Question for the Ed's, after signing Jarrod Branthwaite it has been quoted the centre half will be put into the u23 team, would this have an impact on Lewis Gibson's future or has any of the Ed's got any update on his contract that we are trying to get Gibson to sign.

bignev

{Ed002's Note - It is unrelated to Lewis Gibson. A couple of minor injuries, game time has dried up and without some sort of road map for his future, so the player has to consider options away from Everton. This may be a loan or sale which include old club Newcastle, Southampton, Ipswich, Brighton, Rangers and possibly Celtic. Feyenoord, Fortuna Dusseldorf, Hoffenheim and AZ Alkmaar all offer options a little further afield.}

Thanks Ed.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

2.) 14 Jan 2020 14:17:20
hopefully he signs a new deal and goes out on loan this month, if not fear could be back to newcastle on a free, he's good mates with the longstaff brothers and seeing them start regularly for their boyhood team may entice him.

1 point away from home all season, a fixture list I would have struggled to hand pick better myself And we are heading into free fall.

Make no mistake the Watford game is massive on Tuesday, lose this and I think he will be gone, how ironic if it's Watford that gets him the sack.

I still say when the Chinese league finishes end of November, Benetiz will be approached, if he hasn't been already, then it's a question of what we do until then.

I will finish by saying I fully expect Everton to win on Tuesday, we are at home, this is the game that is keeping Silva in a job, so I fully expect Silva to go all guns blazing for this game and put out the big guns, with very few changes in the team.

This game will give him some breathing space for now.

Over to you Marco.

Get what your saying but what about the players? In my opinion he had a decent starting 11 yesterday but they couldn’t do it. Substitutes not great but as much as we’re all on silva back surely the players have to take some blame in all this mess?

2.) 27 Oct 2019 09:24:48
''1 point away from home all season, ''

BigNev, this away points thing has been my mantra for weeks now and the home and away matches (PL) are always going to be integral to each other, we went on the road, and btw I don't care to where neither, with a spring in our step and under those circumstances the players we have should come back with the bacon, ready for our next home game.
This is not happening under the present manager!

3.) 27 Oct 2019 12:46:15
The attitude of some players is really poor, I hate singling people out but Keane and Pickford have been disgraceful since their first game, neither have made any improvements, I think Mason/ Mina at the back, and I would give Lossl a few games. its time the other two to be dropped and let's see if they work hard to get recalled, judging by their career at us so far, they would never come back in. Silva too scared to drop poor players though, I just don't understand.

4.) 27 Oct 2019 14:08:44
i really would hope that an approach for a top manager with PROVEN experience is being sourced as we speak, rafa or jose for me, statement signing, give the players a kick up the arse and also the ability to attract big name players, just my opinion before i get shot down.

{Ed002's Note - statement to whom?

5.) 27 Oct 2019 21:04:37
Why should the Watford game keep him in the job, are we advocating papering the cracks. Simply not a Premiership Manager. This is like walking through mud laced with superglue.

6.) 27 Oct 2019 21:06:36
Benitez for me. Whether he would accept a DoF is the question.

7.) 27 Oct 2019 22:07:32
A really convincing win over Watford would I imagine be a 'lifeline' though only temporary, imo his failure to get a decent run of form this term has put his head irrevocably on the chopping block .

8.) 27 Oct 2019 22:25:08
If Benitez is against DoF, then I’d employ two of them just to make sure we don’t ever get him.

9.) 29 Oct 2019 10:17:36
If beating Watford tonight is a reason to keep Silva then are standards have sunk and we deserve to be relegated.

10.) 29 Oct 2019 11:32:18
''If beating Watford tonight is a reason to keep Silva ''

DC, It's the Trophy that holds it's draws in supermarkets not the 'World Cup' mate 🙄.

Last year we would have let Gaye leave for the first bid and panicked and brought Michy Bats in for the £35 Million.

I am liking the way we stood firm on Gaye and did not do any last minute twitching.

Managed to get a few out on loan as well.

With our season as good as over worth giving Tosun an extended run until the end of the season, draft Hornby into the squad and give him the odd game time.

Overall whether we finish 7th or 11 or lower, we can experiment and see if any stand up to the task.

Regroup in the Summer and take stock what needs to be done long term with incomings and out goings.

