Question for the Ed's, after signing Jarrod Branthwaite it has been quoted the centre half will be put into the u23 team, would this have an impact on Lewis Gibson's future or has any of the Ed's got any update on his contract that we are trying to get Gibson to sign.

bignev

{Ed002's Note - It is unrelated to Lewis Gibson. A couple of minor injuries, game time has dried up and without some sort of road map for his future, so the player has to consider options away from Everton. This may be a loan or sale which include old club Newcastle, Southampton, Ipswich, Brighton, Rangers and possibly Celtic. Feyenoord, Fortuna Dusseldorf, Hoffenheim and AZ Alkmaar all offer options a little further afield.}

Thanks Ed.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

2.) 14 Jan 2020 14:17:20
hopefully he signs a new deal and goes out on loan this month, if not fear could be back to newcastle on a free, he's good mates with the longstaff brothers and seeing them start regularly for their boyhood team may entice him.

1 point away from home all season, a fixture list I would have struggled to hand pick better myself And we are heading into free fall.

Make no mistake the Watford game is massive on Tuesday, lose this and I think he will be gone, how ironic if it's Watford that gets him the sack.

I still say when the Chinese league finishes end of November, Benetiz will be approached, if he hasn't been already, then it's a question of what we do until then.

I will finish by saying I fully expect Everton to win on Tuesday, we are at home, this is the game that is keeping Silva in a job, so I fully expect Silva to go all guns blazing for this game and put out the big guns, with very few changes in the team.

This game will give him some breathing space for now.

Over to you Marco.

1.) 27 Oct 2019 09:05:01
Get what your saying but what about the players? In my opinion he had a decent starting 11 yesterday but they couldn’t do it. Substitutes not great but as much as we’re all on silva back surely the players have to take some blame in all this mess?

2.) 27 Oct 2019 09:24:48
''1 point away from home all season, ''

BigNev, this away points thing has been my mantra for weeks now and the home and away matches (PL) are always going to be integral to each other, we went on the road, and btw I don't care to where neither, with a spring in our step and under those circumstances the players we have should come back with the bacon, ready for our next home game.
This is not happening under the present manager!

3.) 27 Oct 2019 12:46:15
The attitude of some players is really poor, I hate singling people out but Keane and Pickford have been disgraceful since their first game, neither have made any improvements, I think Mason/ Mina at the back, and I would give Lossl a few games. its time the other two to be dropped and let's see if they work hard to get recalled, judging by their career at us so far, they would never come back in. Silva too scared to drop poor players though, I just don't understand.

4.) 27 Oct 2019 14:08:44
i really would hope that an approach for a top manager with PROVEN experience is being sourced as we speak, rafa or jose for me, statement signing, give the players a kick up the arse and also the ability to attract big name players, just my opinion before i get shot down.

{Ed002's Note - statement to whom?

5.) 27 Oct 2019 21:04:37
Why should the Watford game keep him in the job, are we advocating papering the cracks. Simply not a Premiership Manager. This is like walking through mud laced with superglue.

6.) 27 Oct 2019 21:06:36
Benitez for me. Whether he would accept a DoF is the question.

7.) 27 Oct 2019 22:07:32
A really convincing win over Watford would I imagine be a 'lifeline' though only temporary, imo his failure to get a decent run of form this term has put his head irrevocably on the chopping block .

8.) 27 Oct 2019 22:25:08
If Benitez is against DoF, then I’d employ two of them just to make sure we don’t ever get him.

9.) 29 Oct 2019 10:17:36
If beating Watford tonight is a reason to keep Silva then are standards have sunk and we deserve to be relegated.

10.) 29 Oct 2019 11:32:18
''If beating Watford tonight is a reason to keep Silva ''

DC, It's the Trophy that holds it's draws in supermarkets not the 'World Cup' mate 🙄.

Last year we would have let Gaye leave for the first bid and panicked and brought Michy Bats in for the £35 Million.

I am liking the way we stood firm on Gaye and did not do any last minute twitching.

Managed to get a few out on loan as well.

With our season as good as over worth giving Tosun an extended run until the end of the season, draft Hornby into the squad and give him the odd game time.

Overall whether we finish 7th or 11 or lower, we can experiment and see if any stand up to the task.

Regroup in the Summer and take stock what needs to be done long term with incomings and out goings.

