight back.
Not good enough, u could put David Beckham in his prime whipping balls in that box and Maupay wouldn’t get on the end of any of em.
Tom Cannon had 10-15mins at the end of that game and was still more exciting and dangerous than Maupay had been all game!

23 Aug 2022 22:28:29
Anybody else thinking with Rondon playing the full 90 tonight with Brentford away around the corner and him being our only striker that we must have reinforcements coming in before next game. Surely he wouldn’t have risked him for the full 90 against Fleetwood without having a back up plan?

H8mail

1.) 23 Aug 2022 22:51:01
Frank likes him, Managers are like that and they will say they look at the bigger picture. All I can say is that Rondons picture must be so huge it is akin to where's Wally.

2.) 23 Aug 2022 23:16:13
He did ok, he’s not very good but he’s our only striker and needs game time. You cannot fault him for effort. He will start on Saturday, there’s no one in else, maybe just maybe we will have someone on the bench to bring on for the final 20mins….

3.) 23 Aug 2022 23:44:40
Rondon was knackered and sweating profusely after ten minutes. If Frank likes him we are doomed.

4.) 24 Aug 2022 06:09:38
I like Rondon. He never shirks, is honest, hard working and sadly past it.

5.) 24 Aug 2022 07:07:00
Yeah he’s just not fit enough but will be ok as a 2nd striker.

6.) 24 Aug 2022 07:48:54
I think Rondon gets a raw deal everyone knows he's no longer first choice striker everyone knows he hasn't got the legs for the prem yet he never stops trying and is fully committed every game so as a fanbase we say the least we expect is 110% committment and the fans will get behind that seems to be true unless your name is Rondon.

7.) 24 Aug 2022 07:56:52
i honestly think he is no where good enough watched the match last night even the wingers didn't want to cross the ball in the 6 yard box this forward issue needs to be addressed if its to sell gordon to get 1 or 2 then needs be this question needs to be put to fl and before anyone says yes i know we havnt got any other options but surly stanley mills or tom cannon woudnt do no harm as a short term solution how many games does rondon need he's had far to many he's not good enough.

{Ed025's Note - I’m with you Andy. He is just going through the motions for me and we need to replace him as a matter of urgency..

8.) 24 Aug 2022 09:03:30
Their are thirty odd thousand at our home games who could run around a lot and give 100%. And they would do it for nothing.

9.) 24 Aug 2022 09:09:25
we all see it as fans he's not good enough ed 025 he's had so many games to prove he can offer something and he offers absolutly nothing he looked knackered when getting taking off even mcniel and gray wasnt crossing the ball in the box for him so ed 025 with you knowing more info than us mate is fl holding out for broja or bats as bait with gordon going chelsea or has he got any forwards lined up from elsewhere with the sale from gordon if chelsea don't offer any of the 2 i mentioned.

{Ed025's Note - I don’t think broja is even in the conversation Andy. Yes Chelsea want Gordon but things can change mate and if they go for a Aubamayang that could scupper all the plans. It’s a waiting game I feel..

10.) 24 Aug 2022 09:19:07
1 goal in 22 games speaks for itself

Worse than every other striker in last 20 years if purrlyblooking at goals per games or goals per minute

Raw deal - nope

Gets paid more than DCL too.

11.) 24 Aug 2022 09:29:28
I don’t think it’s a question of fitness now, he simply doesn’t have the quality. I don’t even think he’s good enough to have an impact off the bench. We’d be better off playing Cannon or a false 9.

{Ed025's Note - or a set of false teeth.. ?

12.) 24 Aug 2022 11:57:55
spot on sobs i didn't even know that yeah would rather have a set off false teeth upfront in this moment of time if am honest.

13.) 24 Aug 2022 12:24:26
Hily-trinity your correct 30000 of us would give 100% and run around Goodison for free but if the club offered you 60k a week to do it would you say no I will do it for free the answer is no bud so your argument is void.

14.) 24 Aug 2022 11:57:55
spot on sobs i didn't even know that yeah would rather have a set off false teeth upfront in this moment of time if am honest.

15.) 24 Aug 2022 12:53:57
At a guess the Club has all their DCL eggs in one basket. I fear the gamble may well backfire.

16.) 24 Aug 2022 13:52:42
When you are a big piece of kit like Rondon receiving the ball with your back to goal why not turn into the defender! 9 out of 10 the space opens up. Watched him last night he flicks left or right so his first move is sideways. Coaches must be aware surely. The bloke gives it his all but nowhere near the Newcastle version.

17.) 24 Aug 2022 21:59:26
Not sure what the feck your talking about Lamps?

21 Aug 2022 14:42:20
Hi all, this is my first post, just registered. Just want to say that after watching yesterdays game I think Gordons head has been turned by Chelsea.

He was woeful at times yesterday giving the ball away, shying out of challenges. Really liked him last season when he broke through properly but I’m not sure if he can be the player that some think he can be, I get he’s still young and should develop, sometimes I see it and sometimes not.

I think if Chelsea come back with £50 mil or decent player swaps and cash we should do it, I think it can only strengthen our squad.
Oh and Frank is the man to get us back on track all fans calling for his head need a kick in the arse!

