At some point, the premier league must show some integrity, step in, and call a Holt to the 777 groups nonsense.
Please, they only have to look across the chanal, to see the mess they have landed Standard league in, enough is enough, this has to stop, if ever there was a case for a government regulator this shouley proves it.

The case for an independent regulator has been there for years. Brown envelopes abound at every level.

What I'm saying Mocker we don't need all of BlueNoses list but say the two forwards from Luton maybe a couple of others and start our team again also using some of our youth as well with the three or four regulars we kept from this season, can't be any worse than this one mate.

08 May 2024 17:39:58
And what am saying GB is where is the money coming from?

You mention the 2 lads at Luton, 1st would they come to us and 2nd where is the £40-50million we would need to obtain not just the money but the scope on our balance sheets and PSR. Luton will want and will get decent money for them.

Not sure how much of a transfer budget we will have GB but it's going to be minimal that's for certain.

As BlueNose has shown there are players out there that we can go for and not at extortionate prices, we have to start anew with some of those players and then progress, good post BlueNose.

Agree GB and, there are also managers who will nurture them and get the best out of them making them better. We need to look at the younger type players who are affordable. We are way way off buying expensive ones.

Agree0 0Disagree

08 May 2024 15:25:45
What do you 2 actually regard as young and upcoming players? Bit confused TBH.

The list is made up of players that will be looking at 1 final payday, in their prime or unobtainable in terms of our spend IE contracts, I mean Modric, the guys 38, 1 of the world's highest paid players and stated he wants to finish his career in MLS not to mention playing in a CL semi final tonight.

Agree1 0Disagree

08 May 2024 15:27:20
I think - barring the disasters off the pitch - this is the transfer window when we can finally sort our wage issue out. We have circa £20m in contracts expiring, and should be able to raise a significant profit on Branthwaite even if it pains me to let him go.

If Onana and possibly DCL can be offloaded as well that should then also give us a little room to bring in fresh talent. The big question then is can we be smart for once when bringing that talent in.

Presumably we are still facing a PTS deductions for the 2023/ 24 season, but hopefully that will be our last.

Agree0 0Disagree

08 May 2024 15:49:41
For sure Nick, but you know what we can use this to our advantage, as BlueNose stated there are several players who would be available for small sums, we need to revamp our Team of that there is no doubt, so sell two or three and with some of our under 21 Team start anew one, there will be some cash available, let’s start from scratch and face it we can’t be in much worse a position than we are now, let’s go for it,

Agree1 0Disagree

08 May 2024 16:33:37
Mocker, just to be clear, including Modric was 100% in jest. Hence the Young comment that followed. I am under no illusions that he is out of our reach, even at 38.

That being said, he would still absolutely boss the PL, which is absolute madness and as you say he is playing in a CL semi tonight. The way he gets overlooked in the mention for best midfielders of all time is criminal.

What more can Richard Masters do to bring down Everton football club?
Two lots of disproportionate points deduction, dispuit that forces us to sell our most talented player, (at what amounts to fire-sale prices) now it seems we get another points deduction, or, once again, sell our top talent to stave off a 3rd ffp charge, and for good measure, holds off telling 777 they are unsuitable owner, and the longer this lingers on we go further into debt, with the possibility of administration, and another 9 points deduction.