Players have 4 months to prove themselves, so although we are playing to finish as high as possible, these next 4 months will structure the future of our football club, those who want to stay and fight, and those that get found out and shipped off.

bignev

1.) 02 Feb 2019 07:36:58
Well said Bignev I actually think the Jan transfer window was a good one for us, we didn't panic buy we didn't lose any important players and our youth went on loan deals which will benefit us and them in the future. As you say 4 months now for the players to show themselves though I'm betting Brands already has knows who's going and has identified players roll on the summer.

2.) 02 Feb 2019 08:03:11
Good posts lads.

3.) 02 Feb 2019 09:29:27
Seems like a good idea to me Nev/ Lee.

4.) 02 Feb 2019 12:23:19
I do think DCL could have done with a loan to get more experience but once Niasse went it would leave us short.
Good posts above as January is not the time to do business unless desperate. Hopefully a few results for us over the next few weeks. What better way for Marco and the team to get over the Anfield game to beat them at Goodison.

5.) 02 Feb 2019 12:46:32
But we are Desperate? WTF, Edd this site is full of ostriches,

6.) 02 Feb 2019 13:03:50
Thank goodness there are only a couple of Doom slayers on here.

7.) 02 Feb 2019 17:09:58
We would just end up with more bolasie's, walcotts and Tosun's. can't just throw money at people when things are not going well. We have spent how much and we are crap. We need a smarter more calculated and progressive method. Not panic buying. The season is f****d. We can't rescue it.

8.) 02 Feb 2019 17:47:34
GuernseyBlue even you can not be happy with that today?

9.) 02 Feb 2019 18:44:35
Should have signed the Black Cat, was more movement in the Cat than that pile of rubbish today.

10.) 03 Feb 2019 23:45:49
Bit harsh to say he needs to get result against city to save his job but I do think he needs a performance and a sign that we have worked on defending set pieces but then Man City don’t really put ball into box that much from set plays.

25 Jan 2019 19:34:47
Let's hope we take the fa cup seriously and put out a strong squad for tomorrow.

One game at a time and if we get the win, all we need is a couple of kind draws to go our way.

Anyway first things first, let's get the job done tomorrow, no 6 changes please Silva.

bignev

20 Jan 2019 21:53:46
Looking like we will not be getting our striker this January, unless we offload some players.

Cannot see anyone paying for any of the players we want to offload.

Tosun will be wanted by Turkish teams but only on loan, cannot see anyone beating the door down to sign Schnids.

The only player I can see leaving is Gaye at the right price, then we need to fill his position.

We have dug ourselves into a hole by allowing players to go out on loan, even Cardiff saw through us and went for the loan option.

So unless we somehow manage to get a few sales by putting a more realistic price on our players, expect it to be a quiet January.

bignev

1.) 21 Jan 2019 10:54:05
Its been stated on numerous occasions the club will be doing very little if any business during the January window. I can't see the problem with that either we won't get relegated and won't finish in the top 4. The current squad is good enough for the time being in my opinion.

2.) 21 Jan 2019 11:17:32
The squad is good enough but they don't play as a team. In the real world some of them would get the sack on capability.

3.) 21 Jan 2019 12:38:28
More like dereliction of duty Pensarn. I agree also with sa90. It’s shaping to be a mid table season so why panick? Get the striker early in the summer window ready for a pre season then no more excuses.

4.) 21 Jan 2019 12:45:42
Hi toffee, I know if I put a shift in like some of them do, then I know I would have been up in front of the manager mate.

5.) 21 Jan 2019 13:30:50
Not sure how much a new striker would improve this team. We are not generating enough chances so even the best strikers would have a hard time. We started the season with some good attacking style play but even then we had games which were poor and this has now become the norm rather than the exception. It seems that Silva has plan A and when this does not work the players have no idea what to do resulting in mistakes, poor passing, low confidence and general malaise. The opposition now know how to play against us and if Silva can't find a plan B or C then it will only get worse regardless of whom plays. At the moment we are a a bunch of individual players and not a team.

{Ed025's Note - very much so mike..

6.) 21 Jan 2019 15:35:59
Certainly worth putting Hornby in the squad for the cup game.

7.) 21 Jan 2019 16:48:59
Hi Eds02, nice to see your quiet about my so called 5 game prediction. It only lasted 2 games. What's going wrong with us mate?

{Ed002's Note - The problem is the lopsided squad, the lack of RW, not playing Tosun and having Silva as a coach.~

8.) 21 Jan 2019 17:47:59
Not much down for us then Eds.

9.) 21 Jan 2019 19:12:36
Ed002. can't see Silva going until the end of the year, if then. Any ideas about who might be a suitable replacement given availability and the state we are in?