Players have 4 months to prove themselves, so although we are playing to finish as high as possible, these next 4 months will structure the future of our football club, those who want to stay and fight, and those that get found out and shipped off.

bignev

1.) 02 Feb 2019 07:36:58
Well said Bignev I actually think the Jan transfer window was a good one for us, we didn't panic buy we didn't lose any important players and our youth went on loan deals which will benefit us and them in the future. As you say 4 months now for the players to show themselves though I'm betting Brands already has knows who's going and has identified players roll on the summer.

2.) 02 Feb 2019 08:03:11
Good posts lads.

3.) 02 Feb 2019 09:29:27
Seems like a good idea to me Nev/ Lee.

4.) 02 Feb 2019 12:23:19
I do think DCL could have done with a loan to get more experience but once Niasse went it would leave us short.
Good posts above as January is not the time to do business unless desperate. Hopefully a few results for us over the next few weeks. What better way for Marco and the team to get over the Anfield game to beat them at Goodison.

5.) 02 Feb 2019 12:46:32
But we are Desperate? WTF, Edd this site is full of ostriches,

6.) 02 Feb 2019 13:03:50
Thank goodness there are only a couple of Doom slayers on here.

7.) 02 Feb 2019 17:09:58
We would just end up with more bolasie's, walcotts and Tosun's. can't just throw money at people when things are not going well. We have spent how much and we are crap. We need a smarter more calculated and progressive method. Not panic buying. The season is f****d. We can't rescue it.

8.) 02 Feb 2019 17:47:34
GuernseyBlue even you can not be happy with that today?

9.) 02 Feb 2019 18:44:35
Should have signed the Black Cat, was more movement in the Cat than that pile of rubbish today.

10.) 03 Feb 2019 23:45:49
Bit harsh to say he needs to get result against city to save his job but I do think he needs a performance and a sign that we have worked on defending set pieces but then Man City don’t really put ball into box that much from set plays.

25 Jan 2019 19:34:47
Let's hope we take the fa cup seriously and put out a strong squad for tomorrow.

One game at a time and if we get the win, all we need is a couple of kind draws to go our way.

Anyway first things first, let's get the job done tomorrow, no 6 changes please Silva.

20 Jan 2019 21:53:46
Looking like we will not be getting our striker this January, unless we offload some players.

Cannot see anyone paying for any of the players we want to offload.

Tosun will be wanted by Turkish teams but only on loan, cannot see anyone beating the door down to sign Schnids.

The only player I can see leaving is Gaye at the right price, then we need to fill his position.

We have dug ourselves into a hole by allowing players to go out on loan, even Cardiff saw through us and went for the loan option.

So unless we somehow manage to get a few sales by putting a more realistic price on our players, expect it to be a quiet January.

1.) 21 Jan 2019 10:54:05
Its been stated on numerous occasions the club will be doing very little if any business during the January window. I can't see the problem with that either we won't get relegated and won't finish in the top 4. The current squad is good enough for the time being in my opinion.

2.) 21 Jan 2019 11:17:32
The squad is good enough but they don't play as a team. In the real world some of them would get the sack on capability.

3.) 21 Jan 2019 12:38:28
More like dereliction of duty Pensarn. I agree also with sa90. It’s shaping to be a mid table season so why panick? Get the striker early in the summer window ready for a pre season then no more excuses.

4.) 21 Jan 2019 12:45:42
Hi toffee, I know if I put a shift in like some of them do, then I know I would have been up in front of the manager mate.

5.) 21 Jan 2019 13:30:50
Not sure how much a new striker would improve this team. We are not generating enough chances so even the best strikers would have a hard time. We started the season with some good attacking style play but even then we had games which were poor and this has now become the norm rather than the exception. It seems that Silva has plan A and when this does not work the players have no idea what to do resulting in mistakes, poor passing, low confidence and general malaise. The opposition now know how to play against us and if Silva can't find a plan B or C then it will only get worse regardless of whom plays. At the moment we are a a bunch of individual players and not a team.

{Ed025's Note - very much so mike..

6.) 21 Jan 2019 15:35:59
Certainly worth putting Hornby in the squad for the cup game.

7.) 21 Jan 2019 16:48:59
Hi Eds02, nice to see your quiet about my so called 5 game prediction. It only lasted 2 games. What's going wrong with us mate?