West ham parting with Moyes has got me thinking about expectations and the vast disparities in squad depth and quality between the top of the table and the bottom.
I was thinking about SD and how there have been calls for him to be sacked throughout the season. And hey I get it to a degree, waiting til April for the first league when of 2024, was brutal.
Looking back over the fixtures for that period, and it was a really tricky schedule. City and Spurs twice each, Villa, Palace twice to name a few, but what stuck was how long the run went on regardless.
I think there is a section of fans, many of whom are Dyche out, that can’t accept the reality of our situation. Let’s look at the quality of squads in the league, player for player where do we really think we rank? I’d put, Sheffield, Burnley, and Luton well below us. I think beyond that, we probably just edge Forest, maybe Brentford? But even those sides have star quality in the likes of Gibbs-White, Elanga, Toney, Mbeumo, and this seems true as we continue up the table. We really don’t have that flair kind of player that can take a game and win it with a moment, unlike many other similar strength squads after you get beyond the bottom 3.
I’d have our squad as 16th on paper, player for player. So what should that say about our expectations of a manager at the club? Undoubtedly, I think we all believe EFC should be way above this position in reality (we all want to get back to fighting for Europe) , but there is only so much a manager can do when he has one of the weakest squads in the league. I think we can sometimes conflate our historical expectations of EFC, with what our expectations of the present should and it’s easy to pin that on the manager.
In todays game, how many places does a strong manager gain for his team? What’s reasonable? Take away our deductions and we’re on 45 pts in 13th with 2 to go. To me, that’s 3 places higher than where I’d rank our squad strength.
I think Dyche is the man that we have to attribute that to. He has this squad of players overachieving if you look at it this way. The man has had to sell his best players and not be able to properly replace them. As long as this remains the case, sacking Dyche and bringing in a new manager does not resolve the issue. We need to keep backing Dyche in my opinion, despite often not playing the prettiest football, and he will make mistakes like any manager, but he is doing well with the squad that our finances is affording him. He’s doing what he has to do to secure us in the league given the financial and points deduction circumstances.
What do you guys think it a reasonable expectation of Dyche going into next season if we presume the squad at best stays at the same overall strength?

As most are aware I am not a fan of 'pretty' football and also would debate what constitutes entertaining football. Often hear/ read "We pay good money to be entertained". I always played to give my best but ultimately to win, it is after all a competitive sport. Now if we had leagues based on most entertaining I could understand the disappointment. Dyche has (in the end) done well. The guy was a defender and his first thought has been to make us difficult to score against. My argument with him is his hesitancy and on the surface tactical naivety.
Never the less he has achieved what most of us would have thought not possible with (at the time) 3 games to go.

Agree1 0Disagree

08 May 2024 08:04:23
Tmh I agree, dyche has been left with a bag of dog turd of a squad, with out deductions we would be above Brighton , how anyone can say he's not done a fantastic job also under the pressures he's under as are the team, he is the right man for the job, we are in a worse position than when Moyes arrived many years ago and look where we ended up, dyche may not win anyone over with some of his play, but he got us over the finish line with games to spare and 8 points deducted, now you tell me who could under those restrictions could of done any better, no one that's who, we have the right man and people need to get behind him until he has money to splash and then is getting it wrong we need to be happy with what we have.

Good posts above we can hope that this present team gets dismantled and new come in, then give Sean a few seasons he has done well with some of the tripe he been left with, time to move on really looks like he will stay but that depends on new owners arriving if ever looking forward to this summer.

08 May 2024 15:15:04
GB I respect all your posts as others, but if we can't look beyond Dyche, we might as well be contempt with being a bottom half club for the foreseeable future. Sorry but Dyche is not the future. I worked in Burnley for 11 years and made friends with many claret fans. Not all were Dyche fans and many glad to see him go.

Problem is nick we are a bottom half team and will remain a bottom half team until the finances improve. There is no magic wand and no manager however young will turn us into a top half team without significant backing. Wether people like Dyche or not he's proven manager for what we need now.

I don't think it is at all likely but if were are tearing up the script and going for a young and progressive manager with modern ideas, I would look no further than the reliable and combative CM, Thiago Motta.

Great pedigree having played at Barcelona, Inter under Jose and PSG. He has won a couple of Champions Leagues, multiple league titles in different leagues and team of the season awards in La Liga and Ligue 1,

He then went into management at Genoa, taking over them when they were dead last and couldn't change their fortune.

Moved on and managed Spezia in Serie A, a team under a transfer ban and picked for relegation. After a difficult start, got things going and won manager of the month.

Moved onto Bologna, who whilst they aren't one of the main forces in Italy, have some better players to choose from than the previous e. g. Orsolini, Zirkzee, De Silvestri, Freuler, Ndoye, Saelemaekers and Ferguson. This enabled Motta to implement his style of play and has only seen them go from strength to strength.

He has now managed 73 games, W 34, D 23 and L 16. Goals F 102, Goals A 69, good +33. Not bad numbers at all.

He has since won manager of the month 4 times at one of the 'Italian minnows' and has a really interesting style of football, which is incredibly attacking but equally as aggressive and defensive when his teams do not have the ball.

I imagine he will be going to a top top club soon but if he is available, we should be going all out for him.