{Ed002's Note - The club are looking to up their profile and are taking advice - ironically from the guy who pushed the side toward Silva. Right now I am not aware of the club looking for someone new. Again, this is rather a self inflicted wound and has resulted in a lop-sided squad that needs work - there might be 10 or 12 players available to leave but that is a lot of work to undertake. If there is no trust in Tosun, a decent player, then a CF is needed - but they could have grabbed Sala at a reasonable price and decided not to.}

10.) 21 Jan 2019 21:09:42
Ed002 -are you not a fan of silva’s?

{Ed002's Note - Are yo? Would you not rather have the relative success of Martinez, Allardyce and Koeman as compared to Silva? A mistake from day one as I have explained.}

Getting away from ffp within Everton and how close we are to the £109 Million losses we are allowed, I have been reading about other teams who have breached this, but not occurred a ban and were hit with a fine.

Man City and psg are the ones who have used every trick in the book, from bringing shell in to protect players wages being portionally off set by image rights to the players to large sponsorship from the Stadium, the shirts, you name it City have certainly gained an advantage.

It is not just the above two teams, Liverpool were under scrutiny in 2014 along with Galatasary A C Milan, you even have Real Madrid, who sold a piece of wasteland for a ridiculous price to off set their over spending.

Derby County escaped by selling their stadium for twice its original price, to their cub owner, which begs the question on a Usmanov, sorry Moshi buying Goodison Park, then leasing it back, until we move to Bramley Moore Dock.

Everton have a smart accountment in charge of our club and will find loopholes to offset our current debt of over £100 Million.

Is it right, certainly not, but if clubs are getting around this and only picking up fines, then I am confident that Moshi will find a way.

bignev

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what tyou have been reading but both PSG and Manchester City had significant fines and sanctions - and that was from UEFA who have far lower financial limits that the Premier League if a club wishes to play in Europe. Derby have not got away with the sale of the ground and have been charged. Birmingham have been given a second points deduction. Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday and QPR have had charges and sanctions.

There is no "smart accountant who will find loopholes" for Everton.}

1.) 08 Feb 2020 21:21:35
They are all finding loopholes that’s why FFP will never work, owners have manipulated for years, Usmanov paying 30m to just have first option on naming rights is a loophole is it not.

{Ed002's Note - Absolute rubbish. Numerous clubs have been punished as will Everton. The business is an absolute joke and the club is mortgaged to a third party.}

2.) 09 Feb 2020 00:59:15
The latest from Sasha Ryazantsev who runs the accounts has said that Everton are well within their ffp and that figures that are due to be submitted In March will take into account, Finch Farm, ongoing work carried out at Goodison and costs towards the new stadium application.

He is not worried and said Everton have nothing to worry about in regards to ffp when the next figures are forwarded.

I do not have any inkling but he seems pretty confident on reassuring Everton supporters.

3.) 09 Feb 2020 09:21:38
I'm not even sure why we seem so concerned with the money side of our club, it's way out of our hands and while maybe its worrying to a few its nothing we can control, let's just focus on the team and how well there doing.

4.) 09 Feb 2020 09:30:27
There are conflicting reports around with regards Ffp. The Esk has us 50-60 million over to date but he was out on last years numbers (although he was under on his predicted losses) . Sasha seems confident we are within the FFp.
Ed thinks we are doomed. Who knows where we will be at year end.
Let's just enjoy the ride of a push for europe and hope the powers that be, have a plan.

5.) 09 Feb 2020 10:34:48
Yep - push for Europe and hope that we are allowed to play in it if we do qualify! Dunc I think people are concerned about the money side because they care about the long term future of the club, and because in the short term they'd rather not have point deductions/ European bans etc.

20 Jan 2020 11:51:28
Following on from our wages being around 85% and Ed02 rightly picking up on this being a worrying concern, a few have asked about terminating contracts, which will still see them being paid off for the remaining time left.

Here is an even more worrying piece about players out on loan or not in the first team, or offloading certain players.

Naisse, Stekelenburg, Martina and Baines contracts end this summer.

Sandro, Dowell, Tarashej and Bolasie have 1.5 years remaining.

Siggerson and Tosun have 2.5 years remaining.

So trying to get our wage bill down is going to be very hard until at least this Summer, even then it will not come down by much.

Hope this helps in putting a prospective on what Ed02 is trying to explain in regards to our wage bill.

bignev

1.) 20 Jan 2020 12:17:42
I missed off Walcott and Schnids who both have another one and a half years remaining.