{Ed002's Note - The problem is the lopsided squad, the lack of RW, not playing Tosun and having Silva as a coach.~

8.) 21 Jan 2019 17:47:59
Not much down for us then Eds.

9.) 21 Jan 2019 19:12:36
Ed002. can't see Silva going until the end of the year, if then. Any ideas about who might be a suitable replacement given availability and the state we are in?

{Ed002's Note - The club are looking to up their profile and are taking advice - ironically from the guy who pushed the side toward Silva. Right now I am not aware of the club looking for someone new. Again, this is rather a self inflicted wound and has resulted in a lop-sided squad that needs work - there might be 10 or 12 players available to leave but that is a lot of work to undertake. If there is no trust in Tosun, a decent player, then a CF is needed - but they could have grabbed Sala at a reasonable price and decided not to.}

10.) 21 Jan 2019 21:09:42
Ed002 -are you not a fan of silva’s?

{Ed002's Note - Are yo? Would you not rather have the relative success of Martinez, Allardyce and Koeman as compared to Silva? A mistake from day one as I have explained.}

We have to beat West Ham on Wednesday and put out a strong team, manage that and a win against Brighton, before the International break, then we can go into the Goodison Derby with everything in our favour, these next 5 Days are huge. Come on Everton, for once give us Evertonians some hope.

bignev

1.) 29 Sep 2020 09:32:16
Seriously not bothered mate. All I (most of us) have wanted is to see Everton as we used to see them. With this Manager/ Coach/ Staff/ Team and backroom support, things finally appear to be coming together. Still parts of the jigsaw (quality/ depth) to interlock but this is at last looking like (my opinion) the transition Season we have all been predicting. There are going to be disappointments of course and a long long way to go before we are near say that other lot, have to give credit. Patience is the key. I actually believe no crowds are helping as well.

2.) 29 Sep 2020 09:48:43
Good post BCT I agree mate the changes for the better well and truly under way, the lack of spectators at the grounds are an interesting factor, the refs are pretty much free from the vociferous noises especially from partisan home fans however large egos abound still and of course incompetence at times. .

3.) 29 Sep 2020 10:03:18
Agree with BCT I just want to watch the old Everton, doing their best.

4.) 29 Sep 2020 11:54:42
Great post BCT, echo that sentiment, but also want the fans to be patient when things do go wrong, which as you said they will at some point.

5.) 29 Sep 2020 13:50:57
i think we should put a strong team out against west ham chance of quarter final places and just my opinion i think trying to get a trophy is our objective this season and next surly.

6.) 29 Sep 2020 16:32:40
I can’t see this competition lasting long. Lots of other FAs have ditched their version I think. So I say go all out to win it. Before it’s gone.

7.) 29 Sep 2020 17:30:21
So you are not bothered about this competition bct

I am not sure of your age, I was 22 when Everton got to the final when it was called the Milk cup final, we lost after a replay, but all the players said getting to the final, gave belief in themselves and started started to believe they could compete, we went on to lift the fa cup that year.

Not one of those players wanted to be dropped for the cup games, by putting out our strongest team we got to three fa cup finals on the bounce and that Milk cup final.

Ok so top four finish now is even bigger, but back in those days, we dropped points in the league, you can claw points back, but you cannot claw a cup defeat back.

We need a trophy so how anyone can say they are not bothered is baffling.

8.) 29 Sep 2020 17:54:29
Following on from the above, the reason we have not won a trophy since 1995 is the same mentality, that cannot be bothered with the cups.

9.) 29 Sep 2020 19:58:49
4 games to silverware? Seems like a no brainer to go all out for it to me. Especially this round with 2 weeks off for international week to rest up. Keep the momentum up in the league until the free shot at Liverpool? But are we overlooking a plucky Brighton?
I say we will either start full strength and hope to sub 3 key performers with 30 mins to go and the tie wrapped up or go slightly weakened with the subs bench bristling with talent if we need to finish the game strongly. Either way the league Cup must be our immediate priority. Pressure off then if we are assured of 2nd round qualifiers for europa and the shot in the arm with a cup. I guess someone needs to call the locksmiths out as I bet we've long misplaced the key to our trophy cabinet.

10.) 29 Sep 2020 22:46:50
Here here toffee, people are forgetting Brighton are also playing Wednesday night and you can bet they will field a near full strength team against Utd, after being so unlucky against them last week.