Agree3 0Disagree

07 May 2024 17:16:39
We have no chance of getting Motta BlueNose, he is as you rightly say doing exceptional well, but absolutely no chance he leaves CL football to come to us and his achievements ain't going unnoticed by the top top teams, only chance we would have of enticing is a lucrative contract and a warchest to build. None of which we have unfortunately nor a squad he could walk in and implement his ideas. Certainly be interesting seeing where he does end up tho.

07 May 2024 17:53:27
Definitely Mocker. It is a shame we weren't in the same position as 5 or so seasons ago and then he may have been within our reach.

I think he is going to be up there with the best managers around soon enough.

It is definitely the right type of coach we should be going in for when we are a normal stable club.

Any manager worth his salt wouldn't touch everton with a barge pole, because unfortunately we are a basketcase on the cúsp of financial ruin.

We should have been in for these types years ago, unfortunately we have to ride out the next few seasons in survival mode, hoping we will get on more stable ground and go from there. For now any attractive type is a pipe dream in my humble opinion.

Agree1 0Disagree

07 May 2024 19:03:12
Yep BlueNose and Scottish. Timing as a lot to do with it, we've missed/ messed our time. Bang on Scottish the next few seasons is very much about survival and wether we like it or not Dyche is the ideal manager to get us through this, ain't going to be pretty and am with you in the belief that a lot of people's opinions are pipe dreams but guess it beats the reality of our club.

Not sure how when or where or who but think the financial side will get sorted in a positive manner, wishful thinking and blind faith maybe but just have a feeling we will ride this out and someone will come in in a positive manner and get us on a even keel and move forward as a club.

I think/ know that we can come out the otherside of this IF we sort out our recruitment. For too long we haven't made profits on our players amd signed absolute dross for mega bucks.

I don't know what are scouting set up is but that is where I would invest some money into, because we don't seem to be aware of any other
markets offering value and quality.

Why we couldn't have signed Brightons recent recruits or Moyes's cheaper recruits at West Ham I don't know.

Getting depressed thinking about it, off to read some shipe about 777 to cheer me up.

There's not an awful lot of glimmers of hope around

We have Moshiri who might have come with the best intentions but took the worst advice he could, spent millions on poor players and agents and has given up on Everton and wants to get out with the best deal possible to him, with the total emphasis on him with no concern where it leaves us

We have the FA who will be criticised no matter what they do. Allow 777 to buy us and watch them asset strip us or ban them from buying and have us say they forced us into administration

We have a stadium near completion but it's costing far more than we can really afford with little or no hope of paying off the loan interest, let alone the capital

All we can hope for is a white knight riding to our rescue but I can't see them on the horizon but that's the only happy ending available to us

Moshiri won't help us
777 can't help us
The FA are helpless
The stadium will cost us.

WT realistically doesn't seem to exist with Moshiri, without evidence I admit but my suspicion is a certain Russian is still the prime mover. It just makes no sense that Moshiri is wedded so firmly into a 777 takeover.

My hopes. New owners with successful sporting background, financially stable, new DOF, manager, coaches, long term emphasis on youth development, slow 3-5 year climb up the table to regular top 6, exciting stylish play, full stadium a noisy fortress. My thoughts. Fekk all changes and doom and gloom ahead.

07 May 2024 13:30:11
I understand the worry over administration however I just don't see Moshiri allowing us to go this way, it just isn't in his best interest.

If the worst happens and we do go into administration, this is the season to take the hit as we will likely stay in the Prem as I don't see us losing against Shefield and can't see Luton winning, therefore 9 point deduction and we are still safe.

If administrators are called in then they will look to run the business as best they can meaning trying to sell ( not to 777) , however they will have to asset strip so there goes our best players and potentially our new stadium.

There is a long list of creditors, however key is that 777 are way down the list as HMRC, Transfer money owed and other football related payments have priority.

I just hope there is a white knight on a charger out there, however our best option is Moshiri doing what's right for the club, while saving himself from a massive financial hit.

ED The bloke is a qualified CA, he has been on some of Usmanovs best boards. That is my point, how is a supposed switched on bloke like him suckered into such an agreement. Methinks something smells and perhaps the Prem have sussed.

{Ed025's Note - he has no clue about football at all DFS, he sought answers from sharks who had no interest bar from feathering their own nests mate..