2.) 20 Jan 2020 13:22:56
hopefully the club can find options for them this summer, sandro being the hardest as he is happy to sit on that wage and just keep going on loan back to spain. god his agent must have hit the jackpot seeing steve walsh coming.

3.) 20 Jan 2020 13:48:33
Apart from Tosun Wblue, it is going to be hard to shift any of the others out, no team will buy when they know we will loan the players out.

4.) 20 Jan 2020 17:54:36
Is there anyway we can do an insurance job on Sandro? 120k a week isn't it?

{Ed025's Note - its a hit man we need toffeeapple.. :)

5.) 20 Jan 2020 18:49:06
Let’s hope it isn’t Sandro or Barlow then doing the firing.

6.) 20 Jan 2020 21:03:28
Sandro was suppose to be a snip at 5m as well.

7.) 20 Jan 2020 23:43:16
Someone on the grassy Knoll ed25. Hope they shoot straighter mind.

13 Dec 2019 16:13:46
I received an email today from the people's project, of the Bramley Moore update.

For anyone who has not yet received this, the application for the new ground is being submitted on Monday 23rd December,

A new visual of the ground and also Goodison is going to be available that Day as well on the Everton website, and also the people's project app.

Wicked. Only minor tweaks apparently too so it's going to look epic.

11 Dec 2019 16:14:23
Another a Day, another Manager link, I am not sure if I put it down to myself being at the stage of what fits for Everton.

I can only go off last Saturdays game, what seems to fit is communicating with the players, keeping things simple, and working as a team.

We saw this under Catterick, Kendall, Royle and in parts Moyes.

Kendall was a player a Manager when we brought him in, no vast Managing experiance.

Ferguson has sorted in just one Day with the players, how to play the Everton way.

Personally If I was the board, I would take a close look at how this team has been reunited, the fans are on the same hymn sheet as the players, the Manager and the board.

Short term why not give the gig to a Dunc on a game by game basis.

We have had too many changes of Management, we seem to have found the right formular that has got the team playing again.

Ok it was only one game, but that one game must be worth sticking with Dunc, while taking our time and rushing our next Manager, who knows, that next manager may turn out to be Dunc, every Manager has to start somewhere.

Personally I am more than happy for Dunc to take one game at a time, rather than a coach who comes in and brings in over complicated tactics and a big salary.

bignev

1.) 11 Dec 2019 17:06:38
Game to game basis and temper expectations. For instance Utd are up for it at the moment so realistically if the effort and honesty is there from our lads that is all we can ask. Make sure the foundation is solid first and build from there.

2.) 12 Dec 2019 08:56:15
people missing the huge point, ferguson doesn't wqant the job full time!

28 Oct 2019 15:37:19
Another defeat and a cup game tomorrow coming up, so I wonder which players turn it is to roll up and say how great Marco is in training, how we are hurting and need to put it right.

Two things you can guarantee is a press release of a squad player singing praises, when things gets worse it's the tried and tested stadium update.

Welcome to the wonderful world of an Evertonian.

The reason is we need uncle Usmanovs money to help us compete, the big boys have filled their boots and now the ladder has been removed to stop any other team trying to compete with them.

If the top teams can get over a hundred million on combined sponsorships all it is doing is making the gap even harder to close.

I think 30 Million a year is a fair amount to have Megafon on our shirts.

bignev

{Ed002's Note - Everton are working well outside of the rules and within a year or two will be charged. The are a light year away from meeting UEFA FFP.}

Surely the penny will drop on the usual players linked away.

It happens every season when we are due to play the said clubs, Man Utd and Chelsea due up soon.

Seems the press are not happy with Everton challenging and once again we have them spouting rubbish, to unsettle the team.

Gibbo, City’s naming rights, the majority of the money came from the City owner, Usmanov has no association within the Everton board so on that end of the scale, any future sponsor or naming rights will be fine, as long as Usmanov stays away from becoming an owner or board member at Everton.

As Ed pointed out, it is our wages and living means that is the big concern.

This should be rectified when Barcelona pay us £80 Million for Niasse, tongue firmly in cheek.

Sobs, I have said for years, the third placed Champs league team should not go into the Europa league, it devalues the Europa league.

You could play in July in the Europa league, play numerous games, then suddenly you are then faced with teams dropping out of the Champs league.

So yes I agree with the top two teams going through in the Champs league, the draw out of the hat not sure of because wing your group rewards you with being seeded for the next round.