18 Aug 2020 15:14:58
If we can get Allan and Doucouré, that will totally change our weak area in midfield.

I would be more than happy to let Davies go to Newcastle, should we manage to land the above two players.

We will never have a better chance of landing Doucouré and need to get the guy in, if Watford are prepared to do business., always rated the player, just hope we can get something done this time.

bignev

1.) 18 Aug 2020 18:52:32
Agreed mate, if we got them two in, all of a sudden we look more solid, i am always apprehensive when transfers involving us are taking place, however, I hope the noises around these two are true.

2.) 18 Aug 2020 21:57:47
Davies can play right back so for that reason I'd keep him in the squad.

3.) 18 Aug 2020 21:57:47
Davies can play right back so for that reason I'd keep him in the squad.

4.) 22 Aug 2020 10:24:51
Would rather keep Kenny who is a right back.

Ed033's note - Hi bignev, try going to our bets site again

bignev

18 Apr 2020 00:54:37
I know it goes against Brands age bracket, but anyhow probs will not happen, however Diego Costa is available on a free when the season finishes, any fellow Blues think it is worth a punt, wages are around £300,000 a week, but with no transfer fee, what about a punt.

bignev

1.) 18 Apr 2020 09:03:49
We are in a dire financial position. 300k a week is totally unrealistic for any player, but I think would be particularly crazy for an aging Costa who would most likely just see it as big payday like Schneiderlin, Walcott, Sigurdsson etc.

2.) 18 Apr 2020 12:03:44
What! A sneering, walking red card who thought it was funny to cough at reporters the other week?! I wouldn't want him anywhere near us!

3.) 18 Apr 2020 12:07:55
Crazy money dcl has started finding the net and we have some wonderkid apparently, I'd rather see moise given a chance as he is raw but could finally step up this season, unless we swap him for a 30 year old. Getting the ball past our slow sideways passing midfield is what we need, not more expensive luxuries.

4.) 18 Apr 2020 14:35:47
Apologies about my above post, Costas contract runs until 2021 and not 2020, but had already submitted my post.

5.) 18 Apr 2020 15:10:41
Even still he's not worth 150 a week never mind 300.

6.) 20 Apr 2020 10:40:59
I think that’s a no then bignev mate.

11 Apr 2020 01:24:30
There is talk of players out of contract in June approaching the fa to make it compulsory that their contract runs until the season ends.

Personally they have picked up a wage each week so cannot for the life of me see why clubs who want to release players should have to keep paying these players who have no future at the club, past their contract expiring.

Had they not been paid then fair enough, but they have been paid.

bignev

{Ed002's Note - It is not really like that.}

1.) 11 Apr 2020 10:28:01
I know, don't think we are ever going to get rid of Niasse.

2.) 11 Apr 2020 16:47:39
One of the PFA's top lawyers yesterday stated players whose contracts expire in June are under no obligation to remain at their clubs . If that's the case surely the clubs are under no obligation to keep unwanted players beyond June .

{Ed002's Note - It is up to the club and the player to decide whether or not to extend the contract on a month-by-month basis. Equally, there have been many transfers agreed already, and both clubs and the player will need to reach agreement in that case.}

3.) 12 Apr 2020 19:26:13
Maybe it is time for Niasse to start emptying his locker, if he has one now and get a taxi pre booked for a June.

Some of the older posters will remember the Everton team that came close to winning the league around the 74-75 season, then the one under Gordon Lee around 77.

Both very good sides but had Dia Davies and Dave Lawson in goal, average goalkeepers in two very good sides.

Came close to signing Peter Shilton, but ended up going for Lawson instead.

Now we have another very good team, but again with an average at best Goalkeeper in Pickford.

We need to learn from past mistakes and bring a goalkeeper in as a must.

A mistake now and again you can expect, but they are happening more and more with Pickford.

If anyone ever saw the Albert docks and surrounding area in the eighties can see what a brilliant job has been done around the arena, the Albert Dock, the echo arena, the radison high tower hotel, countless other buildings built with the area now thriving.

Bramley Moore is run down and an eyesore, regenerating that area will give the area an uplift, will create jobs, not just from the stadium, but other businesses that can build there.

If the world heritage would prefer it to remain rundown and an eyesore, I would tell the heritage to stick their status where the sun does not shine, the City needs a rebuild around there, more than they need a heritage tag.

Most of all, they need the economy and jobs after the Panademic.