Bosh, first post done COYB!

H8mail

{Ed014's Note - welcome mate, enjoy the banter!

1.) 21 Aug 2022 14:49:53
Any fans calling for Frank's head are idiots bud you can see what he's trying to do and with a striker in we would have more than our 1 point.

2.) 21 Aug 2022 15:06:45
I agree LTM, I know Tarkers had a bit of a bad day at the office yesterday but u can certainly see from the first 2 games how much more solid our defence looks because of the players he has bought in and how less likely we are going to leak goals this season. I hope we can get a couple of strikers in by close of window and then we will really see how Lampard has transformed this team ??.

3.) 21 Aug 2022 15:15:01
We’ve made progress, we’re better than last year and we will be ok, we have to accept that it’ll take a few years to sort the mess out but we’re heading in the right direction, I hope people stick by Frank and the bird give him time.

4.) 21 Aug 2022 15:29:20
Brill first post you can see we’re playing some good
Football but without a striker our play struggles in transition from Def to Attk hence why we’re on 1pt so far! I say go all out for Ivan Toney because I don’t trust DCL to stay.

5.) 21 Aug 2022 17:50:28
To be fair Gordon stupidly got himself booked after 21m which meant he had to be careful when making challenges for the rest of his game.

6.) 21 Aug 2022 18:36:25
Yes he did SA and that would have made him think twice about putting in challenges but he just looked to me yesterday as if he was trying too hard, wanting to impress Chelsea maybe but it bit him on the arse because by doing that and not playing his natural game he looked woeful at times. I do think with Chelsea getting spammed today though another bid is coming, if they want him that bad then it needs to be on our terms!

7.) 21 Aug 2022 20:35:54
Agree H8mail.

8.) 21 Aug 2022 22:35:10
…or was he playing crap on purpose so that no more bids come in because he really doesn’t want to leave?.

9.) 21 Aug 2022 22:59:03
Swings and Roundabouts Brett ??.

10.) 22 Aug 2022 00:53:10
Good post h8mail. I agree with you on Gordon from what I watched he was rubbish yesterday. Don't think he's going onto be the next super star either. 50 million then absolutely cash in. Spot on about the lampard haters as well. Guy needs a crack at it.

I quite like Almiron, he is super quick which would compliment our front line, I know he’s not a 20+ goals a season man but he would def be a good addition.
I can’t see Newcastle letting him go or even him wanting to come not with the project they are trying to build there with their megabucks!

But surely that agent would need the say so of AG before discussing any kind of financial package?
That conversation would have already taken place and that lap of the pitch on Saturday was his goodbye. He’s definitely off I think but we need to be smart with those funds.
Che Adams is not for me, Southampton can keep him, I would take Maupay as a back up then I’d use that AG money to get Ivan Toney in, he looks like the type of striker we need!

H8mail

{Ed002's Note - The agent will know what will be acceptable. It is really not that complicated.}

I’m going to play devils advocate here peeps, let’s look at the goals we conceded, 1st - Patterson in 2 minds whether to go for the ball and in that split decision the guy has gone past him, no one coming over to make the cover and the guy walks into our area and puts the ball in, did Lampard coach him to do that?
2nd - Ball gets played into the box, Mikky completely loses his man, has no idea where he is, the guy takes full advantage cuts inside, nobody covering and he taps in for number 2, did Lampard coach him to defend like that?
3rd - How much time and space has this guy got in order to cut in and pick his spot, this time we have the cover, we got 2 guys on him, Tarky does some weird diving header thing and ends up on the floor for the guy to get the ball out of his feet and slot home for number 3, did Lampard coach Tarky to do that?
4th - We all know what happened with this one, massive lack of judgement from Gueye and the pass was hugely underhit, is this something that Lampard coaches during training sessions?
Answer to all of these questions is NO, these are crazy decisions that these players are making off their own backs during the game that has cost us massively tonight!
Lampard is not the problem.
DCL was utter garbage tonight, didn’t attack the ball enough, I want to see him bullying defenders and throwing his weight around and giving defenders something to think about and forcing them to make errors that we can capitalise on, saw none of that from him, except for Demi and Pickford the rest were utter sh! te tonight, just laid down and let Brighton walk through them.
I don’t know what the answer is but I think the starting point is that these players need to give it all for our great club otherwise we are staring down the barrel of relegation this season and that’s not good!

He doesn't get a free pass CB, it was an absolute howler granted, it looked easier to catch the ball rather than to do what he did?
The thing is that he is still a great keeper and we wouldn’t have racked up half of the points we have got if it wasn’t for him, he’s kept us in games this season, more times than the 5 (I don’t recall these by the way) mistakes you say he has made.

I thought it looked dodgy when I saw it too. U can say great CF play but he was definitely looking for it, for me he ran into Pickford rather than Pickford taking him out. That changed the whole game for me, I think we were just getting into our stride, that goal allowed spurs to play with more freedom and from that moment on we were backs to the walls. I’d have taken a 0 0 at the start and I think that would have been the score had the pen not been given, I think that pen decision could have gone either way and had it of been waved away I’d be intrigued to see if VAR would have given it or just gone with the on field refs decision?
